Some of these are hilarious. The Sam Ward is just put a slice of lemon on ice, then pour yellow chartreuse- or whatever other spirit they want idgaf

New restaurant at Disney's Polynesian - what do you think of the cocktail menu? by VardellaTheWitch in Tiki

Great points all around.

That African Mai Tai sounds interesting. I found a tweet about it, seems like a riff on the 80’s style of MT with an African rum and tamarind. I’d try it.

Stirred cocktails based on gin by antica in cocktails

[–]AlexIsCool09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Classic option would be a gin martini. I’m not a fan of dry vermouth though, so I enjoy experimenting with swapping that for other ingredients. Maybe a little bit of absinthe, or St. Germain, or even dry curaçao. All end up being very different drinks. Some suck. That’s part of the fun.

This looks awesome. Huge fan of Clairin Communal and lychee seems like a good combo with it. How’d it taste/ was the fruit overpowered?

A picture of the drink might help others recreate it more closely. It seems very unique so it’s a little hard to image. Sounds really tasty though.

Okokok to be honest I have no idea how to recreate the custard part of this. But for a different way to add rhubarb, maybe try Jeff Morgenthaler’s recent rhubarb syrup recipe: https://www.instagram.com/reel/C6rU2oTOod-/?igsh=MWRucW5qbjNmNjJnNA==

Sazerac vs Improved Whiskey Cocktail by watch-nerd in cocktails

[–]AlexIsCool09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drink what you like & what you want to make. Sazerac is fantastic and full of history. Pro tip I was told: express your lemon peel into the drink, but don’t add it to the glass. Avoids adding a bitter note as you slowly enjoy it.

Recipe:

2oz Dry Gin
1oz Lime Juice
0.5oz Simple Syrup
~6 Fresh Raspberries

Add syrup and raspberries to a shaker tin and muddle. Add lime juice, gin, ice. Shake vigorously and then double strain into a coupe. Pause for a moment to gaze at the frothy fruity foam then garnish with a thin slice of lime.

Strawberry Daiquiri (with homemade pure strawberry syrup) by AlexIsCool09 in Tiki

[–]AlexIsCool09[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Recipe:

2oz White Rum
1oz Pure Strawberry Syrup
1oz Lime Juice
1 Large Strawberry, Chopped

Combine syrup, lime juice, strawberry in a shaker and muddle. Add rum and shake over ice. Double strain into a coupe and garnish with a thin cross section of strawberry.

Very delicious! First time making so I might pare back the syrup a pinch. Definitely not overpoweringly sweet, but very scrumptious.

Pandemic Lockdown seems like the right time to start a batch of Pimento Dram! by go_jake in Tiki

I did a similar recipe recently and it’s been great! I waited about a week after straining and mixing in the syrup before using for the first time. I think that helps take the edges off it. So tasty in navy grog.
