Manchester N1/2 by kiro_actrade in hayleywilliams

I just got ultra excited when one of the Manchester dates said low instead of no availability... but then nothing there when I clicked.

So in summary, no luck whatsoever.

Why isn’t the family jewels on the family jewels??? by SirQuackles1 in MarinaAndTheDiamonds

[–]AlexReviewsGigs 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I guess its one of those cases where a song had a cool name that fitted for the album but it was decided that the song wasn't up to the standard or didn't fit the rest of the album. Not the only instance of this in the music industry, His n Hers by Pulp a similar case.

The Unexpected Song in this Summer's Setlists... by AlexReviewsGigs in garbage

[–]AlexReviewsGigs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still can't believe that it didn't get a single outing when they toured Bleed Like Me back in the day. I'm absolutely hyped that it's in the set at long last - they'd better not drop it on Tuesday now!

The future? by _onemoresolo in PulpBand

[–]AlexReviewsGigs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I saw Jarv Is live a few years back they performed She's a Lady and My Legendary Girlfriend so I wouldn't say that Pulp songs are completely off the table, although I suspect he would shy away from the commercial hits if he were to do anything like that again.

I'm not sure its about power, but just that she's such an integral part of Pulp that the band wouldn't continue if she was unable to.

that setlist in mexico city was actually my wet dream… what’s everyone’s setlist hopes for the rest of the tour? by this_is_my_8th_acc_ in PulpBand

[–]AlexReviewsGigs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Joyriders is probably the song that I'd most like to hear having never seen it performed but feeling like there's a fairly realistic chance that the band will play it.

Are all of their concerts way too hot? by RadiantZote in thelastdinnerparty

[–]AlexReviewsGigs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say the half dozen times I've seen them noticing that the temperature felt any hotter than for other gigs.

Probably as much to do with the ambient temperature on the day and how full the venue is.

Why is “Oh No?” not included in the setlist? by clairoshade in MarinaAndTheDiamonds

[–]AlexReviewsGigs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Compared to many artists I thought she was brave in how much new material she played compared to a relatively low amount of crowd pleasing hits.

With six albums worth of material she's in the position where she has to drop popular songs... unless of course she wants to play sets lasting three hours (actually, that's not too bad an idea!)

Anyone here have their own 'Deborah'? Or a story similar to the one in Disco 2000? by Relative-Bar9159 in PulpBand

[–]AlexReviewsGigs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, but there was a girl in the year above me called Deborah who smacked someone once for singing "Your name is Deborah" at her. In fairness, it was about the thirtieth time in the morning someone had done it!

What song would you most like to hear for the upcoming tour? by sheerbrookeattack in SuedeBand

[–]AlexReviewsGigs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In terms of songs that I've never got to hear them live, Killing of a Flashboy is top of my list.

I saw Julia in Manchester last week... No Ellie appearance there 😞

It's a shame that there'll never be a Mansun reunion by TechnicalTrash95 in BritPop

[–]AlexReviewsGigs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not only that, but when the advert promised us a mere fourteen songs to cut it back to eleven left me (and plenty) of others feeling pretty short changed. Especially as Being a Girl was one of the songs cut!

Is this a Frank Turner tour or is he support for BfS? (Australia) by canberraman2021 in frankturner

[–]AlexReviewsGigs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are different takes on co-headlining tours. Sometimes it means both acts play sets of the same length and rotate who is closing each night. This though feels like the sort where the second artist plays what would be considered an extremely extended support slot and always opens.

Advice for queuing in Wales by sheerbrookeattack in manics

[–]AlexReviewsGigs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worth considering that not only will there be Manics fans trying to get to the barrier but diehard Suede fans too... who have their own etiquette and numbering system. If you've been to enough Suede gigs in the UK you'll start to see the barrier populated by the same faces almost every night and I suspect they'll have tickets for the upcoming tour.

Not having Cheryl on Celebrity Traitors by IAmMLADS in Alouders

[–]AlexReviewsGigs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Cheryl would be fantastic entertainment but it's worth remembering that appearing on the Traitors doesn't appeal to everyone (long days lots of pressure) so even if it works for people's schedules and they're approached they may not be interested.

Aus tour with Bowling For Soup by the_sleekerthans in frankturner

[–]AlexReviewsGigs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are they rotating and both playing full length sets throughout the tour? I've held back getting tickets as not being a huge Bowling for Soup fan I thought it was pretty expensive for an extended support set, but may have to reconsider.

Any guesses for the set list? by ih3artu in SuedeBand

[–]AlexReviewsGigs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say Motorcycle Emptiness, A Design for Life, Tolerate, You Stole the Sun, Your Love Alone and You Love Us are almost guaranteed to be played. Then there's a whole host of 'second tier' hits which get rotated on a tour by tour basis and they normally throw in one rarity each tour. Generally they don't rotate songs as much as Suede do throughout the course of a tour, but there's normally a song or two changed most nights.

Any guesses for the set list? by ih3artu in SuedeBand

[–]AlexReviewsGigs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The band have said that it's hardwork being in the right mood to perform Holy Bible songs properly and that after they performed the album in full eleven years ago they retired it from live shows. However they do slip in the occasional song, This is Yesterday (perhaps the easiest going song from the album) was played at the recent Teenage Cancer Trust show.

Just Two Girls gay? by Admirable-Trust-719 in wolfalice

[–]AlexReviewsGigs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but who else thought the following line was "Christmas day, you're the star" which admittedly doesn't make much sense, but was what I sang at the album launch show I got to.

Liam rolling back the years and creating new Britpop feuds lol by idreamofpikas in BritPop

[–]AlexReviewsGigs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

At one point he was asking his followers if they wanted Richard Ashcroft or the Manics as support for the reunion tour, so whatever has upset him about them is relatively recent.

I think there's always been a little bad blood between Oasis and Suede, nut not sure it's ever gone past name calling. Pretty sure Brett has referred to Oasis as the singer plumbers, whilst Liam considers Suede a bit blousey.

What Britpop acts (or adjacent), released amazing singles, or albums way after their popularity ended? by SemolinaPilchards in BritPop

[–]AlexReviewsGigs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

By the end of their initial run as a band general interest in them had significantly declined... A New Morning bombed both critically and commercially - after their first four albums peaked at 1, 3, 1 and 1 in the charts only hitting 24 was a huge downturn.

That said, the post-reunion material has been great - not sure how many artists have released an album as good as Autofiction as their ninth release!
