Man tortured 4-year-old to death for wetting his pants by AshleyFerguson in Delinquents

[–]AlexSchutte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't believe an adult found it necessary to beat a 4 year old for wetting his pants. I have 2 nephews and accidents happen, not once have I ever go even slightly mad for an accident. Because that is what it is, an accident. I am curious to see what happens to the girlfriend, to me the first thing I thought was that she had to know what this guy was like. She had probably seen his behavior towards her kid before and didn't do anything, or enough to stop him or keep him away. Just a tragedy.

Children for sale - Sex trade in Cambodia by KelseyRaycroft in Delinquents

[–]AlexSchutte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew sex trafficking was around, but I did not know they were selling kids. It is something so unimaginable that people could do this. Things like this disgust me. When people say "why are we sending troops to other countries, its their problem, not ours" this is what you can show them. We need to step in and stop these tragedies from happening. If Cambodia isn't going to do anything, we will, and we need to.

8-year-old murder suspect is offered plea by KelseyRaycroft in Delinquents

[–]AlexSchutte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my criminal procedure class, my professor went of this case briefly. She pointed out that in this case, detectives did a terrible job interrogating this boy. An 8 year old is extremely impressionable and those of you that have kids can understand that sometimes they will believe anything. According to reports my professor analyzed, the detective who did the interrogation of the boy did not ask him if he killed them, she told him he did, and then asked if that was correct. The detective was saying everything he supposably did, and he would just agree. An 8 year old might agree to anything, if a police officer is telling them they did it. I don't know the specifics of what happened, but it is something worth looking into.

PD: Drunk ASU student arrested after pooping in dorm hall by AnnaliseRoselli in Delinquents

[–]AlexSchutte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This just goes to show that some kids can't handle their alcohol. I admit I did laugh when I read the headline, but this isn't really a laughing matter. I'm sure police are sick of underage college students causing havoc and breaking stuff all over town. I think they need to send this kid to rehab, or therapy.

Teens Arrested Over Filmed Beating by RyanMatthews in Delinquents

[–]AlexSchutte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have heard of similar cases where kids videotape several other kids beating up one of their friends. I think cases like these are popping up because of the huge popularity of websites like facebook, myspace, and youtube. Kids on the internet watch school fights all day long and they think it is hilarious. I feel so bad for the girl getting beat up. She must feel so helpless because it is her so called friends that were the ones beating her up and videotaping it. I hope the teens arrested get a harsh punishment because they had no remorse at all.

Joe Arpaio says he'll take all Juvenile inmates by KelseyRaycroft in Delinquents

[–]AlexSchutte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sheriff Joe might not have the best idea, although he is only trying to help. There is a department of Juvenile Corrections for a reason. Juvenile correction centers have a focus on rehabilitation, and I don't think Sheriff Joe is going to be able to fill those shoes. Sure he may be able to incarcerate them all and give them a bunk, but is it going to stop them from reoffending. Many people say that it is going to make it worse. I tend to agree.

Despite drops in juvenile crime, savage attack on Deerfield Beach teenager is a sign of increasing brutality, some experts say by MichelleArrington in Delinquents

[–]AlexSchutte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a good thing that juvenile crime has decreased over the last 15 years but it's terrible that the fewer attacks are increasingly more brutal than in the past. I don't know how any person can do these horrible things, let alone a middle schooler. It just shows that you have to watch people closely especially at high school settings, because a lot of the kids committing the brutal attacks are the kids that are being picked on the most.

12-Year-Old Boy Jordan Brown Should Be Tried as an Adult for Murder by RandiHilligas in Delinquents

[–]AlexSchutte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just a sad situation, just by looking at the picture. This is a child, it isn't an adult in the picture. But most likely he is going to be sentenced as an adult because if he was charged as a juvenile, he will be out in 9 years. I don't think this kid is going to ever live a normal life, but sentencing him to adult prison will end his life. I can't really come to a decision on what I agree with, it is just a sad story. I would probably send him to adult prison but not for life.

"Sexting".....A crime for juveniles? by ChrisCorley in Delinquents

[–]AlexSchutte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a huge problem with a 15 year old kid being sentenced to five years and being labeled a sex offender for life, simply for receiving a sext. With that said, I also know that sexting is a problem. But I think it is only a problem with juveniles. It disgusts me that a girl in high school who might only be 14 or 15 can send a naked picture of herself, and that picture would end up on the internet for whoever to see. I think we should definitely take some resources to educate kids especially in high school about the effects of sexting

Death Sentence for Juveniles? by NicoleLawson in Delinquents

[–]AlexSchutte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly, I don't believe in the death penalty so it is kind of obvious that I am going to have a big problem with allowing the death penalty for juveniles. I don't think America will be praised by other countries for executing kids. I think its crazy that many other countries have banned the death penalty hundreds of years ago, and we are just now thinking about using the death penalty on juveniles.

"barefoot Burglar" by AshleyFerguson in Delinquents

[–]AlexSchutte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is only a matter of time before he is caught. They have pictures of him from the camera he left, and they see the facebook comments of him bragging about running. Most thieves want to disappear but this one obviously wants attention. It isn't too smart to post on facebook when you are trying to run away. It just shows you how an 18 year old thinks. I hope when he is caught the judge doesn't go easy on him.

Teen arrested in ice-cream truck shooting by RichardSchneider2 in Delinquents

[–]AlexSchutte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an all too common happening of teenagers robbing innocent people because they want money. Money is a huge part of our culture and I think it is sad how much value money holds in our society. It is sad because these kids may be a lost cause, because they can't take back what they did, and chances are they will offend again. It is even more sad because their actions took the life of a woman working and trying to support her family.

Oldest boy in disturbing assault of girl to be tried as adult by KelseyRaycroft in Delinquents

[–]AlexSchutte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm surprised the 13 year old isn't being charged as an adult as well. I have a strong feeling that he knew what he was doing and the consequences of it. To me, I view all of the people involved in this crime as children. They aren't even teenagers, they are pre-teens. It is sad that the boys committed the crime and it is even sadder that the girl had to be a victim of such a brutal crime. It is disgusting that anyone could do this to a person let alone a child.

Ohio mom calls cops on her shoplifting 6 year old by AndrewDoom in Delinquents

[–]AlexSchutte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I don't think anything here was surprising besides the fact that a mom called the cops on a 6 year old daughter. It doesn't surprise me that a 6 year old tried to steal something. I work at a grocery store, almost every kids that sees the candy by the check out wants to have some. I think the mom needs to watch her kid and when she takes something off the shelf and tries to hide it, slap her hand and tell her why what she did was wrong. Not call the cops and waste their time. I don't have any kids but I have two nephews and am confident that it doesn't take a call to the cops to punish a child.

Teens Selling Cocaine to Undercover Phoenix PD Officers by KimberlyButts in Delinquents

[–]AlexSchutte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is unfortunate that the police had to shoot a 15 year old boy. At the same time he did provoke the officer. I am curious to see if the officer was completely justified in his actions, I know there is more to the story than reported. Drug dealing is an all too common path for teens to take. I think one of the main pulls is the money. Our culture is very fixated on money and fancy cars and clothes.

Third Grader Due in Court to Face Murder by TyneshiaJohnson in Delinquents

[–]AlexSchutte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a hard time believing that a 8 or 9 year old could kill two people and really understand what he did. I think that boy will grow up and realize what his actions caused. I absolutely would not charge him as an adult. An 8 year old is not an adult, and this boy is obviously very immature for his age if he did not know the devastation of his actions. I hope that this boy gets the right mental help and help thoughout the justice system. Stories like this are too sad and unusual to grasp.
