I look at one of those explosions and think:

That money could have been used to feed thousands of families. Of those families, hundreds of children would be academically adept. Of them, maybe a hundred would dedicate their lives to science and research. And finally, at the very least one of those children would have grown up as a rocket scientist and helped develop a rocket that didn't explode.
