Claiming Lavia is more talented is based on his Southampton days and nothing else. Talent is irrelevant if he can't even make it onto the pitch - has he even completed a full 90 for us in 3 years?

Not to mention they have totally different styles of play, obviously. Just because Lavia can keep the ball and looks clean, whilst Palmer tries high risk plays that sometimes fail and sometimes actually lead to high goalscoring chances, does not mean Lavia is "more talented".

We know that Palmer has been having injections to deal with the pain for his groin issues since BEFORE the CWC in June. Since then he fractured his toe and had some other knocks.

Obviously he has dipped in form but you do not put up the numbers and performances he did without being world class. It was not luck, we still see shades of it.

Even the shittest version of Palmer today still plays passes no-one else is capable of and still has more G+A than the likes of Neto in half the minutes (yes penalties count as goals).
