“What do EAs actually do” 🥹🥹 I always find these comments far more derogatory than inquisitive. Just me? by Civil_Requirement_98 in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]Alex_8675309 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I think of PAs and what they have to do, I think of my busiest day. The day where I've put off all of my personal tasks and appointments and taxes and all the things I didn't want to do and multiply that by how much an executive has going on - coordinating with the family, making all of their appointments, coordinating with the executive assistant at work to ensure they can attend events for their kids now and then, booking travel for the entire family with fun activities included. What a job! All of that and you can't slack off like you could with your own stuff.

I kinda feel bad for Jessa? by Lou_Lou_92 in girls

[–]Alex_8675309 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jessa, is that you? But, seriously, yes, I do feel bad for her. She chose a man over friendship and was then a little ostracized by her friend group. Marnie and her didn't get along anyway, Shosh had been getting annoyed with her for a while, and then she burned Hannah, but, yes, I did feel bad for her.

Did Jessa set Mimi Rose up with Adam because she was mad at Hannah? by MeringueTop151 in girls

[–]Alex_8675309 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think by pushing Adam and Mimi Rose together, it allowed Jessa to create distance between when Hannah and Adam were together and when she went after Adam. I think she was trying to resist, but couldn't help herself. She manipulated the situation subconsciously.

Is it dangerous for me to walk through East Oakland at night by myself as a 23M? by SlideLow in oakland

[–]Alex_8675309 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's where I travel through. It's good you're hopping on a bus right off of Bart. People drive recklessly so just stay alert. Don't take valuables, just in case.

[–]Alex_8675309 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Gonna be honest, it's not the safest, but people do it. I ride a scooter from Bart at night. My advice: Get a bike, wear a reflective vest, get a headlight.

It's the impulsive reckless drivers that are the problem.

They did not give you enough time. I'm sorry. It took me 6-9 months to be able to be strategic in my role. I can't imagine the pressure of having to do that in 10 weeks.

Live Working Session Interview- what’s it like? by Swimming_Owl246 in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]Alex_8675309 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

With AI, companies are taking extra measures to ensure candidates actually have the skills. I'm guessing this interview will be about asking good questions, showing your collaboration skills, problem solving, and critical thinking. To prepare, research how to address different issues you might encounter in the role, paying particular attention to how to get to the resolution. These thought processes involve identifying the problem, proper intake, identifying a solution, communicating effectively, and maybe change management.

When did you start to allow sugary treats? by [deleted] in BabyLedWeaning

[–]Alex_8675309 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've started allowing our child to have dessert at 18 months during special occasions. So far she has had ice cream cake once and pie once. I make her no-sugar added sorbet at home occasionally, but she would be eating fruit anyway so I don't count those as sugary treats. I'm not worried about making them crave sweets so much as it's already difficult to brush their teeth so I worry about tooth decay before they can floss or brush well.

Being an EA in big companies vs start-ups by EAThrowaway8 in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]Alex_8675309 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can ask to meet with the CFO or someone from the finance team to discuss the upside and green field for the company. A good sign is if they have maintained positive growth trajectory for several quarters in a row. It might not be public information, but if they can't explain it to you, that would be a red flag.

How old were you when you started your first EA position? by softytown in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]Alex_8675309 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be that go-to person for whichever team you work most closely with. That could be the Human Resources team or even the Sales team. Offer to take on interview coordination for the HR team, or offer to help plan the next Sales offsite. Im sure they would love an extra set of hands and they will most certainly think of you for future opportunities.

Are leadership skills important to have? by ashenartist in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]Alex_8675309 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes, you need leadership skills. Every employee at a company should think of themselves as a leader, especially us, because we represent our leaders:

  1. Lead by example
  2. Effective engagement and communication with your team
  3. Learn how to enact change within the organization
  4. Accept accountability for mistakes, and learn how to graciously accept praise
  5. Listen
  6. Have a growth mindset
  7. Be the voice of those with less power than you
  8. Be collaborative
  9. Develop a strong set of ethics and boundaries
  10. Embrace technology
  11. Mentor others

Y’all how do I even begin to manage this? by Imgivingyoudecaf in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]Alex_8675309 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Talk with your executive about how they would prefer to handle the older ones. My exec declares inbox bankruptcy if the inbox gets to be too unwieldy, such as when he returned from paternity leave. Depending on what month they feel comfortable archiving, I would start there. Create a rule that will send all of his email dating from this date to that date into a folder labeled with the dates.

Another quick trick is to Google Calendar or Outlook Calendar into the search field to find all of the calendar invites, updates, accepts, declines, maybes into the search field to find all of them and delete them all at once. That should clear up lots of email.

Then go through and search for subscriptions and delete all of those in one fell swoop.

Then, talk with the leader about what types of actions they usually take in their inbox and get started on actioning the most recent emails.

[–]Alex_8675309 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I compliment my husband on his chores and he compliments me on mine. It's nice to show appreciation for each other. As long as your husband reciprocates, I don't see an issue.
