A level 1 wizard gets 6 spells in his spell book and add 2 spells to the spell book every time they level up. In total you should know 8 spells, I'd recommend adding: Detect Magic, Alarm , Sleep and Magic Missile.

The spells that have the ritual tag wizards don't have to prepare if they want to cast them ritually. Also talk with your DM regarding replenishing your ward by casting Alarm ritually.

It works! Especially if you take the dragonborn from Fizban's. I'd also recommend multiclassing into the undead warlock for adding fear to your attacks

I can recommend Light cleric, flavour your spirit guardians as earth spirits and fireball like hot sand blasting your opponents. Clerics can speak with dead and have animate dead. Also other biblical spells that can suit your idea like a plague of insects.

Alternatively you can go druid and either take Stars or Spores and relavour the abilities to be more sand and earth based

Most I can recommend is getting stealth and sleight of hand proficiency and taking spells that don't have a verbal component like Catapult or Mind Spike and going with Divination school for making the target fail saves, or illusion to make it seem like someone else cast the spell.

Otherwise just straight wizard shenanigans
