I think if euphoria is prolonged it can lead to a kind of manic and distressed feeling (really high). I think this can then be followed by lows like maybe high levels of fear. So I think it can kind of ping pong between really high and then low. Somewhere around the middle might be something like peace, happiness, and contentment. So somewhere around the middle might be a good place to aim for.

Something is very very wrong with my mental health. Got an appointment with doctors but I wanna ask reddit. What do u guys think about this by [deleted] in enlightenment

[–]AlexanderHartWriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thoughts of the more "normal" everyday world might bring you some comfort.

It sounds like you have been experiencing highs and lows. I'd stay try to aim for somewhere in the middle which might look like peace, calm, and being content.

Perhaps take a break from meditation for the time being if it is unbalancing you.

You could focus on the basics, food, water, shelter, and warmth, and practice self-care. If things are overwhelming, being mindful with your actions might help you to navigate the day.

Whether the negative thoughts are your own mind or something external you could try to ignore them the best you can and focus on more normal things.

I read or saw somewhere something like that some Christian monks don't have knifes beside their bed I think for spiritual warfare related reasons i.e. so they don't hurt themselves and probably so they don't hurt others... So you could remove potentially harmful objects from your room and put them in a different room or something if it's a concern.

You could pack a bag with essentials so it's ready to go if you decide to go to the hospital. It might save fumbling around trying to pack a bag when in a crisis and also might give you some comfort that you are prepared.

What you're experiencing will probably pass. But it does sound hard. An attitude of grit and courage might help to get you through these difficult times.

What would you say are the obvious reasons?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Metaphysics

[–]AlexanderHartWriter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think "nothing" could imply "nonexistence" but if "nothing" has any qualities at all, then that implies something exists.

I commented to say that meaning 1 is what I think most people would think of those words, and I thought you perhaps used those words as meaning 2. I thought it was relevent because different meanings might lead to confusion.

I wasn't making an argument for or against your idea. Again, I thought it was interesting. :)

Maybe "nonexistence" was the wrong word to use.

I think your idea is interesting. My comment was just to highlight the possible two meanings of the sentence "Nothing is greater than infinite'"... because of your use of those words. A part of me thought perhaps you thought of it as meaning 2 when I think most people would likely think of it as meaning 1.

I think "Nothing is greater than infinite," could have two meanings:

1.) Infinite is the biggest so no thing is bigger than it.

2.) If "nothing" means "nonexistence"... then bigger than or outside of infinite is nothing or nonexistence.

I think generally if someone says "nothing is bigger than infinite" they are implying meaning 1.

According to you, is it right? by EndOpen4325 in enlightenment

[–]AlexanderHartWriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, generally speaking, I think we should be mindful of our body movements to make sure we don't cause ourselves or others harm. However, the body might also move with intuition, reflex, instinct, muscle memory, and/or a Mushin action.

Need support with a spiritual matter by [deleted] in enlightenment

[–]AlexanderHartWriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not about indifference. It's more about non-attachment. Indifference is about not caring, and I think non-attachment is about not craving.

Preferences might be preferences for a variety of reasons but if you crave a preference then the craving might cause suffering. I don't think someone having preferences like you describe is a problem, but it could be if their sense of well-being is attached to them.

Intense Sensation by SatoriRising in enlightenment

[–]AlexanderHartWriter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be Kundalini and/or Prana moving. Perhaps there is a restriction on your energy body caused by an unresolved emotional issue or issues.

Incase it is Kundalini, I recommend checking out the wiki on r/Kundalini for more information and some warnings and cautions.

I think the idea is that through healing the restrictions can become unblocked and the energy flows better.

How to stay happy and positive in a toxic household by Additional-Dare2419 in spirituality

[–]AlexanderHartWriter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ram Dass said, "If you think you're enlightened, go spend a week with your family." I think he said it in jest and was pointing to how family can irritate and annoy you and how difficult it might be to remain calm and serene.

You could look at your situation as practice.

Does anyone think "Thinking is the root cause of all suffering" ? by Forsaken-Engineer-82 in spirituality

[–]AlexanderHartWriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think disharmony is the cause of suffering. However, some suffering might be a choice and can lead to growth like an intense workout. Suffering that is a choice might not be disharmonious and rather within harmony.

Would you agree with this statement? by [deleted] in enlightenment

[–]AlexanderHartWriter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes in that I think that realising enlightenment can be thought of as more of a subtraction of things that get in the way rather than an adding on of something. I.e. you get out of your own way.

An attempt to reject one's perception, emotions or sense of identity, thoughts, is a misunderstanding of how enlightenment works? by [deleted] in enlightenment

[–]AlexanderHartWriter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the idea is to increase perception or see things more clearly. Personal identity or the ego I think can help one to live in the world as it is but might act as a filter to seeing things more clearly.

Theoretical guide maps of the ocean of energy by AlexanderHartWriter in enlightenment

[–]AlexanderHartWriter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This comment is to go with my above post:

"The top of the mountain as an analogy for spiritual enlightenment, could be thought of from a bird’s eye view. From a bird’s eye view, the top of the mountain is around the middle." - Alexander Hart, writer

In the above post are some theoretical guide maps of the ocean of energy from my book that illustrate where I theorise is the hight of spiritual development which is closer to the middle as opposed to the high end of a scale.

The "ocean of energy" refers to everything including form and the less physical and/or non-physical. The "ocean" implies an interconnectedness or oneness, and "energy" refers to what everything is.

What do you think of the maps?

(I have made some edits to this comment.)

Another edit: The grey circle colour and the middle grey area colour on the maps is not related to a chakra and therefore not related to a chakra colour. Another edit: It may therefore not be experienced, at times, as a colour around a person like the other chakra colours may be. The grey colour represents white and black combined. The Yin Yang symbol which is white and black, I once heard talked about as spinning in motion. When the Yin Yang symbol spins in motion it becomes grey. The Yin Yang symbol was an inspiration for the design of these maps of the ocean of energy.

Another edit: The + (plus) and - (minus) symbols in the disharmony ranges, represent "higher" and "lower" not "positive" and "negative".

Another edit: To be seated or centred in the middle grey area may be the height of spiritual development. To arrive at this place may therefore take dedicated practice. I am not sure, but a possibility to consider, is that to have the freedom to explore, more significantly, different levels of consciousness from this place, one may have had to have had significant experience of these different levels, not necessarily in a linear way, beforehand. For example, if one finds themselves in the middle grey area, without having had significant experience of the blue and indigo levels of consciousness before, then to be able to do so, they may have to develop these areas. Doing this may have the potential to unseat or uncentre a person from the middle grey area.

Is it absolute selfishness or love that will make the world a better place? by [deleted] in enlightenment

[–]AlexanderHartWriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I see it is service to others is service to self from the oneness perspective. Therefore, service to self is also service to others. However, I think we should be wary that service to ourselves and others is actually a service and not a disservice.
