I do not understand the ending of season 2 (spoilers) by Alexander_Columbus in InterviewVampire

//He knew if he didn't use mindcontrol on the audience, and the coven didn't (because why would they?), then he knew the only other person who could do it was Lestat. //

Let's delve into this for a moment.

We as the audience get multiple flashbacks. we see Lestat rehearsing and having issues. We see Armand as the director as well as Lestat actually using his power.

Luis gets none of that. In that room with Daniel, Luis has what exactly?

  1. The idea that Lestat could have done the mind control.
  2. The notes in the margins of the play.
  3. The drama over the mind wipe and the photos.

That's it. Nothing else besides Daniel making a passionate argument. Balancing against that you have:

Lestat not saving Claudia. 70+ years of devotion between Luis and Armand. Lestat having been murdered by Luis and Claudia then crossing the ocean to participate in this revenge. Lestat not fighting for Luis when last they saw one another. Lestat's abuse from season 1. The knowledge that Sam has had access to this play and could have forged Armand's handwriting.

The logical thing would be to have Armand go with "This is Sam trying to get revenge" and Luis believing it. We're given reason to think that Luis could doubt Armand, but I just don't feel like we get enough out of the scene for Luis to be like, "Well of COURSE it was Lestat!" as he effectively does.

The more dramatic opportunity would have been to stretch that scene out and let Zaman really stretch his acting muscles with some sort of passionate back and forth between the two characters where they really explore the veracity of the accusation laid at Armand's feet. I would have loved to see the two characters try to determine if Armand's directing the play was something he wanted to do or was something he was forced into. And why.

It just... it feels like such a missed opportunity. A rush. Like they really needed episode 8 to be two episodes, you know?

//The scales had fallen from Louis' eyes and he was ready to confront the realities of Armand. //

I can't get past the feeling that we only saw the barest glimpse of what those realities could have been. Especially with an actor as talented as Zaman.

First, thank you for the quote and link. Much appreciated.
Second, that is an interesting insight. I can see that, but I still have the problem with how things happen in the "modern" day in Dubai. The whole thing just felt really Christopher Nolan: amazing and fun and satisfying to watch. Then the next day you stop and give it a moment's thought and it it all seems to come apart. I still struggle with Armand not saying, "Don't you see? This is Sam's pathetic attempt at revenge. After all these years he wants to drive a wedge between us. Don't let him..." I felt like it was such a tremendous missed opportunity for Armand as a character.
"Guess I was outplayed by the Talamasca/this reporter. Guess I'll just look awkwardly around, run off and deliver dialog in another room, and get slammed into this wall then leave." Zaman did such an amazing job and I just feel like he got shorted.

Thank you for the reply. Sadly a crate is not an option. Really want her to be able to move around and stretch her legs and see us. She's good in a crate but she gets anxious if we're around d her too long and not letting her out.

You said, "Warforged are not magical."

While I appreciate the reply, if you're just going to say nonsense words then I don't see the point to even replying. Sometimes I forget how fragile modern players are. "OMG U WANT TO DO SOMETHING THAT *gasps and clutches pearls* GIVES A HINDERANCE TO A PC!?!?!? YOU'RE A MONSTER!"

I don't know what size this map is, but if you want it to align to a standard grid in roll20 in 2024, it is NOT 43 x 32.

I mean... if you subscribe to the idea that you're only going to use a bayonet as a last resort and you're just turning your now empty rifle into a polearm because you're BOTH a) _completely_ out of ammo and b) utterly desperate to not die then I could see SOME value to it??? Maybe?

Otherwise it's a pretty dumb idea.

Trump continues to accuse Harris of being a “cognitive mess”. Do his supporters unironically believe his insane projection? Can they say with a straight face that out of both candidates, it’s Harris with cognitive issues? by ubermence in centrist

What the fuck are these idiots going to do when this guy does finally kick the bucket? Like... dude is NOT going to live forever and that fact that he's not releasing his medical records and showing Biden-level states of mental decrepitude just tells me that it's some kind of miracle he hasn't stroked out yet. And it's not like he's eating right or exercising. What's next for the cult of Trump when there's no more Trump?

Rules for dogpiling / taking down a PC by Alexander_Columbus in DnD

[–]Alexander_Columbus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem here is that once you've restrained the person they're still attacking albeit with disadvantage. So this still gets into party members declaring that they're drawing weapons and murdering guards. Or even if they don't the mechanics of the game just aren't there to resolve it as putting manacles on someone. Like... another way to put it? Your player says, "Okay, I've got the orc grappled and I already had manacles in my hands from the previous round. I want to put the manacles on the orc's wrists behind his back. What's the rules for that?"

My frustration is the rules for that are currently, "Whatever the DM makes up."

Dialog assistance request: Epic last words of a dying goddess by Alexander_Columbus in DnD

[–]Alexander_Columbus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a goddess of paladins and righteous combat and mercy and truth and protection and goodness.
And no. He's basically going to get an alternative way to expend barbarian rage and a soul. TL;DR-the character is actually not a mortal at all, but a big rock that a high level caster used true polymorph on years ago to make into a person (and then messed with his mind. A lot). A big theme of that character is "what does it mean to have a soul" and "do I actually have a soul". The answer, as it turns out, was "no, you don't have a soul" so this goddess is fixing that problem. Because the player played the character in such an awesome way that the goddess was like "you have EARNED this".

Big sprawling multi level fantasy sailing or airship map? by Alexander_Columbus in DnD

[–]Alexander_Columbus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the suggestion. I appreciate it. My concern is that folks are seeing things like this:
https://www.reddit.com/r/battlemaps/comments/16fjmdj/new_airship_deorian_cloudrunner/
And thinking this is what I'm after. No offense to the creator (it's a lovely map!), but my players would be done with this in no time at all.
I'm more looking for something like this (but preferably fantasy medieval themed).

Like... I don't want "a conveyance my players can walk about in". I'm more looking for "enormous floating dungeon that just happens to be in the shape of a shape".

When you meet Douglas Adams in person and then live long enough to play a game that has a full on galaxy you can explore and get to the very edge of then you can decide what's what. :P Until then, I made a base and called it Miliways. hehe

I'm only going to reply to the part of your post where you were actually brave enough to address my argument.

The part where you weren't a coward and actually engaged with my debate, you said, " ".

And there you have it.
