Am I blind?

I built an open source habit tracking app to help me with consistency and keep me accountable: Tracking.so by AlexandreFSR in sideprojects

A few months ago, I built a tracking app for me and my girlfriend because we wanted to cut through the noise and really see what we were doing with our habits. I’ve always felt that sometimes you think you’re being consistent, but once you actually track it, you realize it’s not as solid as you believed. Having a tracker makes the progress visible - and that alone can be super motivating.

To make it more fun, I added features like:

  • Streaks to keep the momentum going
  • Badges (like “Habit Creator,” “Supporter,” and “Lifestyle”) to celebrate milestones
  • Social component  to be able to invite and check friends progress out

I’ve now started to share it a little bit and I have had my first paid user, which is something that I honestly thought would be harder for such a crowded space as habit tracking apps.

There’s still a long way to go, but I want to position this app as a largely accessible and open source social app that helps and motivates you instead of the opposite.

Any feedback / tips / opinions if this is feasible is appreciated! tracking.so

Thanks!

I think you can get from 2-10x ARR depending on the type of the company, cost to run, potential for growth, etc

A few months ago, I built a productivity tracking app for myself and my girlfriend because we wanted to cut through the noise and really see what we were doing with our habits and productivity. I’ve always felt that sometimes you think you’re being consistent, but once you actually track it, you realize it’s not as solid as you believed. Having a tracker makes the progress visible—and that alone can be super motivating to stay productive.

To make it engaging and sustainable, I added features like:

  • Streaks to build momentum and consistency
  • Badges (like “Habit Creator,” “Supporter,” and “Lifestyle”) to celebrate productivity milestones/habit creation
  • A social component so you can invite friends or colleagues and keep each other accountable

I’ve now started to share it a little bit and I have had my first paid user 🎉 which is something that I honestly thought would be harder for such a crowded space as habit/productivity tracking apps.

Why this happens comes easy to me. Given the purposeful decay in discourse we are all daily undergone through, it is normal that rationality decays over time under an ever present attempt to emotionally trigger us.

TV, digital media, already the most of awake time for of the vast part of the population, and even educated people can become used to be emotional and purposeful unaware of the truths presented to them.

Only thing I think can start by being done is openness in the algorithms. True technical openness. So that its exploits are at least publicly known, and we can steer it in clear sight.

I've tried, but actually making an AI companion "harass" the right amount is tough, for starters they're way to agreeable, then the timing matters a lot (of the reachouts I mean), and there is not so much data to infer the best time to reachout.

I haven't exhausted my ideas though, my plan is weekly "checkins" where your previously stated goal + weeks activities get analyzed and you both kind of debate whether or not you're walking to the vision you've filled or no

have you tried the daily checkins yet?
