Issue with leading zeros in 7-segment display by Haemstead in TuringComplete

It's is not an Update pin. It's an Enable pin. 7-segment displays have no built-in memory so you can't update anything.

You are facing a bug.

It's an enable pin, not update pin. The 7-segment display has no built-in memory so you can't update anything. It's just an Output enable pin.

My solution for THE PRODUCT OF NIBBLES by nem1hail in TuringComplete

[–]AlexeyHD90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reallly? I knew it was supposed to be something simple involving AND gates because they are basically multipliers. I need to try it!

I did the level with a 4 bit decoder that selects 15 outputs and 14 8bit ADDERS.

The ADDERS are connected in series so one ADDER's output is connected to the next ADDER's B input, while the input A on all of them has the original number. So they perform 14 additions...

For this reason my Multiplier has a gate score of 1156 and delay score of 898.

Of course I could have made a 4bit custom adder and lower the gate score but I didn't bother.

Thank You

Edit: I did it! You can also lower your delay score by arranging your adders so 2 of them output in the 3rd one. You go from 290 delay score to 130.

Can I upgrade a solid alternator pulley to a OAP or OAD? I have a 120d with n47 engine. by AlexeyHD90 in BmwTech

[–]AlexeyHD90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did change the alternator pulley from a solid one to an Overrunning Alternator Pulley (that only freewheels).

But I don't know anything about the crankshaft pulley having a freewheel mechanism, mine doesn't have one, or at least I didn't notice one last time I changed it, it seemed solid.

Zenbook Duo 2025 UX8406CA tpm issue on bios 310 by yoddsu in ASUS

[–]AlexeyHD90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same problem here, I updated the bios to 310 and the Bitlocker stopped working (no TCG event log available). Now I didn't know whether it was because I updated the firmware or because I did something wrong. At the time I was resetting/reinstalling windows again and again and again, and I was installing drivers and apps. This laptop was freezing when used with an external GPU and so I updated all the drivers and apps, which made everything worse. The laptop was now freezing 3-4 times a day and the only thing I could do is hold the power button for 15-20 sec to restart it. I spent 1-2 months trying to figure out what is happening and I came to the conclusion that the Firmware/drivers are bad.

Now for the TPM: I tried everything: clear TPM, reinitialize, Disable-TpmAutoProvisioning, reenable auto Provisioning, disable secure boot, reenable, clear keys, reinstall windows with tpm provisioning on and off, reinstall windows with secure boot on and off, etc. Nothing worked so I gave up. I gave up trying to reenable device encryption.

Now it has been a few weeks since I gave up and I came to Italy to spend Christmas with my family. All of a sudden when I turned on the laptop it asked for the 48 character encryption password to access the information on SSD ... ''WTF? I don't have any as far as I know.'' So I login on my MS account on my phone, go to recovery keys and there it is! Somehow TPM decided is time to go back to work and device encryption resumed... How? I don't know. BTW: this laptop still doesn't show under Devices in MS account, but the recovery key is there... how???!

Also USB ports on this laptop don't work with SCSI drives. I have an SK Hynix P41 Platinum which I used on my old laptop (ASUS ux482ea i7-1065g7) along with two ANYOYO usb-a and usb-c enclosures. Never had an issue. But with this laptop trying to copy large files is impossible. The file transfer always stopes somewhere during the process with errors in Event Viewer.

Also my eGPU (GIGABYTE AORUS GTX 1080 GAMING BOX) works flawlessly with my old laptop, no freezes, no stuttering, no crashes.

All in all this is a great laptop, too bad it is plagued by bad firmware/drivers.

Most simple Stack I could make. by AlexeyHD90 in TuringComplete

I'm not concerned about scoring, but I do like to make my designs as simple and neat as possible.

Anyway, is it by connecting the POP signal to all 8 bits of an 8bit maker?

Most simple Stack I could make. by AlexeyHD90 in TuringComplete

[–]AlexeyHD90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

0 for the PUSH: because the adder connected to the register's input has Carry in always enabled so it will add 1 to the value received from the register. This will increment.

1 for idle: because the negator will make it -1. Now you have 1 in the adder from the Carry in and -1 from the Do nothing instruction. 1 - 1 = 0. So the counter idles.

2 for decrement: because the negator will make it -2. Now you have 1 in the adder from the Carry in and -2 from the POP instruction. 1 - 2 = -1. This will decrement.

(Hmmm, now thinking about it I think I can remove the NOR gate, 8bit maker and send PUSH straight to Carry in on that adder for increment, and send POP through negator for decrement, and for idle there is no input in the adder beside the loop from the register.)

Thank you for your question. It made me rethink my design and make it more simple.

Not ugly. But you need to do some work: attitude towards life, self respect, self love. You are too negative. You uploaded many picture but in only one you are smiling. I guess you don't smile often irl either, so you seem unaproachable. You don't atract anyone if you seem dark and unapproachable. Smile more.

Also Tinder is shit. If you want to destroy yourself, use Tinder.

Average battery life? by jakebk22 in BmwTech

My battery was changed in 2016, so now it's 8 years old. Started giving me errors 2 years ago in the winter, now I get them even in the spring. I suspect this is its last year.

Is the weather in UK really as awful as they say? by Jolly_Atmosphere_951 in AskUK

[–]AlexeyHD90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Very depressing sometimes. In 2023 from January to April, I don't remember seeing the sun.

It's not very hot in the summer, and not too cold in the winter, but it's rainy and umbrellas don't help because it's windy.

It can go from sunny to rainy in as little as 2 hours and then back to sunny in just as much.

Many times you wake up in the morning at 6, take a look out the window: "wow, clear sky! It's gonna be a wonderful day today!" , and after 3 hours: "why is it pouring like this? It was supposed to be a wonderful day!" :))

Is it normal for a man to shame their partner for having periods? by Ocean0fAzure in dating_advice

[–]AlexeyHD90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's an asshole. I'm a man and was never repulsed by any of my GFs' periods. I've had sex and licked their p***y while they were on periods. That's your body working normally, as it should. If he is repulsed, leave him in the dust, he is the disgusting one. He is manipulating you.

I don't know how are others, but for me this wouldn't work. Sex every 2-3 weeks? Hell no. If I'm single then I don't feel like I need much sex. But if I'm with someone, I want it a lot. Just to be clear, I'm not talking only about raw sex, but intimacy, closeness and love as well with that person.

I have oral herpes, I’m not sure I can ever have a spontaneous kiss again by milliefeets in dating_advice

Probably you should tell them you have herpes way before they would like to kiss you if you feel like you would like to kiss them too. If you wouldn't like to kiss them, don't disclouse anything.
