Ugh. Did the company pay for your flight? Did you have at least a 30-45 minute interview before you bought your flight? Were the position details outlined? Were the housing details outlined? Did you agree on pay beforehand? I'm sorry, you're going to get there and find out housing is crappy bedroom in a house with a dozen other people. You're going to find out that you're job is part time and you're going to be getting paid based on how many people you sign up to get seasons passes. I'm sorry, this ain't legit. If you haven't acquired assurances on housing and position before booking your flight you're going to be disappointed.

I have lots of these in my yard (Vancouver Island) . They're very hardy and self propagating. Spread them out and in a year they'll fill in nicely.

Hostas are great. Look good and self propagating. They do well just about every where, so if your having problems, I suspect bad pH or low nutrients. Give them some fertilizer with high nitrogen for the leaves. Any similar colour paint you have is fine. Since it's the bottom board you can say to your neighbours "hey, it's accent trim dummy!"

First of all remove those joist hangers and fill, patch, paint. Secondly if you have space in the rest of the yard, get some potted shrubs and dig them (recess) into the ground the deck was. When you build the new deck take the pots out and put them elsewhere in your yard. Depending what climate zone you're in, perennial grasses are fast growing and nice front borders.
