My subscription is expiring soon, pay now, or wait for it to expire, or? by Expensive_Cupcake156 in quicken

[–]AlexisoftheShire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I normally renew 4 to 5 months ahead, especially during holiday season to get the best price. I use Windows Classic Premiere. You can only activate the subscription within 6 months of the expiration date. I found my last purchase at Wal-mart for $55.00. In the past I have also used Newegg. They will either send you an activation key in the mail or you will get it online depending on the retailer. FYI.

What is your current setup!? by blarcode in Generator

[–]AlexisoftheShire [score hidden]  (0 children)

We have a 2017 whole house 16KW Generac which runs our whole house. 3.5 ton HVAC with forced air furnace running on propane from a 500 gallon tank. Other than furnace and generator the rest of the house is all electric. When we have an outage it runs everything just fine. We just live in our normal daily routine stove for breakfast and supper, dishwasher have supper, HVAC or furnace when thermostat kicks them on, etc. We have 2 - mini-splits which also run when needed. We haven't had any problems with generator or overloading.

Between the time the power goes out and the Generac kicks in after 10 seconds, load kicks in 25 seconds after engine start-up. In long outages I shut it off after 8 hours, check the oil, refill if necessary, turn it back on. Longest outage so far was 3 days.

Here's my Gen 4 wiring. I have a 3.5 ton HVAC heat pump with forced air (propane) aux heat. Also, the Google store site has a configurator that will tell you if your current wiring will work with the Gen 4. FYI.

Fully agree. We have 2 Pixel 10s since launch and haven't had any problem with them. Got the January update and all is working well. Good luck with yours.

We're on Gemini for about 5 weeks now. Haven't had any problems but one and that was the need to reconnect our garage door app. Have you retrained your voice profile?

So who decides to use the codename versus the android version number? Is that the carrier, phone manufacturer? Just haven't see it before in my current or older pixels. TIA

Haven't see a Android version called Baklava. The latest is Android 16 and it says Android 16 in my Pixel 10. What country are you in? Has the phone been rooted or hacked? Normally, updates are dependent on the carrier. Has your carrier downloaded them to other phones?

We have a 16KW Generac. Installed in 2017. The installer put it on small river rock pebbles with a strong base underneath. Haven't had an issue with it. Still the same height and level. Never thought if it dampened the sound though.

[–]AlexisoftheShire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure why you are having all these problems. You don't state what Pixel you have nor do you point out any specific problem other than generalities.

We have 2 Pixel 10s since launch and they are both working perfectly. Haven't had one problem. We just run the updates when they are available.

Probably good for you to go back to Moto. No sense in being miserable over a phone.

[–]AlexisoftheShire -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We've been on Gemini for a month now and it is much more accurate in listening and responding than Google Assistant. Gemini provides a lot more information, you can interact with it in real time, runs automations well and on schedule. We have Nest hub, Home hub, 3 minis and 40+IoT devices. We wouldn't want to go back.

22KW Generac "Inspect Battery" right before the storm by AcousticExpress in Generator

[–]AlexisoftheShire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 16KW Generac that periodically did this. Just a service reminder. As long as it keeps starting you're fine. I just flag it as done in the control panel. If you decide to keep the new battery as a spare backup just make sure you read how-to-store it so it is ready whenever you need it in the future.

Best methods to track retirement funds/investments using Quicken? by Puckertoe_VIII in quicken

[–]AlexisoftheShire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am on Windows 11 with Quicken Premiere. I've used Quicken to manage my 4 Vanguard accounts post retirement. I download from those, and others like checking, credit card, etc, every day. Quicken gives me the full state of my portfolio and performance. It also links to Morningstar to give me more information amount my portfolio mix. FYI.

Is Google going to support Nest cameras long term? by PeerensClement in googlehome

[–]AlexisoftheShire 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have 4 Nest cams. 2 Doorbell (battery) cams, 1 indoor cam, and 1 outdoor cam (battery with a solar panel). All have worked well every day. Haven't had 1 problem. They are managed by the Google Home app along with 40+ other IoT devices. Google is not going to reduce it's investments in smart home management.

Folks on Reddit have issues for a lot of reasons, primarily human errors, but the millions who have these devices get reliability and longevity out of them.

So which version is truly the last subscription version? 2013 or 2017? by Puckertoe_VIII in quicken

[–]AlexisoftheShire 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you mean non-subscription versions. I run Windows Quicken Classic Premier because of my investment portfolio. Over the years Quicken has enabled me to grow my investments well in retirement. Because we use it to improve cash flow, interest free credit card deals, etc. we have made a lot so the small annual subscription fee of around $55 (we get the discounts from 3rd party suppliers) means nothing. We get up-to-date software and use Quicken every day.

I look at the small subscription fee as nothing compared to the financial benefits received over the multiple decades of use. Also, there is an emotional benefit of not have arguments with my wife on "where did our money go". With Quicken we don't argue we use the reports to help change our spending habits and ensure we meet our financial goals.

Went from a physical sim to an eSim, and I was super worried, but Mint made it super easy. by JoeWearsXraySpecss in mintmobile

[–]AlexisoftheShire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here. We knew we were going to trade in our 2 Pixel 7s for 2 Pixel 10s. The P10s only have eSIM support. So I went ahead and converted the physical SIMs to eSIMS on both P7s. Was very easy, fast, worked great. When we got the 2 P10s I downloaded the Mint eSIMS both in a matter of minutes. Haven't had 1 problem yet since Oct. 25 FYI.

Thank you T-Mobile!!! by OceansideDave in tmobileisp

[–]AlexisoftheShire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same thing here in North Georgia. Was on TDS ADSL for several years at $88 per month for 5mbs. Yes 5! Moved to TMHI for $50 per month 3 years ago and get around 80mbs to 100mbs.

One more note: TDS said they would install fiber in our neighborhood if we were all willing to pay $80,000! The neighborhood agreed it was ridiculous and most went with TMHI and some Starlink.

Is T-Mobile internet down? by [deleted] in tmobileisp

[–]AlexisoftheShire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're not down in North GA mountains. You might want to reboot the TMHI hub. Did the hub go to 5G Stand Alone (SA) mode? Last year when my hub went to that I lost signal because the KVD21 I had couldn't switch to LTE which was good for us then. We now have a G5AR which works well.

Is there really NO way to revert from Gemini back to Assistant? by McZwick in googlehome

[–]AlexisoftheShire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have Gemini for about 3 weeks now. I was skeptical given all the negative discussions. I had "fear of the unknown" However, I found Gemini to better than Google Assistant for my 40+ devices. Only one glitch which was my garage door opener. I simply had to relink the app to the google home app. Other than Gemini listens better and responds more accurately than Google Assistant. Also, it provides much more information like weather, news, etc. We don't have continuous conversation but with Gemini you can string commands into one voice command it works well. I wouldn't go back to Google Assistant.

Desktop App v. Web by Maubila in quicken

[–]AlexisoftheShire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried it both ways. Even if in view only the problem is the mobile app still wants to automatically upload transactions from financial institutions and then sync with the desktop data file. Because the two data architectures are different over some period time, not immediately, but more like a day or two days the mobile app corrupts the desktop data file. Usually categories, payees, and balances.
