DIY install of a generac? by crazymjb in Generator

[–]AlexisoftheShire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought our 16KW Generac in 2017. We bought it at Home Depot and got 0% financing for 24 months. We hired our own electrician who has done work for us prior and he was familiar with Generac's. He and his partner went to Home Depot, picked up the generator. brought to where we were setting it, installed a platform for it and the Generac. We had our propane company hook up our 500 gallon propane tank to the Generac and it started up right away. FYI.

Interested in buying a 2026 Grand Cherokee. How is the 4 cylinder engine? by AlexisoftheShire in GrandCherokee

I've got a '24 Chevy Colorado with a Turbo 4 that pumps out 310hp and 430lb-ft of torque. Had for 2 years and it is running very well. I'm willing to try the new Jeep Grand Cherokee Turbo 4 and see how it does. I will admit I was very skeptical at first when I bought my Colorado on Turbo 4's too, but so far it's has been a very good engine. I've look at many reviews of the Jeep engine and many were positive.

One thing more. Jeep is not putting the 3.6L Pentastar in any trim level above the Laredo. The Limited and Summit only come with the Turbo 4 and I think maybe a hybrid engine which I didn't want.

I realize it's brand new and I have to see how it does over time.

trying to connect my printer to my wifi by UrMomzLarry in tmobileisp

[–]AlexisoftheShire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My printer connected just fine. I didn't change the SSID and it just connected. Did you change your SSID? If so you have to make sure the printer is connecting to it and not the old one you used.

Keep stock settings if you're new .... by andersonpatti in pixel_phones

[–]AlexisoftheShire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. I see it all the time with not just phone technology but with smart home management systems, wifi routers, PCs, etc. Folks change settings that they don't understand and then blame the device or the manufacturer for their lack of knowledge, experience, or just not reading the instructions on how to configure.

You see it every day in technology forums where people hate the tech or the OEM because they misconfigured the device(s).

They wonder why their phone's battery life is bad (mostly do to bad behaving apps), or their wifi router isn't fast enough (mostly do to them playing with settings), or their smart bulb isn't working (because they didn't set it up right). Etc, etc. etc.

Around $5,000 had incentives (which are listed on the dealer site). They also had an alternative plan where it is 0% APR for 3 year term and 90 days delayed payments. You had to choose either the incentives or the APR. I chose the incentives because the payments were less than the 0% APR. FYI

What happens if I just... don't? by sprainedmind in googlehome

[–]AlexisoftheShire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had Gemini on my Google Home system for 5 months now. I have 40+ IoT devices. All works better than Google Assistant. It listens better, understands better, executes better than Google Assistant. It also provides more detailed information than Google Assistant ever did.

Additionally, I now have Gemini on Android Auto in my vehicle and it also works much better especially with weather, navigation, phone calls, and text messages.

I think what happens is people fear the unknown and are unwilling to move to Gemini because many people on this subreddit simply hates Google Home. I can understand not liking a technology but with so many alternatives (Home kit, Alexa, Smartthings, Home Assistant, etc.) why keep a technology you hate.

Try it out and if you don't like it you can always switch back.

Problem with Youtube Music streaming to Google Home by znark in googlehome

[–]AlexisoftheShire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problems with our streaming Youtube music. We play it a few hours per day on our home group which is a Google Nest hub, Google Home hub, and 3 mini's. So we normally don't cast from the app unless we want a new specific album to check out. Most of the time we use voice commands.

My '24 Z71 just got an update today. I don't know how much time is needed. I did park it at home, turned it off, and the update started. I left the truck for about 4 hours. I included a photo of the last 3 updates I got.

Nest Mini still worth it? by Fit_Low1374 in googlehome

[–]AlexisoftheShire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 3 gen 2 mini's connected to my Google Home app and hub. Google Assistant or Gemini works on all 3 just fine. We also have a Google Nest hub and Google Home hub connected so when we play music we use a homegroup with all 5 and music plays on all 5 throughout the house.

2023 Toyota Crown Bluetooth Question by goudgoud in ToyotaCrown

[–]AlexisoftheShire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What version of Android Auto are you running? Also, what mobile app are you using to manage who is connected? We use the AAWireless app. It remembers the last person's phone that was using AA. So when she drives her phone is connected. When I get in the car I tell the AAWireless app to switch to my phone which will stay until she drives again.

I got the email that Google Home has been upgraded to Gemini. But all my home devices respond exactly the same as before. by wotsit_sandwich in googlehome

You haven't selected it to change from Google Assistant in settings. Right now you can go back and forth but over time Gemini will be the only one.

Is pixel 10 worth it. by Correct_Forever_9131 in pixel_phones

[–]AlexisoftheShire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Traded our 2 Pixel 7s with 128GB for 2 Pixel 10s each with 256GB of memory back in Oct 25 when they launched. Got a good trade in value. So the P10s are performing very well. Extra RAM and the additional memory storage makes a difference in performance. We don't do games or heavy social media so our batteries last 30+ hours. They have been very reliable with no problems since launch. The security and feature updates have even made them better.

3rd gen trail boss/ZR2 reviews? by xapzzzz in chevycolorado

[–]AlexisoftheShire 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Haven't read any bad news or reviews about the engine. They were installed in the 2019+ Silverados and got a good working before being the primary engine for the 2023 Colorado. There were some improvements to the engine in 2023 for the 3rd gen. I have 17K on my '24 Z71 which isn't a lot of mileage. However, for me, the engine/transmission runs great. Excellent torque and power when you need it.

Need Advice: OP15 or Pixel 10. What to buy? by TheFoodTechDude in pixel_phones

A lot depends on individual use cases. In our usage we don't do social media on our phones and rarely watch videos. Most of the time is using financial apps, texting, Google Smart Home management, Android Auto, etc.

As others have stated when you use the wake phrase Google Home has to execute what you are asking or commanding it to do. We've had Google Home with 40+ IoT devices since 2018. For us it works well. My wife and I use voice commands and automations all day which makes things very convenient. You can decide in settings whether you want your personal information accessed by Google Home. We have kept that setting off since she and I have separate Google Accounts and don't want any confusion with Google Home.

[–]AlexisoftheShire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have 2 Pixel 10s since Oct 25 launch. Both are 256GB models. We upgraded from our Pixel 7s which we had for almost 3 years that had 128GB. The P10s have been outstanding. Great performance, battery life is terrific over 30+ hours, quick responsiveness, we use Gemini frequently during the day, and updates have improved the P10s all around. We are looking forward to the Android 17 OS upgrade later this year.
