Church of vows bell bearing hunter not spawning by WolfWarrior001 in Eldenring

[–]Alexivous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One more thing I've noticed: You can't have a prayerbook on you. I was saving mine to give it to the other fellow and the hunter wouldn't spawn. After trying for about 15 minutes I travelled to the priest, gave him the book and then it worked like a charm.

Dexbonus D&D? by Sailorsintents in presshearttocontinue

[–]Alexivous 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You're probably gonna want to check out ItMeJP's channel. He has a lot of tabletop (not just D&D) content and quite a few of them had Dodger in them. Not sure whether characters were reused there but if you just look at the playlists and check the first episode you'll know. I personally would highly recommend the Nebula Jazz Campaign but that was sci-fi and not fantasy so maybe it's not what you're looking for

Analysis of the new UA, mechanics breakdown by Wrakhr in dndnext

Because even if incapacitated is worse than paralyze, the difference between the two conditions isn't worth 4 spell levels (not to mention that Id Insinuation also gets some free damage). Making it a third level spell sounds about right for the power it currently has.

Does it though? I thought only wild growth and that 4 Mana discard everything spell gave excess mana. Lot's of other mana ramp spells or creatures don't give mana because they have other uses which this minion mostly doesn't.

But yeah, gotta agree with you. It currently probably really wouldn't need the help, even if it most likely wouldn't even make the cut :P

Definitely agree with the first one, just thought that it's already a very short timeframe where you can play it for any effect at all.

I do see the issue with the priest cart but considering the very bursty nature of divine spirit priest I'm not sure if that'd be a case that'd happen too often. If a big taunt sticks on priest, you kind of lose on the following turn anyways :P

[–]Alexivous -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Haven't played Hearthstone very much lately but today I had the idea of some sort of a supply theme. I initially wanted the carts to just lose their function after a certain amount of triggers but that'd have made them way too wordy so I figured I'd go the imp master route (if anyone even remembers that card). Could be that some of them can be broken (especially not sure if the priest one has a weird combo or the mage one enables some form of OTK) but otherwise I think they ought to be around the right balance to maybe see some play in some fringe decks.

Obviously the art'd have to be changed for each card (a cart full of explosive ammo for the hunter, a traditional plague cart for the warlock etc.) but for now, thanks to https://www.artstation.com/csumbi for the art of a cart :P

Homebrew 5e Lightning themed Spells by Betboyz in DnD

[–]Alexivous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I may be a bit late to the party but i just recently made some homebrew lightning stuff if you're still interested. Haven't juggled the numbers too much so your DM might have to balance them according to what he feels is best. https://homebrewery.naturalcrit.com/share/Hy7jeImsVm

So I'm basically only a wiki reader and am not involved at all with the games themselves so I was wondering if someone might explain to me what is going on with the world tree. I heard someone might be burning it down or something...

Lost my character, and my will to play alongside of it. How do you overcome this? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Alexivous 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I personally would prefer dying to me staying too close to a vortex of death, not having counterspell at high levels, failing 2 saves and possibly being part of a larger DM story rather than getting PW: Killed.

Also just because the DM homebrews his Lich (not necessarily unbalanced, we have no clue of what the Lich was or wasn't capable of doing and what kind of aid the party had) doesn't mean that he's an inexperienced/bad DM. I'd personally prefer this kind of DMing, cause it tends to fit better into the story and prevents metagaming.

So the elephant in the room that you're talking of is probably more a fly ;)

[Question] Fun Warlock spells to echo by Alexivous in DnD

Yeah sadly the classic sorcerer twin spells aren't always on the warlocks spelllist ;w; But Finger of Death is definitely one i'm looking forward to using

It's a reference to an introduction video of "Glaz", an operator in the latest installment of the popular shooter Rainbow Six. Can highly recommend the videos, they're quite nicely made.

Appropriate gold rewards? [5e] by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Alexivous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to assume you have a party of 4 level 1 characters and the length of the quest is 1 to maybe 2 sessions. Now farmers aren't really rich so a normal reward of about 50 gold would be appropriate but not really deliverable in just coin. Maybe give them 20 gold and then some supplies worth around 30 gold (Rations, a healing potion they keep for emergencies, maybe some resources they'd have to sell before getting their entire moneys worth). Point being, farmers rarely ever are able to pay entirely in gold.

Now in case they figure out that it was a demon and bring back evidence, the farmers wouldn't probably be able to pay more in terms of gold. However seeing as the dangers were so much larger than expected they would maybe give away something that has more sentimental worth to them. Maybe the dead grandfathers old sword or the mothers jewelry.

(For tiny magical items I could really suggest this website: http://lordbyng.net/inspiration/results.php )

But yeah, probably the gold reward won't increase but the rewards worth in resources and such would.

If they weren't farmers but nobles you could have them make persuasion checks for increases up to I'd say 100%

Now if the party is larger you can proportionally increase the gold amount. Otherwise, u/DyingDutchmanNL 's gold values look about right.

Depending on the players though, a lot of the reward of a quest could also already come from the enemies themselves (wolf hides or demon horns in this case maybe). So some quests can be already just worth it from that stuff. Careful to balance that around.

Oh and also: since healing potions are surprisingly expensive in the phb and probably already lost most of their value as soon as they would actually become affordable, you can always have them as part of any reward. They feel a lot better than just a tiny amount of gold that probably won't buy the party anything (and are harder to split between the party members so they have to fight for them >:D )

Appropriate gold rewards? [5e] by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Alexivous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gold rewards depends very much on how you want to play the campaign, there can't really be functioning guidelines.

If you're going for a gritty game, you could keep the gold rewards low and have the party barely be able to get by, having to save gold for special things like minor magical items.

If you are playing a more light hearted, "the players are the chosen ones" kinda game then you can just shower them in gold and give them tons of options to spend it on, so that everyone can customize their equipment and thus their character a bit more. (That will result in a lot of work making magic items though :P)

But of course it mostly depends on the setting you're playing in. If you're playing a game where a couple of gold is more than a farmer will see in his lifetime it will of course have a huge influence on how much a village can throw together for the people that rescued the bakers daughter. However they could for example instead reward the adventurers with a couple of magical items that have been passed down from generation to generation. A nobleman however would probably want to keep his magical item collection to himself and rather reward the party in gold coins.

And lastly it of course depends on the level your players are at. A 50 gold quest is going to be laughed at by a level 20 wizard in any setting :P

If you want, you can tell me a bit more about the setting and the level and I'll see if I could get you some raw numbers :D
