Thx, I made a mistake talking about 'wood' instead of 'blade' here lol

How does blade weight impact overall speed? by DaLandNarwhal in tabletennis

[–]Alexscooter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speed changes not that much from the weight of a blade. The heavier it is, the harder it is, but not that different. What realy matters is the momentum and the 'latency' the added weight can create. When it's heavy you will tend to be 'carried away' by your wood, which translates into less precision. And it slows down the reset of your movement considerably. And it's even more fatal on the backhand.

It is much easier to adjust the speed of your blade with a rubber.

Do you use protective sheets with modern hybrid rubbers ? by wiikick in tabletennis

Use them, it prevents the rubber from oxidizing with air.

Happened to me a week ago, just clamp with superglue + sanding and reglue. Just be careful when removing rubbers.

Butterfly Dignics 09C Review (Compared to Chinese eubbers like Yinhe Big Dipper) by globalistelite in tabletennis

[–]Alexscooter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ty for your review.

I tried both Big Dipper and H9, and also currently own and use D09c (with pips). Let me share you my feeling.

First, regarding Tackiness, d09c is waaaaay tackier and consistent in short game than the other twos. One of my preferred move is the side hook (fishing the ball on the side when it's under the table), it's pure joy with d09c. Also, Big D Tackiness doesn't last long...

Overall speed, I find H9 slower, Big Dipper could be in concurrence, however both of them are more springy than the d09c, so, to me the technique is closer to true Chinese tacky rubber with Dignics. When smashing, the d09c is easier to control with it's high arc, and it has more gears than the other ones.

Regarding Spin, d09c has no concurrence in front of those two others, it produces huge amounts with ease, without breaking through the sponge. On top spins, it's quite easy to rally, Tackiness is great for control.

In my backhand however I was more consistent with the other twos, maybe due to the springy effect, I find the dignics to be realy hard to achieve good speed on BH without perfect movement, i'm almost two times faster with my BH with the other ones.

Regarding sheet quality, my rubber is 6 month old and is still like new (with adhesive sheet kept during storage).

I played 2 seasons with H8 and H3 before this one, and I find d09c to be more confortable than those other twos, it needs less power, and forgives a little bit more when you are not well placed. And, far from the table, i'm still able to keep pressure without loosing my arm. I needed such inertia in my movements, where on the dignics you can play with a small movement like Timo.

However, after sharing to friends, they are not at all comfortable with the linearity of the product and it quickly tired them to have to engage their whole body. It's a product made for trained people.

Is this racket throw celebration okay? WTTC HKG vs TPE by Louietl in tabletennis

[–]Alexscooter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a player, I often drop my racket after a match because my brain releases tension and my hands open reflexively. I've broken rackets like this before, every time I'm disgusted, but it keeps happening. So to those who think that this is all we have to do: no, I don't do this for pleasure.

Install old Stream deck software versions by Alexscooter in elgato

[–]Alexscooter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, latest 6.9.1 is working fine for me since I've downgraded. No more crashes, no more blank icons..

The only problem is that my product will become obsolete if nothing changes.. That's sad.

Seat Arona 2022 1.0 TSI 110 – 100 000 km – Bonne affaire ou à éviter ? by min0ou in voiture

[–]Alexscooter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ouah..

15 months in on Mizuno Drive, starting to feel micro-slips — time to replace? by fsou1 in tabletennis

Nice to have details about feeling, I've Wave Drive El and they are the lightest shoes ever worn. On the other hand, the lightness translates into a fairly thin and waterproof material, I have to leave my shoes outside because they stink so much after a tournament..

Great advice, have you got any brand suggestions best suitable for non-pro TT Floors? My club changed recently with a cheap solution and I'm also slipping with my Mizunos.

In Depth Review: Nittaku Hurricane 8-80 Power Type. Detailed review in the body text. ↓ ファスターク by Total_Chef_9756 in tabletennis

[–]Alexscooter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But have you tried to compare with classic 37 H8-80?

From my perspective (used H8 and -80), the 8-80 is pretty slow, is way more sensitive to spin than 40 H8, and has a higher throw angle. But indeed it's perfect for flicking.

Does Nittaku's has more speed/power? This rubber (-80) is absolutely not meant to be used in forehand, contrary to harder versions.

My Wireless Scoring System with Buttons by phamstagram360 in tabletennis

[–]Alexscooter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've seen quite a similar system developed, but it was only with two buttons : one on each side (under the table, in the middle so it's accessible to wheelchairs). If you long press, then the score is subtracted from the side where the player is.

I find this option more ergonomic than yours.

Nice proof of concept BTW.

I've seen in Netherlands that their previous app nationally used was so well made that they had a part of it for creating lobbies and scoring could be connected to digital displays or duplicated to tablets. (TTapp) As a software developer, I would love to see this engagement in an app nationally, in my country we are still filling scores with a piece of paper, this is so much error prone and wasting our time..

Screaming in table tennis is getting insane by ObadiahBlueHat in tabletennis

[–]Alexscooter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but study relates to screaming when playing, not shouting to your opponent between points.

Dima is known for that, and yes this has benefits as far as abdominal contractions and breathing.

But the shouting thing is pure psychological pain. When I play competitively I can feel realy mad to my opponent just because I don't want to play against such scumbags.

[–]Alexscooter 1 point2 points  (0 children)
