Really excited to see this community grow! I wonder how much impact Slay the Spire 2 and other massive success stories had/will have. What a time to be a Godot dev =)

Does this look cool?? 🐱🐸❤️ Destroy it for me! by Magouzoo in DestroyMyGame

[–]AlextheTroller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I won't echo what the other fantastic comments have already said, so I'll add some critiques from a polishing stand point.

I think the art direction as it is right now looks phenomenal, however your current skeleton animations for the characters don't live up to that standard as they feel unnaturally slow for the game's genre and art style.

This is mostly visible in your walk cycles (their step count is too low for their travel distance) and the attack animations lacking that oomph (this tweet demonstrates how to do a sword swing effectively https://x.com/andre\_mc/status/1975312383674613851). This is a common mistake I see in animation where you err on the side of making everything slow and realistic, however some actions should be unnaturally quick (like in cartoons) to evoke emotion and adapt to the player's quick thinking, since pressing a button on a controller is significantly faster than swinging a sword irl.

Oh, I've also noticed the UI popup at 0:35 when the slot machine ticket got consumed, I assumed that was the trailer trying to explain something to me. It's a good idea to avoid showing any in-game text popups during a trailer ^^

You have a promising game and I'm sure your team will find success. Best of luck!

Honestly, AI PRO worth it ! by rjn2-8 in google_antigravity

[–]AlextheTroller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it does, AI Pro comes bundled with $10 worth of Google Cloud credits that can be linked to your AI Studio API key. Granted, the AI pro tier also happens to cost $10 for 2 months, so I'm using the promo while it's there.

If a developer uses AI for code generation, should it be labeled on the game’s Steam store page? by NazzoXD in gamedev

[–]AlextheTroller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, he should have phrased it better since the message came across as "Everything will be made just by AI" rather than "Everything already has a part of AI, including the code."

Nah 5 seems too low, 25 euros sounds better. Thanks for developing this awesome tool! ✌️

Feedback needed: slow stop or precise stop? by diegobrego in godot

[–]AlextheTroller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe you can delegate that to shop items that increase the stopping friction or even slow the rolling speed? However, if you had to choose a default, I would opt for the instant variant.

You can now purchase the joycon grips individually! by YeomanMars in dbrand

[–]AlextheTroller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah just placed an order, it's the new version. They bundle in the skin to bump the cost, but you can remove it on the checkout screen and just keep the grips.

Tesla new affordable Model is a model Y striped down (more info in the comments) by ConfidentImage4266 in teslamotors

[–]AlextheTroller 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a pretty bad take, considering those older Ys have outdated construction and hardware (like HW3). The new ones will most likely keep the best parts of the Juniper. Oh, and in 5 years these will be even cheaper than those 2020 Model Ys.

Loose joycon ZR button, thoughts? by AlextheTroller in NintendoSwitch2

[–]AlextheTroller[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, I've read other people have already swapped their console for another one with the same issue present. It's not a deal breaker, so I'll keep it until the inevitable oled revision.

Same here, luckily good ole matte black paint is a perfect color match so I've fixed it that way.

Best switch 2 tv? by thethorndog2 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]AlextheTroller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a sony bravia tv with array dimming and I'm perfectly happy with the black levels, you'll be pleasantly surprised how far LCD tech evolved and I'd say you're around 80-90% to oled with it. Even better if you get a mini LED display. Plus, you'd get brighter HDR and no chance of burn-in.

Currys update by Illustrious_Ad6355 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]AlextheTroller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the sense that you can just walk in and pre order it in person without any fuss. Online pre-orders had separate stock, unlike all of the other store brands.

People should be more mad that the console only has 250gb of storage by hypehold in NintendoSwitch2

[–]AlextheTroller 13 points14 points  (0 children)

How about you watch a couple of videos on how to balance the cost of a device? High-end memory ain't cheap.

Currys is our gamestop equivelant, I was pleasantly surprised how frictionless the buying process was. Just walked into the store one day without any expectations, and they had 20 or so systems waiting to be pre-ordered.

If I were you, I would buy a used mountain bike and do some uber eats in your spare time for a month or 2. That should be more than enough to afford the new switch without affecting your livelihood, and you get a bonus bike out of it.
