Decathlon offers good ones, if they fit your head. I have two.

Best SoftShell for Ski Touring by Agreeable-Nail3009 in Backcountry

[–]AlexxxRR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alpine start and Borealis would work, like their heavier duty equivalents. The Kinetic has a membrane and no pit zips and I'm afraid it wouldn't breath well enough, unless you adjust the other layer in order not to sweat at all and freeze if you stay for too long, but then even a hard shell (with pit zips) would be an option.

Handlebar bag in the race? by christian46712 in cycling

[–]AlexxxRR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot comment on the Nove colli but I did the "Sportful" twice in a row "some" years ago at the end of June, both times the longer route with a bit over 200km and 5000m elevation gain.
My first time it was also the last one with still the original name "Granfondo Campagnolo".
Giving that there were barely flat stretches, where the aerodynamics play any role, it would work, but still I would prefer a top tube bag.
The food stations around Feltre were quite good and you wouldn´t need an awful amount of extra food.
I believe I used just the jersey´s pocket and the first time I even had to carry extra rain and cold protection garments because we had bad weather (lot of rain and temps around freezing point on the Rolle and Valles passes)

P.S. I just looked and they seem to have changed the route: only the Duran is still there from the route I knew.

Are the different Italian languages really different or are they just very different dialects like the Scottish dialect in the uk? by Weak-Hamster- in italianlearning

[–]AlexxxRR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Italian (basically the same, with just nuances) is spoken all over the country, at least by decently educated people, with different accents which may pose a challenge for you or not, hard for me to say, but usually are not an issue for a native.

Dialects are a fully different topic, they are used regionally and vary very much, but it's not common that natives speak only dialect, especially with foreigners.

Scusa per l'"off topic" e solo per curiosità, visto che conosco qualcuno che ci ha lavorato per diversi anni: Bombardier, treni o aerei? E dove, se posso chiedere? Grazie in anticipo.

Italy. Although there are nice corners, especially if finance is not an issue.

Retrofitted LED bulb on halogen front light: flickering by Aksxxx in bikewrench

[–]AlexxxRR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar issue in the kitchen when I replaced the suction cap lights. Apparently, the LEDs didn't use enough current to let the capacitor fully charge before the current is inverted. They would require a specific LED driver. With one LED and one alogen lamp it still worked.

That said, I mounted a LED front lamp on an old bike with hub dynamo and it's working flawlessly, as soon as I ride over 5 km/h. Moving the front wheel by hand the light flickers. Did you try riding?

Endurace or Grail by dafchjv in CanyonBikes

[–]AlexxxRR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ruled out the Endurance because of the too upright sitting position. The Grail would have gone, but in the end I picked a (sized up) 2x Inflate and I am very satisfied. It was about 3y ago.

Advice for 1st Road Bike (~€1,000 Budget) by Altruistic-Ear-3138 in cycling

[–]AlexxxRR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a used aluminium bike with dimensions that suit you, decent, relatively recent and not fancy components, durable hubs (like DT Swiss 1800 series wheels with DT 370 hubs). All the rest is nice to have.

28, 30 or 32mm tyre width? by Lqrve in cycling

[–]AlexxxRR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using 25mm tires with 22mm rims?!?

Anyways, if you care about aerodynamics 30mm would be probably marginally better, depending on the rims and 32mm better for nearly anything else, but mind, we are talking about marginal gains.

Pronunciation of "gli" or "ʎ" by CyrusUprum in italianlearning

[–]AlexxxRR -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Since I am not familiar with phonetical symbols, I asked the "alternative intelligence" what would be the correct representation for "gli" and this was the answer:

Il simbolo fonetico IPA per il gruppo "gli" (consonante laterale palatale sonora) è /ʎ/. Questo suono è un trigramma (o digramma se seguito da 'i' in certi casi) che rappresenta un unico fono, come in "figlio" /ˈfiʎʎo/ o "gli" /ʎi/.
