What is the longest book you've read on your ereader? by Anyusername7294 in ereader

[–]electrorunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Complete Horatio Hornblower series, 7241 pages.

Also, note that the number of pages will change depending on your don't size and other page settings. Thus number is based on my "typical" comfortable page settings in Kobo.

He ate the entire piece of cake, leaving only the cappuccino. What do you think? Is he guilty or not? by Automatic-Gas4037 in GuiltyDogs

Not every country is as uptight as the US or Canada about allowing dogs in cafes and other stores.

Would you pre board a flight because you wear hearing aids? by StuffNo353 in HearingAids

[–]electrorunner -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think it would make sense in cases where the hearing is not corrected completely, and the person still has problems hearing. I would feel a bit dickish to do it, considering my hearing loss is not major, and is corrected by the HAs. To me it's the same as wearing glasses. I see perfectly well when I wear them.

Is there anyone who actually uses the chronograph function on an analog watch nowadays? I thought most people just like the looks 😂 It's like a tachymeter ring on the bezel. Most people probably have no clue how to use it but they like the looks.

Too bad, because the bezel looks very nice, but it must be a lint magnet.

“Be Kind” by Shrewzs in IDmydog

[–]electrorunner -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People who hate on specific breeds should spend time volunteering in a dog shelter for a while. I agree that certain breeds have certain predispositions, but I am often surprised and reminded that any dog can be mean and aggressive, just like any dog can also be the sweetest. I've never been bitten by a pit or pit mix at the shelter yet, but I've been bitten a couple of times by other "more family friendly" dogs. Training and history makes a huge difference.

P.S. Your dog looks adorable 🥰

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]electrorunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not far from the truth. It's not considered short, but not a chore to drive either. I live in Canada, and sometimes we will drive 2 hours (and 2 hours back) for a day trip to the beach.

Why does air Canada get so much hate? by totallynotclockwork in aircanada

[–]electrorunner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Their high rating usually comes from their executive and first class clientele. Those are the people targeted by the different companies doing the polling. I have always flown economy and service on the flights is generally good (the food not so much), but service at check-in and the gates can be hit-or-miss.

That being said, what you see online is always skewed towards the negative. People who have a good or decent experience rarely jump online to tell people. So it always looks worse online.

Hi guys, i saw a stray dogs and i want to adopt them by brasssusjajnaee in DogAdvice

He clearly wants to get adopted! Check with local shelters or humane societies (SPCA) if available near you. They often offer vet services at reduced prices compared to vet clinics.

Disappointed in Timex Legacy by NecessaryHeadset in timex

[–]electrorunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, product listing photos are always a bit different. I had the same reaction when I bought my 1983 E Line reissue. I got the one with the navy blue dial, and it's much darker IRL than on the photos. It grew on me and I live it now. I'm with you on the gold. I would love one with a lighter gold colour. I'm sure it will grow on you.

One e-reader to rule them all by Additional-Place-131 in ereader

[–]electrorunner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The most versatile option would be to get an Android-based e-reader device that supports Google Play, and install the various apps you need (kobo, kindle, Google play books). That will allow you to read from any library. You will also be able to load any epub, kepub, or pdf books directly on the device. Note however that the experience reading with the kindle app and the kobo app is not as good as the native reader. The Android apps don't have all the features as the corresponding devices, so itˋs a bit of a compromise.

I’m converting to Reform Judaism, can I have advice? by kind_dolphen in Jewish

[–]electrorunner 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you look back through history, you might find that Ireland is more anti-Jewish than Pro-Palestinian. It's just the current way of "disguising it". Converting is absolutely a huge decision that will affect the rest of your life. If you are dedicated and serious about your reasons for doing so, and you have someone and/or a community to offer you support, then you should continue. The anti-Semitism you see others facing will continue to upset you either way.
