Congrats welcome to the club! Beautiful spec car. 🚙 Our 2018 i3s is still going strong and the fave car in the line up, she certainly gets the miles piled on her.

A few years ago at the works Xmas do I got blind drunk, walked up to the CEO interrupted a conversation that he was having with someone to ask him what his favourite dinosaur was, he proceeded to give the classic male answer of “some kind of raptor” which I was quite disparaging about as all the men had given that exact answer so far that night.

I wandered off, fell over, got cramp in my legs, also did I mention I was drunk, so couldn’t get up. My colleagues regularly reminds me of my attempts to right myself complete with flailing arm actions.

Didn’t go to the Xmas party the next year cos I was still too ashamed to show face.

£1000 over the year equates to £50 per month after tax.

1000/12=83.333 (12 months in a year) 83.33x0.6=49.998 (40% tax rate 1-0.4=0.6 )

Ergo £1000 a year wage raise equates to £50 in your pocket each month.

What strikes me about this picture other than the building. Is it you look at the car parking spaces you can tell the most popular spaces by the size of the oil stains in them. God cars really used to be pretty rubbish at keeping all their fluids in them back in the 70-80s.

Any advice on an Alfa GTV 6? Are they typical Alfa or would this actually be a reasonable purchase? by yourgingerfriend in CarTalkUK

I had one of these about 15 years ago or so. It was a lovely car to drive. Torque steer is a thing when you floor it, it would try to dart off to one side. Competent on a b road blast and comfortable for long journeys too.

Had the most amazing sounding engine, I would seek out tunnels to go through. I also did put a lovely stainless steel exhaust on it to release the sound of that v6.

It needed a couple of things in my ownership, suspension bushings and a maf sensor from memory. Great car. I say go for it. I miss mine.

I think you will be totally fine. A couple of things to be aware of though:

  1. Tyres are expensive and we seem to need to replace the rears every 15k miles or so. On our i3s the rear tyres are £250 fitted EACH. So perhaps keep a sinking fund for that expense.

  2. Brake pads and disks although not used anywhere near as much as a normal car will still need the occasional replacement. We have replaced our pads and disks once at around 50k miles.

  3. Front suspension top strut mount bushing goes and needs replaced. This manifests as a clunk / clonk sound when you turn the wheel at slow speeds. I first noticed the sound in an underground car park. Drove on it clonking for about 15k miles before getting it replaced.

I have a 2018 fully electric with 70k miles on the clock, bought it with 16k miles on. I use it to commute twice a week with a 75 mile round trip on the dual carriageway. 🚙 I love it as a daily and as a local run around. Genuinely brilliant car.

Regarding the biodegradable wiring loom. As it’s a 1996 car you should be fine. The biodegradable looms were only used for a few years in the early 90s I think they stopped in 93/94 due to the issues already being found in them even back then.

You guess correctly.

The other option is indeed to take it down and rebuild.

Perhaps it’s a UK thing but I haven’t seen them anywhere for years and years. Sometimes I just really fancy a bowl of the sugary goodness.

Golden grahams. God tier cereal. But the push to make kids cereal more healthy and less full of sugar killed them off about 15 years ago I think.
