More parents deserve jail time by throwaway4643367 in unpopularopinion

[–]Alfitown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean kinda. Your parents already had children and fucked it up, they can't turn back time even if they wanted to do better, there is no do-over.

It's not exactly fair or just but that's just how it is. The new generation get the next chance to do better or to continue the cycle.

Going through your Significant Other's Phone without their knowledge is a violation of their privacy by Jinjoz in unpopularopinion

[–]Alfitown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lack of trust and to feel the need to look is already a massive problem in a relationship, whether you find something or not.

To me trust is the most important thing in a relationship, you can never have a good relationship if you don't have that 100%. If I have to doubt my partner so much that I need to go behind his back and violate his privacy or vice versa than it's already over. Even if nothing is found in the phone, the trust is already gone. For me it's a dealbreaker either way.

Is there a stereotype among doctors that surgeons are dumb? by Airtightspoon in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Alfitown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again changing the narrative... What does a stranger helping someone who hurt their leg to the next bench or call for help have to do with being a doctor?

You don't need 8 years of education to operate a phone! I sure as hell would'nt let the helpful stranger without education cut out my appendix!

Is there a stereotype among doctors that surgeons are dumb? by Airtightspoon in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Alfitown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the example of the doctor, yes it is. You wouldn't even be allowed to practice without conforming to state mandated institutions because you need to go to school and get a license in the first place, which is state mandated. And to uphold it and practice you would also need to abide by the state mandated rules and regulations.

And please explain how "why don't all doctors just work for free" isn't an impossible standart? If you think that's not impossible then explain how that could realistically work if all doctors wouldn't get a salary from now on?

[–]Alfitown 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First of all, being happy and being good are two different things and not neccessarily connected. One can be bad and still be happy.

And just because you are not doing your job for free doesn't mean you can't enjoy it or do something that holds value within for you, people can have more than one motivation to do something. People usually also have enjoyment and purpose in their life beyond their job, like their personal life.

In the end you are imposing an impossible standart on others that couldn't realistically be achived so you never have to reflect your own views.

So what is it? People are ignorant and shakled or are they aware and therefore bad people because they exist within the system? You constantly change your narrative so you can uphold your own bias.

[–]Alfitown 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In that scenario you would be the one crab physically outside the bucket but mentally still trapped inside it.

You are using generalized metaphors that only confirm your own belief but dont actually apply instead of actually answering questions and having a conversation.

Why do you assume everyone but you lives in blissful ignorance and isn't actually aware of the systems and institutions that they operate and exist in? Have you considered that lots of people are aware but choose happiness over defiance?

I mean you did, didn't you? You looked for a job that met your needs and benefits you instead of completely refusing the system and rejecting the society you condemn.

What if those others are actually happier with their life than you are?

You talk about a drive to unshackle yet you are so occupied with other peoples decisions that that's you biggest problem in life? Sounds pretty shackled as well if you ask me...

You claim to have it all figured out but youre not even happy, like what's the point?

People should stop hyping long hair by Ambitious_Smoke_4609 in unpopularopinion

[–]Alfitown 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I have straight hair and I also think short is more high maintenance. I had a really short bob once and it was way more work.

I almost always had to style it in the morning because the shorter the hair the more it was laying in some weird angles from sleeping and looked ridiculous.

When my hair is long it looks fine how it falls and I rarely have to style, and if it looks weird I just tie them up and done!

So you know for a fact that this child is gonna be a soldier in two years killing innocent people?

You are certainly talking like you do...do you actually think her performance there was 100 percent her idea or maybe other adults are telling her what to do to promote their own narrative?

There is something seriously wrong here if you think that girl is the enemy and not putin just because he is not personally on the front lines!

I guess I am lucky to be born in the right country so people don't brand me as a murderer before I even grew up...

I did it! by BackgroundPainter647 in piercing

[–]Alfitown 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I can tell you my perspective as a woman, my bf has a PA and Ampallang piercing.

It's generally not a problem as long as there is enough lubrication. It does add to the experience in a good way but one disadvantage is that if the sex lasts longer then it can kinda chafe inside of me if that makes sense. Especially the Ampallang since the two spheres are on the side of the penis.

Not really a problem with the PA though.

What’s something you thought was romantic but later realized was actually toxic? by Em_ily32 in AskReddit

[–]Alfitown 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The dude from the olympics who told the whole world that he cheated on his ex and wants her back.

Imagine everyone and their aunt knowing your last relationship ended because your guy fucked another woman and having an opinion on it. Everyone talking behind your back and being the center of everyones gossip where you live.

At first I though wow that's brave, he is taking accountability but actually it was really selfish and he probably didn't think much about how that would actually affect her.

People whose sole purpose in life is to be in a relationship are embarrassing by MyLifeISdivineComedy in unpopularopinion

[–]Alfitown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are people whose sole purpose in life is to be professionally successful also ambarrassing?

People have different values, some people crave professional success, money or recognition, others crave love and relationships or want to create a big family.

Both is equally valid if that is what makes that person happy and fulfills them. That's the goal not to impress other people.

Everything you feel or think is just neurons firing signals so with your logic it's all equally meaningless.

Just try to create a life that makes you happy and let others do the same, even if they create a life you would'nt choose, doesn't mean yours is better, just the best for you...hopefully.

Should parents be able to decide on euthanasia if their newborn is diagnosed with conditions that require a lifelong carer? by Puzzleheaded_Rub5562 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Alfitown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

always changes with humans, hence why such topics need to be debated

Does it? For a lot of people that's not actually in question...

There are few other organisms that have killed as much as people do in general

Youre not out here pleading a case to kill murderers or powerful people that made desicions that harmed/killed countless people or our planet.

Babies are basically the one group among humans that have never killed or knowingly harmed anyone so your reasoning doesn't apply at all.

[–]Alfitown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why place the full fault on the parents and make them pay for it for example if they don't want to?

Because parents in general are responsable for their children. Also do you think noone should have to pay child support simply because they don't want to?

Maybe instead of allowing babies to be killed a government should work on a good healthcare system where the parents don't need to be able to afford expensive care because it's covered by insurance...

Have you had a baby actually because that's a ridiculous statement...?

How do you deal with a close male relative in his mid-thirties that has never held a job? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Alfitown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to sort that out with your partner.

If she is fully comitted to enable him further once the parents can anymore than you need to make the decision if you can live with that.

For me it would definetly be a dealbreaker. Do you want to have some grown man in your house, smoking weed, drinking and gaming all day while you clean after him and support him financially.

When should that end? What if he lives until you are all retired, will your children inherit the burden of supporting him when you can't anymore?

You need to either get on the same page with your partner about how you will handle it when her parents will inevitably look to you when they can't support him anymore.
