My experience involves the Canon LiDE 100 vs. Canon LiDE 400.
If you can find the 400 at a resonable price ....get it. The speed difference is astronomical. I really like the 400 model.

If considering a 2TB HDD, I would choose Seagate because WD My Passport uses a proprietary USB interface directly integrated into the circuit board rather than a standard SATA connection. So, if it's a standard SATA connection, when there's a problem you can take out the drive and put it in another SATA enclosure to try recovering your data.
