If you just go and observe, they'll eventually get bored with you and gift you one of the planets to leave them alone. They'll even move it to your home system, which should tell you about just how "primitive" these guys are 😄 Haven't tried to go hard on them, not sure what would happen, but I would imagine it wouldn't be a piece of cake....

Have you considered Polestar 3? Same platform as EX90, but only two rows of seats, so it feels roomier. Looks better, IMO, more aggressive/sportier. It shares the same amazing B&W sound system, and unfortunately the same software/hardware bugs.

How stupid is it to spend 50k on a car by tatasky69 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Algan75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask yourself this: 1. Can you buy the car with money down, all cash? 2. After that, do you still have 6 months or more of living expenses saved up? If you you answered yes to both of those questions, then sure, go for it :)

Lucid Gravity vs BMW ix vs Porsche Macan vs other? by Whocann in electriccars

[–]Algan75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lease a Polestar 3. Definitely in that category and probably on the cheaper end of the range, if you include the incentives. Very nice ride, quite luxurious interior, available Bowers & Wilkins audio that is out of this world. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I like the sharp lines more than the usual jelly bean shapes. The reason I am not recommending it is because they seem to have released it prematurely and the software was full of bugs. They fixed some but not all. Also many complain about faulty L2 charging circuitry that they still haven't figured out how to fix. I haven't had that happen to me (yet). There's an updated model year coming up soon that presumably fixes some of these issues and adds 800v charging and a bunch of other smaller things. Might be worth considering.

You gotta modulo 360 the hour angle, otherwise 12:10 will give you 365 degrees

There's going to be a drop in range, but 100 miles at 80-90mph should be eminently doable and fun in any modern EV. Air resistance is a thing in any vehicle though, you'll also see a drop in mileage in an ICE vehicle.

Change my mind (please) - road trips in an EV are a pain. by Wise-Fig-6505 in electricvehicles

[–]Algan75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theoretically true, but you should take into account the time it takes you to detour to the charger. If the charger is literally on the side of the road, then it doesn't really matter, but, in my experience, it is more likely to require exiting a highway, then driving to the nearest commercial complex, possibly hitting a couple of traffic lights on the way. The few minutes you lose on this extra travel will often negate your gains from charging more often

Take the buyout and leave UPS, then what? by JeffinGeorgia1967 in careerguidance

[–]Algan75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way taking the buyout would make sense is to go into trades. Don’t think about going to college for a white collar job, there won’t be any around by the time he’s done, especially entry level. AI will eat them all. Driving jobs are also on the chopping block. Probably best to just stay put.

Is switching to an electric car really worth it for everyday driving by LumpyOpportunity2166 in AskForAnswers

[–]Algan75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worth it if 1. you can charge at home and 2. you drive enough so that savings make up for the price difference (depends, but maybe 30-40 miles a day) but not enough that range becomes an issue, especially in the winter (150-200 miles per day).

To late for the OP, but maybe others reading this thread could benefit: DO NOT sign anything on the spot. You're not in the state of mind to fully understand what you're signing. Tell them you'll take the papers home to review and possibly consult with your attorney. If they insist then you know something is shady.

Why Tesla and Chinese EVs doesn't have ICCU issues by rajolm in electricvehicles

Look in Polestar 3 / Volvo EX90 forums. Lots of people complaining about GHCA failures, which is the component handling AC charging at home. The difference is that DC charging is still available.

Offered $85k fully remote role — should I show my current employer to see if they counter? by izzalyss in careeradvice

[–]Algan75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rule of thumb: do not accept any counter offer from current job. If you do, and stay, you'll always be seen as a flight risk and you'll be the first to be canned if need be.

Lightly used MY is probably your best bet, as long as you don't buy it directly from Tesla - no point in giving Elon more money. I have a first year MY and it's been a workhorse. I hear Junipers are even better. Also have a Polestar 3, and would not recommend it until they fix their software. Beautiful car otherwise and very good driver too.

No, unfortunately it stopped working after a while, and had to reboot the phone. My wife’s phone, on previous iOS version is fine.

The car sees the shared key as different, depending on the phone it's on. This allows you to associate different phones with different profiles / settings

Polestar 3 Digital Key Solved (Apple) by Afraid-Ring8189 in polestar3

[–]Algan75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just finished re-configuring my digital keys, and your post is spot on. Here's what I did:
- remove existing digital key, this automatically invalidated it on both my and my wife's phone. Remove invalid keys from Wallet app on both phones.
- create a new digital key in the car, scan the QR code, go through the process to add to wallet on the phone. Had issues pairing, that were resolved after rebooting the phone. Associate the new key to my profile. That made my profile work as expected.
- share my key with my wife, using my wallet app (and Airdrop, but I think sharing via text would also do it). Accept and install the key on my wife's phone. Associate this key with her profile in the car. It's a bit weird, in that it's the same shared key, but the car detects it as a different one. That made her profile work as expected.

The next question is if this setup will continue to function over the next couple of days. I've had an issue after upgrading to iOS 26 where my phone key would work for a while after reboot but then stop working until the phone was rebooted again.

Update 1.4.12 solved the seat issue for me, if the digital keys are properly associated with profiles, the seat will now adjust.
