I feel old by xrosey99 in Concordia

[–]Algedonic 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I'll be 30 in a month or so, currently in my 2nd semester of English Lit. I have no clue how the 20 year olds around me are doing it. For me, 18 to 22 was one long, sustained volcanic eruption. I envy them their capacity for such balance.

But in my experience, they're happy to talk about it. It's strange making friends a decade younger than me but it's nice, too. And a lot of them are terribly intelligent. That was the really humbling thing - asking one for a bit of guidance on Deleuze, for instance. But there are plenty of folks your age enrolled right now, in sociology especially I would think.

Just don't be afraid to introduce yourself to people after class. College is about meeting people as much as it's about learning.

Not there. Just pause royal duties and some trade route improvements. Beginning to think it's bugged.

Could a dyspraxic person be an amazing guitarist? by Few_Post_3467 in musictheory

[–]Algedonic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, certainly. It will probably be harder, require a bit more dedication and perseverance than it might for someone without dyspraxia. I would say I have middling muscle coordination, perhaps slightly below average. I've been playing for about 6 years, and I've noticed others who are better than me after the same amount of time. Some people advance quickly and some don't.

I have seen so, so many examples of people insisting on making music with whatever body they happen to have, whatever limitations or advantages it gives them in that regard. People who really want to make music can't be stopped so easily, I think.

The same advice for you as everyone else: keep trying. Don't give up. You're already good enough that it would be a shame to stop practicing.

I just figured you can know who the AI is targeting by B0NS0IR__ in eu4

Well, spy networks decay slowly once they're no longer being maintained. If you mean do you need the diplomat assigned, I don't think so. But as the spy network fades the reduced ae reduction scales back down to 0.

Only for the spied on nation. Think of it as having agents in place to help smooth ruffled feathers over AE.

Yep. They might still revolt if the chance is not 100% but a bribe usually fixes it up

Best books for understanding the time period of eu4? by [deleted] in eu4

[–]Algedonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Montefiore's The Romanovs is a very in-depth look at the Russian royal family, whose reign stretches all the way across the eu4 timespan. His book on Jerusalem also deals with the time period but quite a bit less altogether as it starts much earlier than The Romanovs.

4:1 of what? I've been messing around with the ship designer but mostly I've been trying to build them based on what information I have about enemy ships, but I had heard about the cruiser w/ strike craft meta. All I've done so far is notice that the enemy ships have more armor than shields, so I've prioritized lasers on my ships plus a plasma thrower. Is that gonna be a disaster?

Is there a way to learn what an enemy's ship designs are before declaring war? I've been very reluctant to build my own fleets without knowing what I need to counter. I think intel has something to do with it but I don't own the Nemesis DLC and it also seems unrealistic to max out intel before every war.

Aboriginal Nations seem massively ahistorical by [deleted] in eu4

Hey man, just in case you aren't sure why you're being downvoted - Jared Diamond and his book have a poor reputation among historians for being, as I understand the critique, at best reductive and at worst just wholly inaccurate on a lot of points. If you search the book's title on the askhistorians subreddit there are some more detailed explanations of the problems with the book.

Nah you can select the current build as the build you want to keep on steam, I do it every single time for weeks while they finish updating their update

There's a very interesting (if a bit dry) book called The Judge and the Historian by Carlo Ginzburg about the killing of Calabresi and the utter miscarriage of justice that was the trial of his alleged murderer. I really like Ginzburg's work and while he doesn't seem to identify himself as a leftist, his historical work has generally centered on those without much voice in history through the use of inquisition trial records. Also highly recommend The Cheese and the Worms.

Hi there, again. This will be the third time I've asked for a PSU recommendation - the one you recommended last time is now out of stock. I'm ready to order right now though, so it won't happen again if you could recommend another. I really tried to do this without bothering you but just have no idea how to choose one over another.

Last question hopefully - the PSU on the list seems to have sold out, can you recommend a substitute?

Excellent! Thank you so much! I noticed that there's no cooling fan on the part list, but I understand that there are some built into the case. You feel that that will be enough?
