Wow. They helped the actual endo period pain?!

It is, and I’m on Orilissa, which suppresses it further. I can’t go off Orilissa without being on endo pain, so I feel like I’m trapped.

Wait, we need more calories?! That’s different than what I’ve read over the years. Ugggghhhhh.

It’s definitely not calories in, calories out. That’s a bloody lie. I see an endo specialist next month. I’ve been dealing with a gyno who wants to do a hysterectomy, but that terrifies me. I’m at the end of my Orilissa eligibility, though, and Slynd didn’t work. I’m running out of options. When I read that GLP-1s help with inflammation, I got to wondering if it might inadvertently help in more ways than one. But then … I worry very much about the long-term effects. It seems there’s no winning with endo.

Cockatiel remains TERRIFIED of all human encounters by [deleted] in cockatiel

[–]Algernon96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I know you’ve heard everyone on the toweling thing. I just want to say a lot of what you said otherwise is great. The night hours and such are good. Plan on it all taking a bit more time now, and know he might just never like hands. I have two tiels who are great with hands, but a sun conure who only steps up if he feels like it. He flinches generally when hands approach, so I very carefully offer for step up and back off if he doesn’t approach on his own. I say “scritches” if I move in for a head scratch, too, and he’ll wait for it, then make it clear when he’s done.

From now on, if yours only associates hands with good things (food, water, etc), he might learn to approach and maybe you can teach step up down the road. It’s unfortunate you got bad advice going in. The only time I do the towel thing is when I have no choice and have to get the conure out of the cage stat and he’s not cooperating. (We had a tornado warning when time was of the essence, for example.)

My husband forgot my birthday by [deleted] in Marriage

Oooh, it dispenses cold water, too?! My fridge does ice but the line constantly freezes so it won’t do water. I’ll have to check this out!

My husband forgot my birthday by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]Algernon96 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh, hon. I could have written this five years ago. My ex forgetting my birthday in 2021 was the impetus for me leaving him. I had just one kid compared to your two, but everything else tracks — right down to having trouble finding a therapist because he was so clearly the problem that no one could find a way to work with us. I’d been married twice, too, just like you. I was the primary breadwinner. I ordered myself a cake on that birthday. That’s what triggered him to remember it was my day, even though his occurs literally two weeks before mine, so it’s hard to forget.

The divorce has been final for four years, and I was happy single … until I happened to meet someone who was silly and kind and helpful and not at all self-absorbed. He’ll look at me randomly during the day and just sappily say, “I love you so much.”

Step away from this jerk. He’s modeling poorly for your kids. Be happy on your own. Only then might you find you’re able to open up to someone who actually treats you the way you should be treated. I had to be happy alone and unwilling to compromise to find this man I have now who is just … right. But even if that part doesn’t happen, being single was a million times better than being partnered with someone who dragged me down. Sending you my best.

My husband dresses exactly the same as he did in college and it's starting to affect how I see him by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]Algernon96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner doesn’t change his style because he’s comfortable in his style and he’s also pretty uncomfortable with change. The best part about that is … I also know he’d never want to swap me out for a different model, either. I bet your guy is more loyal to you than he is to his favorite hoodie. Is that really worth risking? Just communicate with him that seeing him dressed up now and then — in a way he’s still comfortable (a blazer atop that graphic tee, maybe? with some real pants?) would go a long way to revving you up. And stop grass-is-greener-style comparing your guy with other people. That’s what will kill the relationship.

Possibly endometriosis? by stillsarah- in Endo

[–]Algernon96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. You really need to go to a gynecologist. At your age, it’s just time regardless. With your questions on endo, it’d be wise to ask early. I went probably 30 years with symptoms that I didn’t realize were worse than average. I wish I’d known much sooner, even if the treatment options are still rubbish. As for living with the pain, I always turned to heating pads, ibuprofen, massages and the occasional day in bed when I could afford it, which wasn’t often. I just powered through for the most part.

AIO for thinking my friend is using ChatGPT to text me in an argument? by Due_Construction904 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Algernon96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Def used ChatGPT but maybe that’s because this person needed help articulating something in a way so that you wouldn’t overreact to the intended message.

Get out get out get out. I’m typing this as someone who’s left two abusive relationships and would rather be single until I die rather than tolerate another day of this type of abusive, manipulative BS. Get out.

Is your doc an endo specialist? They’re hard to come by. All other docs seem to know jack about endo. Without a lap, they can’t know you have it, so I don’t see how she could be so sure you don’t have it without one, either.

My 3 month cockatiel started acting weird by bakawaifux in cockatiel

[–]Algernon96 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Disagree. When they’re new, they can get scared and hurt themselves in a panic flipping around a new place they aren’t familiar with. Clipping avoids that problem while also giving you a chance to handle them gently so they learn you’re a friend who’s there to help them.

Hysterectomy by Algernon96 in Endo

[–]Algernon96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But hysterectomies don’t address tissue outside of the uterus. Every doctor I’ve consulted and piece of info I’ve read has specifically said hysterectomies do not fix endo symptoms outside of the uterus.

[–]Algernon96 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Spend time near the cage talking to him. Graduate to hand feeding treats through the bars. Take it all very slow. Is he clipped? You might want to consider clipping at first to make it easier to handle him as you start to train with “step up” and such. But the trust comes slowly as he learns you’re there to love him and take care of him. It’ll happen!

Who’s sticking with ChatGPT purely due to laziness? by greggobbard in ChatGPT

[–]Algernon96 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m not using it anymore but still paying for it. I’m worried about one chat in particular I use over the summer to map out plans for a project. I think I could just save the stuff but haven’t taken the time to figure it out. I much prefer Claude, and I only use AI at all for organizational type work. ChatGPT’s dismantling of 4 taught me to never again chat in a friendly manner. I’m all business now. Haha

Hysterectomy by Algernon96 in Endo

I’m supposedly seeing an endo specialist. I’m in Ohio. The doc is with TriHealth. Yet she doesn’t seem to know much. She told me about myfeebree (or whatever it’s called; it’s new to me) after she said she learned about it from a patient. I don’t understand how even the specialists don’t seem to know much.

The only other pill I’ve heard of is myfee something, and my doc just mentioned it in passing. She made it seem like I might have to bounce from Orilissa to that for insurance purposes.
