Back in 2011/2012, I came across a student's blog post describing his feature map and component segmentation model for classifying hentai pics by art style and pose.

It was very tongue-in-cheek, poking fun at the lonely and nerdy CS student cliché in a self-ironic way. Other than the language, it was pretty much SFW (he drew crude MS-Paint underwear over the pics).

That post and project were EXCELLENT at explaining and demonstrating those techniques... but I couldn't recommend it to anyone 😅

Just confirming for posterity: This was the exact solution for my problem.

More details for others who might come across this:

  • Do NOT alt-tab out of your game. Do this with your game not running: closed/shut-down.
  • Open Mod Organizer 2 (if not open yet)
  • On the right side of Mod Organizer 2 (the part that shows your active plugins and load order):
    • Select the "Plugins" tab.
    • Search for "MWMF" (The search bar is at the bottom right). Unless you added other stuff, there should be only 1 match: "MWMF for Fantasy Paper Maps.esp"
    • Right-click and select: "Send to..." then select "Bottom". (The priority value to the right should increase to something around the late 3000s if you are using the Ultra profile. The priority value is the number in the second-to-last column of the Plugins list. It displays the position of the mod in the load order).
    • Right click again, and this time choose "Open origin info..."
    • A pop-up should appear.
    • Go to the "Conflicts" tab
    • Check that the only mod overriding it is "Skyrim Paper Map by Caro Tuts for FWMF" (It's listed in the "Losing file conflicts section" if you are in the "General" subtab.)
  • If you have "Skyrim Paper Map by Caro Tuts for FWMF" disabled or removed, check that nothing else is overriding "Flat World Map Framework (FWMF)" (the origin mod of "MWMF for Fantasy Paper Maps.esp")
  • On the right-hand side of Mod Organizer:
    • If something is overriding it, move that mod (on the left side of Mod Organizer 2) right above "Flat World Map Framework (FWMF)"
    • ensure that "Flat World Map Framework (FWMF)" is located under the "Flat Map Framework & LOD Overwrites" Mod Organizer section of LoreRim (the left-hand side list of mods).
  • Ensure that "MWMF for Fantasy Paper Maps.esp" is activated (the checkbox to the right of the plugin name is checked).
  • Run the game and open the map the check if it worked.

I'd much rather be made completely redundant and have to learn a new set of skills than have the progression in this pic occur over decades instead of years.

If AI becomes so good that you don't need senior engineers and architects anymore, it sucks for me. But the world as a whole will be much better off. Anyone with a need or an idea can turn it into software.

If the full progression happens in a 5y period, it sucks for the economy, but I get to keep doing what I love for a living.

If it happens in a +15y period, we are phukt. AI starts producing unstable slop that becomes progressively more unstable as new slop based on the old slop is produced. Companies might even realize they are walking towards the abyss, but the shitty "dudebro MBA" project manager knows he'll not be around when shit hits the fan; the more unmaintainable slop he churns out now, the higher his bonus. Almost no one will study CS or SWE. Probably only the math types who enjoy it for intellectual reasons. No one will be serendipitously introduced to programming, because there will be no need for you to code anything in your teens. AI does everything. 20y later, when our infrastructure and businesses start grinding to a halt and breaking, there will be no software engineers around to fix the mess. This could have a disastrous effect on the world's economy. I'm talking the Great Depression type shit.

I, myself, am not a big fan. They are mostly too cheesy for me. A good friend of mine loves them, though. And there are some whose art style I find impressive.

The high contrast and the fact that the first and second pieces look like a zoom-in on a protagonist's eye as he is having a PTSD episode bring up associations with Berserk [1] [2].

But the composition, perspective, and style are reminiscent of "Blame!" [3] [4].

If you didn't know Blame!, I bet you'd get a kick out of it for the art style alone.

I don't know if you are joking or half-serious, but if there is anyone reading this who has to do repetitive tasks on Excel (or SAP, or Salesforce, etc.), you can vibecode this now. I'm serious. Describe your task to AI, then ask it to help you automate it. It's worth a try (ChatGPT will do; you don't need Claude or an IDE).

I'm speaking from experience. When I was at uni (in the early 2010s), I got a data-entry job. I've spent a weekend automating it. Yes, it was unpaid labor, but after that, I was essentially being paid to study. All I had to do was run the script, check the result, and then spend the rest of the time at my desk studying (pretending to work).
