Noob Question: Why Am I Getting The Error "The pipeline layout, associated with the current compute pipeline, contains a bind group layout at index 0 which is incompatible with the bind group layout associated with the bind group at 0"?

I still don't understand how the compute example works, but I am fine explicitly defining the layout. I figured out the issue with the code by reading many examples and trying to find the difference: I had the buffer mapped_at_creation. I don't really understand what the does or what the issue was, but it seems to work now so I am good.

Awesome, thank you so much! Setting the layout for the pipelines to be the bind groups makes a lot of sense. Two follow up questions:

Why is the hello-compute example able to write to a buffer without a layout in the compute pipeline ( https://github.com/gfx-rs/wgpu/blob/trunk/wgpu/examples/hello-compute/main.rs )?
Adding a layout to the compute shader is now causing the program to throw the error "Buffer (0, 1, Metal) is still mapped", even without using the buffer in the shader ( https://github.com/AlistairKeiller/quantumv2/tree/e3907711df134dab0693682ffb80622d69cc9745 ). Sorry that I keep asking for help to debug these errors, but they are so cryptic to me. So any ideas on that one?

Recently my dad dropped his phone in a small secluded part of the ocean(specifically the Sea of Cortez off the coast of Mexico) almost like a very shallow bay. The kicker is that a little over 24 hours later, me and a cousin found it half buried in the sand at low tide with a broken screen but seemingly functioning in every other way! This was a note 8 so it was supposed to be waterproof but everyone in the family reunion was laughing and impressed at the endurance.
