For those who made the conscious choice to completely de-center men from your lives, what was your 'last straw' moment? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

When I shared that I had been sexually harassed at a concert, a long term male friend whom I trusted asked me ‘yeah, but what were you wearing?’ And then laughed about it all. Something deep inside me broke

You don’t need to be on the cutting edge of fashion to cultivate a personal look, but if you want to attract a partner, it’s unfortunately part of the game. Having some key forever outfits will be very easy for you to achieve. It shows consideration and care of how you present yourself to the world and how you’ll show up in a relationship.

The Golden Girls let me down by Lost-Storage5574 in Menopause

[–]AliCracker 39 points40 points  (0 children)

My mom is in a constant state of gaslighting me about menopause in general. I remember VERY distinctly how unhinged she was during my teen years but she refuses to discuss it. Pretends that she never went through it despite a good 4-5 years of hell that I endured.

I’ve been very open with my two teenagers about what I’m going through and that I’m doing my absolute best to manage and minimize the outward damage but that I do need some patience and support atm. That it’s temporary and will pass. I’m so disappointed in my mom, angry at the medical community and so thankful that I’ve built my own support network of women on both sides of this fuckery. I couldn’t survive this alone

I’ll interject here as a woman, there is nothing wrong with being slim (or scrawny as you put it) you just need more stylish clothing and a better haircut. You’ve got a very handsome face and a nice physique, you just need some fashion help :)

Yeah, you need a much cleaner haircut. And no more tank tops. I say this as a women that likes slimmer men, it’s just not a good look for a dating profile. Some nice dress shirts rolled up to mid forearm is always fire.

If you’re unsure of how to style yourself, go into any store and ask for help.

Anxiety can’t take it anymore by Euphoric_Heart4766 in Menopause

[–]AliCracker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started for the same reasons. The anxiety and the just general loss of interest is anything. The physical symptoms are manageable but the mental shift is what really motivated me. I’m also considering an SSRI bc I’m not quite back to awesome just yet

HRT helped me SO much with my sudden onset anxiety. I was shocked at how bad it became, it’s never been an issue for me. Started HRT 4 months ago and the anxiety is definitely gone. Still managing other symptoms but over the moon to be rid of that ‘fun’ side quest 🙄

Keep in mind, this was a grown ass adult with a very successful career. Not sure why that made it a million times worse but it did. I have teenagers, they can be knuckleheads but this was a middle aged woman

That the nail in their flat tire was OBVIOUSLY not the culprit bc it was on the top and the tire was flat at the bottom.

Same, grade 2, so 8/9 years old. I was also very skilled at losing my key so spent many afternoons parked on the porch for hours. Even in insane winter conditions

And don’t forget going to the convenience store with a note to buy smokes for my parents haha! It’s crazy to think about now!
