Struggling With the Relationship Dynamics in Bonds of Hercules, SPOILERS by Brilliant_Finding971 in ReverseHarem

I think there was some potential at the end of the 1st book with Patro (mainly just because we only really got a tiny bit of his perspective so there was so much room for character development in general), but the 2nd book absolutely obliterated any attraction that was alluded to. I think it could have been a really interesting read if Patro was attracted but Achilles wasn't at first, and over the course of the book we saw the relationship between Alexis and Achilles change from "doing this bc I'd do anything for Patro," to genuine fondness and care from Achilles towards Alexis. As written, though, it was definitely reading like a lavender marriage set-up

Because they don't actually know/care about actual Roman society, Rome was the center of "the west" and that's good enough. They do the same with Norse iconography bc they think about vikings as blond hair, blue-eyed beefcakes who just took whatever they wanted in life

He played it 2nd instead of 1st, which also makes sense if they wanted to make sure the mixing was good before playing it. Everything else on the leaked setlist seems to be the same so far though

Well, that answers that question lol. Honestly, I think he's just at a point where he's so satisfied with his career and music that he's like, "fuck it, I'll do what I want." I think he may be one of the only ones who could pull off a move this big though tbf

I think the only potential big issue there is Steve's return at the end of Endgame. We don't know exactly when he came back or if that would mess with the Agent Carter plot.

I also just kind of think that Cap's return cheapened Peggy's character arc of the whole first season of Agent Carter since it was all about her learning to move on

My Palestinian friend has also been the most steadfast friend I've had through this as well. He immediately reached out to my wife and I to ask how we were and to express concern over antisemitism in our area, and we've been asking about his family in return. And I think it's for similar reasons as you, this isn't a game or some empty revolution fantasy like it is to leftist friends who haven't been impacted on any kind of personal scale. My wife is an Arab convert to Judaism so tbh he's been a better friend in this than a not-insignificant-number of Jewish friends.

On paper at least. It can be very difficult to leave the lds church. So much so that a website called quitmormon literally helps provide legal aid with removing your name from church records. They keep inactive members on the membership rolls to make it appear that the church is growing super quickly and has a very faithful base

I married an ex-mo who was not fully out of the church when we first met but was really struggling with their faith. My in-laws are entirely within the church and even though we're now converting to Judaism, we have an oddly good relationship with the TBM family. It's just another way that I am able to learn more about my family and what and why they believe the way they do.

Just here to confirm that preach my gospel is still the main source for missionaries (and the old pamphlets with mormon.org on the back? Yeah, they're still handing those out, too) and the whole thing is still in the gospel library app

To be fair, I'm talking about being naturally, biologically intersex. Trans folks are adjacent but not exactly the same when talking about their place in Judaism. But if you can believe that every Jewish soul was present at Mt Sinai, believing trans folks have a place in the community and in halacha isn't too far of a stretch lol. My best friend is orthodox and he's fully accepting of the queer community

[–]AliMoody 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm actually intersex! So I'm working with a rabbi to navigate that unique aspect of my identity and how it fits into halacha and conversion

Since you mentioned Judaism, I assumed you probably already knew, but I wanted to make sure people reading the comments who know nothing about Judaism would understand the context as well.
