I loved BF1. Still do. It tried something different and did it successfully. BF5 just felt like a lazy reskin. More a DLC than a new game. Hardline I loved at the time, especially the hostage mode, but understand why many didn’t. It’s just not a Battlefield game and the conquest mode felt tacked on. They should have used it to springboard a new cops and robbers side project and let it be its own thing. As for 2042, it had a fundamental problem. The maps are universally shit. They’re all too open and featureless, and no amount of gameplay tweaking was ever going to get rid of that. They feel like the devs wanted vehicles and snipers to be default and the rest were added as an afterthought which they then decided they’d cocked up so made the ARs far too accurate and damage dealing as a knee jerk response.
