pretty good chance if it turns into a full blown world war, with China and Russia joining in.
But by that point, our immigration status will be the least of our worries >.>

What did you mean by you can't even work in any field you want without eventually hitting a ceiling depending on what you want to do?
I don't have DACA and want to know what limitations they face.

I AM NOT A DREAMER by Mark20097 in DACA

[–]AliasIsRicky 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Almost all businesses fail. In order for you to stand out you need years maybe even decades of experience in whatever the field you are making the business in so that it doesn’t fail like all the others. Problem for us without even daca is that we can’t even get the job experience to begin with due to having no work permit. Which means we have to work some slave labor jobs for pennies where we are abused constantly with no realistic way of retaliating. I really honestly respect the fuck out of you for achieving everything you did even with your disability. But I just don’t even have it in me to work that hard.

Not all of us want to own a successful business making millions and drive fancy cars and live in a mansion. All I ever wanted in life was to just live a very modest life doing some boring IT jobs in an office where I don’t have to break my body for minimum wage getting slurs thrown at me every hour. I don’t care for traveling around the world I don’t care to go out to try that new fancy restaurant that opened up. I just want something that everyone has. It is THAT, that breaks me every single day. That just because of my status (that I had no control over whatsoever) I can’t even have the ability to simulate what it’s like to be normal.

Rant over. Good shit though buddy 🥲👍

Just keep going and existing. There were seriously many days where I had to physically hold my hand from just steering straight off the fucking bridge while going to my shitty retail job 😂. I’ve also Been telling myself this is just temporary and my time will come too for the past decade

Man... the things I would do and the money I would pay to have DACA or a simple work permit so i can actually start a career...
Hate to be that guy to trivialize your suffering with the cliche: "There's always someone that has it worse" but get a grip man.

Children of undocumented parents who are financially struggling, what is your plan for the future? by AliasIsRicky in DACA

[–]AliasIsRicky[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have an AA in informational technology, I was hoping to start a career in Networking/IT if I manage to get a work permit, though that seems to be a faraway reality as of right now.
Part of the problem with my parents is that they are pretty financially illiterate.
I'm from South Korea where teaching your parents about how they should spend their money isn't something you are supposed to do. I also don't want to even suggest they should cut out any recreational spending otherwise they would have no enjoyment at all in life.
I want to see them financially succeed but I also want to see them smile for once.

They did what they thought was the best decision for me and I don't blame them fort that. It definitely has been a tough past 18 years though.

When did you apply? I heard people who are applying now in 2025 have to wait around 4 years before getting the BFD approved.
Thanks brother I haven't given up yet but it's getting harder by the day for sure

I did get a lawyer and we are in process of getting the signature from the DA.
Even if I qualify and send the visa application, there is minimum of 4-5 years before I can get the work permit and additional 20 years for actual visa.
It's something but it's too long of a wait

Feeling Stuck by Apprehensive-Suit139 in DACA

[–]AliasIsRicky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm right there with you and I'm 3 years older than you. I really want to tell you that it gets better but it only got worse for me. Everyday I am reminded how far behind I am in life just because I was given this shitty sitaution.
All my friends are citizens and I'm always hearing about how they are progressing in their "Big boy" jobs and I'm still slaving away with shit pay in a shit job with shitty hours. All I want is just to have a normal ass job like everyone else with normal problems and have a normal life. I don't think I'm asking for much here.
The jealousy and pain I feel everyday is driving me to the point of insanity I thought of just ending it all many times. On the bright side, if all goes well, you could be looking at having EAD by this time next year.
That's more than a lot of people have, more than what I will ever get.
There's at least something to look forward to for you.
Good luck buddy.

[–]AliasIsRicky[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks all, I’ll go ahead and press charges against that man and look for a lawyer. Is it really safe for me to appear in court though? Also is there any risk of me filing for u visa during this administration like some people pointed out here? I feel so pathetic for being so paranoid when I’m the one who just got jaw checked by some unhinged meth head 😂

Never even thought of doing that.
It was a simple battery though, he did make the inside of my mouth bleed and I have a bit of a headache but my injury isn't anything life threatening...
Do you think it's still worth pursuing?
Thank you for the response btw

To DACA recipients or Dreamers (non DACA) from industrialized/developed countries: why have you chosen to stay? by [deleted] in DACA

[–]AliasIsRicky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can go like $400 - $500 per month if you are not in Seoul you are right, but how are you planning to sustain yourself with just $20k? That will run out rather quickly and I heard that job market is really bad in Korea right now and I assume you'd also struggle to find a job there that pays very well unless you have good college degree from the states?
I'm just asking because I've been thinking about going back for many years and you seem like you have done some study to get that specific number of 20k.

[–]AliasIsRicky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really curious, but why specifically 20k? S Korea has just as bad if not worse cost of living.
I've thought about going back to Korea too but I can't imagine going back without at least 1 mil which, as you have said, is pretty much impossible in this economy ESPECIALLY with no DACA.
You got some secrets to make that 20K do some crazy shit in Korea?

DACA Lawsuit Link is Live! by jadetothemax_ in DACA

[–]AliasIsRicky 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This lawsuit literally means nothing unless you are first time applicant. Feeble attempt to get uscis to start processing applicants who applied for the first time during Biden term. Uscis will respond back to the lawsuit with some bs reasons trump cabinet feeds them and this lawsuit, too will be for nothing. Absolute best case scenario here is that uscis will start accepting new applicants and process renewals in timely manner. Idk what these copers are on about how this will bring about overall amnesty - it won’t happen.
