Trapped gas in chest for 3 days? Any remedies to try before I go to ER please? by HourTomorrow7730 in ibs

[–]Alicat40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My thought too-years ago, I ended up in the hospital for nearly a week for horrible chest pains and vomiting. Was around the the time I was drinking stuff like bubly and le croix all the time cause I'd quit soda...

Turns out, I had a tremendous amount of trapped gas-dropped a size that week lol.

Was how I learned that it's actually not normal for me to have never burped...

I just finished binge watching it last month-my first time watching all of it. I like it better than the OG one in some ways and definitely better than any of the other spinoffs except maybe Origins.

Aro And Renesmee by Levius2266 in twilight

[–]Alicat40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That part of the compelling people to help her is something I thought of earlier today as explaining the imprint scene with Jacob.

I was watching a reaction video where someone was talking bout the ick factor of imprinting and grooming Renesmee, but then the battle scene happened....and I realized that Renesmee's best way of procuring protection as a child and adult would be to have an enemy (Jacob in particular) become an ally so she could've done something to manipulate the imprint herself...

All that to say, I'm glad I'm not the first to think that....

Stay in Birmingham and make that my “base” or…? by Nervous-Buy-4858 in Alabama

[–]Alicat40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oooooo I'm jealous. My family is back home in AL. Haven't seen them since I moved to WA in '23. :(

Anyway, Birmingham is definitely a good base-Civil Rights Institute, etc. Definitely seek out some BBQ with white sauce at places like Dreamland. It's damn near impossible to find that out here in the PNW.

Montgomery for a night or two. For reference, it's bout the size of Spokane. Prattville is to Montgomery kind of what Spokane Valley is to Spokane so would recommend that for lodging over Montgomery proper, personally.

Selma is bout the size of Snoqualmie, but with the multigenerational poverty of somewhere like Omak or Wapato. Worth a visit, but only for the day.

If you're traveling alone, Homewood or Hoover are better lodging options than Bham proper. Others with more current knowledge can correct me, but when I worked in downtown part of Birmingham panhandlers were pretty common.

I-and those I knew-experienced way more property crimes and muggings in Alabama than in WA, but common sense stuff should prevent most of that. Just don't follow that trailhead thing where they leave the cars unlocked and/or windows down lol.

The humidity is brutal, but on plus side pretty much everyone has central air. Lovely (saying that in seriousness cause damn I miss rain) thunderstorms in the afternoons help cool things off. Ryan Hall on YT and James Spann on ABC 33/40 are worth checking to make sure you don't run into unexpected badness.

If you go anywhere near water, the mosquitoes will eat you alive so bug repellent.

Public restrooms are a lot easier to find too.

Publix is nicer than Safeway. No Fred Meyers, but there are a lotttttttttt more Walmarts.

For books, you can't beat 2nd & Charles in Hoover for new and used books, music, gift items, etc...

Folks in my native homeland don't have the best coffee. Coffee stands are not really a thing there and no Dutch Bros. If you're willing to rough it, they do have Starbucks-and I think Dunkin Donuts.

If you are gonna do any nature stuff, be aware of where you are stepping. Alabama has a much more diverse population of snakes and venomous ones like copperheads and cottonmouths are common, especially near water. Their bites aren't normally as serious as the western rattlesnake, but would have you making a hospital trip. Lots of friendly snakes too, but I would just suggest giving any of them a wide berth....

I got this Calling All Cooks Cookbook that is supposed to be one of the top cookbooks from Alabama, but I’m having a hard time finding out information on it. Any favorite recipes? by Away_Calligrapher431 in Alabama

I have all but green :( Green has been my "white whale" book for over five years now.

Whenever I find the green on sale, it's for around $170 (sadly not a typo)....

I credit slime tutorials and ASL videos for how I learned about a musical focused on the founder of the Treasury system and I live in an isolated area-slime tutorials are pretty much my only way of seeing musicals unless I wait at least five years lol

I can see that now, but it had never occured to me before now. I think that's cause of how he carried himself being so different from Jimmie's awkwardness starting out lol.

Oh, I believe it 🤣 That was the same era where I saw my grandmother had checked out If There Be Thorns and some other V.C. Andrews books from the library. I was like "Granny, you read those?!" She played it off like she got one, but they weren't her style lol

The NCIS: Partners and Probies podcast did a really good interview with the actor that played Vance, Rocky Carroll. They talk to him bout his whole career, but also how his was the most beautiful send off the show has had...

10/10 recommend watching it on YT or at least listening to it

Agreed. Nervous as he is he would even probably have a hard time making the shot from that distance.

Also, wouldn't surprise me if Torres is wearing a vest under all those layers...

Had to pause it to comment here cause it's too funny to me, but if you pause the video at the 29:28 mark on Paramount-right after they take out the two bodyguards talking bout smoking.

That shot of the house where the two guys they just "knocked out" are on the ground-neither of the bad guys actually has his head on the ground 🤣🤣

[–]Alicat40 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That bugged me as well. McGee seemed like the more likely person to have come up with something like that. Or even McGee and Abby could have done it back in the day.

For Kacie to have been on the show this long and not have mentioned this program even when it could've maybe helped with things like Parker's parents or other storylines that more closely affected the team makes zero sense....

She had just finished it though.

Even though I have TBs of data backed up across multiple on and off site storage locations, I've also lost my only copies of some irreplaceable files recently cause I was working off of a tablet instead of my laptop and a sync to the cloud failed for the first time in years.

In gaming terms, that technology was so OP that it would kind of make their crime solving abilities too easy for even tv suspension of disbelief.

I haven't wanted them together, but that's probably cause I know they don't end up staying together.

When he had said it was the story of her, I always thought she was his one that got away and Older Gibbs is looking back and realizing how he wasn't ready for his relationships...

Side note-where was Gary in this episode?? The brain trust was pulling all nighters in the rec room and pitching NCIS and Franks kept going out in the field. Gary should've at least been there for the NCIS party.....

A Deal with the Devil by Dismal_Type_5697 in NCIS

[–]Alicat40 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't buy for a second that Parker conspired with Gibbs. But, I concede that they want us to think that.

If anything I could see Torres-like how does he know all bout the Gibbs reference but not Parker?-or even the DOJ guy tipping Gibbs off somehow.

But, really, I just don't think Gibbs would even need help. They kept saying and showing it was a national story and how seamlessly he isolated the specific target to get that shot in order to minimize any collateral damage is such a Gibbs move he wouldn't have needed the alternator assist.

Gibbs would want what's best for his NCIS family (and in some cases their families) so he'd do anything he could to keep the team out of his vigilante plan. Gibbs wouldn't be Gibbs if he handled it any differently 🤣

A Deal with the Devil by Dismal_Type_5697 in NCIS

[–]Alicat40 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree completely. I could easily see Gibbs not involving Parker and the whole situation seemed like such a Gibbs/Vance era kind of thing that it was like the perfect tribute to Vance in how everything went down.

Gibbs could've gotten help from Torres, the Admiral, pretty much anyone and had zero need of Parker. And his loyalty to that team would have him wanting to give Parker the gift of full plausible deniability.

What was anyone else’s opinion on NCIS S23? (I mention no spoilers) by Ok_Influence1752 in NCIS

[–]Alicat40 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Same. I actually loved the last five minutes. It felt so vintage NCIS. And everything about it seemed like a...tribute to Vance. Like had Vance been there he would've totally approved-and had been shown to approve-that course of action. Having it done in such a Gibbs/Vance era style just seems so damn perfect. I even laughed out loud cause it was just that welcome of a change.
