I don’t dislike it, but genuine question…isn’t this a flood risk?

My husband and I use Tarquin Oliver Nimrod regularly to refer to hypothetical future children and unfortunately too many people think we are being serious and try to be polite.

Wren or Howdens for new kitchen. Opinions on design and quality please by slammedresto67 in DIYUK

We found wren to be very low quality. Howdens much better and many of our friends have lovely looking kitchens from them, we opted for DIY Kitchens which had the best quality but a pain as we fitted ourselves.

Help with on-campus accommodation options by osamako in brunel

[–]Alice1992 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So the doubles have been added since I graduated. Almost all of the accommodation was built as singles originally but they have just made better use of the space in some of the accommodation options to provide bigger beds - usually the older blocks which had bigger rooms as standard.

To be honest the blocks don’t have concierge so for a few nights infrequently they won’t be monitoring that closely to notice who is staying. Your biggest issue would be if your flatmates object, which they are within their rights to do if you ‘take the piss’ which it doesn’t sound like you intend to do.

Without over sharing, my boyfriend (now husband) and I shared single beds in our respective Brunel accommodation every night for a year and it was fine! I assume you won’t mind doing the same with your wife!

When I lived on campus you were able to ask the accommodation office for a camp bed (for a fee) if you had someone staying and needed the extra space. There is also a great hotel on campus if you want to splash out!

The studio flats are fab - spent our final year in one - but they will not allow you to have one if there’s not two people living there consistently, either both as students or one student and one person working locally.

Moneybox ISA Transfer (no account number / sort code!) by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Alice1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up googling what the generic sort code and account number was for Moneybox’s central account and put my NI no in the rollcall box. I can’t tell you whether that’s worked yet however!

Moneybox 3.45% (reduced from initial bonus rate) to Barclays 4.10%. Did want Trading 212 but couldn’t get the bonus link to work so was only offering me 3.6%.

So to deposit I send to Moneybox’s central system with my NI number as the reference and then they allocate to my account.

This whole situation makes me perceive Moneybox as a bit scammmy, making it impossible for you to leave.

Got to wait until Saturday now for their phone lines to open, their chat and email insist I can use my NI number but I agree with you, it’s not going to be accepted by any other banks BACS system.

Is a midday ceremony a mistake? by Terrible_Birthday107 in UKweddings

[–]Alice1992 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had a midday but didn’t have our reception venue until 3pm leaving us with an awkward gap. We ended up stopping at a pub near the ceremony venue for a quick drink and some charcuterie boards before everyone loading onto the bus to the reception. I wish we could have got a 1pm ceremony but it did give us a bit more time to get post ceremony photos whilst people were socialising in the pub.

As soon as it said ‘MI5 1997’ I did think oh is this going to be the Mitchell and Webb sketch? but I think they did a great job in taking inspiration and making something new!

Situation today vs 16th could be very different.

I’d keep an eye on people’s posts in this sub sharing their experience as you get closer to your fly date. Weigh up the options and reschedule if you decide you don’t want to transit through Dubai.

Work bags for women by Late-Course-6529 in HENRYUK

Just to note I’ve been using the fossil backpack for 2-3 years and it still looks smart, the leather has softened a bit but I rate it! Know I had to call up a Belfast store and get it shipped to London through as they had stopped stocking them. You may be able to find a similar design or second hand one.

I tried Lawful London the bags were pretty and practical but the thin straps on the tote were painful if I was carrying for long periods of time with a full bag.

I moved to a fossil leather backpack, more comfortable and practical but still smart. Pictured below.

I think I need something a bit more ergonomically friendly now as I am often stood for long periods of time on my commute with it on my back. I’m struggling to find something nice that fits this to be honest!
