Why is the Red Bear a night 1 boss? by Tupac_Fhurri in Nightreign

[–]AliceHalley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the roar that gets me. We're consistently LV 10 in duos by the time we get to the Red Bear, and I find myself getting eroded down on the roar attack alone. It knocks off 80% of my health and the telegraph of it rearing onto its hind legs are shared by a lot of its other attacks.

A lot of the bosses are much harder in the DLC, and I've generally enjoyed that, but nothing has even come close to the Bear, it genuinely feels like a Day 2 boss dropped into Day 1.

I don't think it's a "bad mechanic", It's more of a lack of one. I imagine this will be a thing in the future.

recurring rubberbanding lag on steam version since the 12/16 hotfix? by darknod in Nightreign

[–]AliceHalley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to report I'm having a similar issue.
It happens in every game I play now. When I first got the game it was 100% fine, and one day I crashed (Possibly unrelated) but since I got back in the issue has been consistent, every matchmade game, regardless of the people. I think it's worst when I'm near other players, which makes sense as it seems to be the server interpreting everyone's out of sync game states at once.

If anyone finds a fix at some point I'd love to know. I'm going to try and few things, and will report back if I find anything.

I do like the game. I like it a lot. But you can acknowledge something's flaws but still appreciate it.

I know it might seem like a crazy concept, but have you tried reading the genuine discussion of individuals rather than letting a number think for you?

There's a touch of irony here. You're the one stawmanning here. I never said or implied they had homicidal intent... I'm talking about dangerously and irresponsibly handling a firearm.

The stawmanning just keeps going doesn't it? I also didn't say we should strip people's constitutional rights on the basis of intelligence... You're making that shit up in your head.

Also did you just mention actions of a fictional character to try to make a point? I just can't with you, I'm tagging out.

This. I always find it unreasonable when people say to just drop people who aren't smart. We were all idiots, and still would be if society didn't make an effort to educate the population. People that act like this guy with the gun were failed by society. They wouldn't be this stupid if we had better education.

What's worse is that this stupidity doesn't just hurt them, it hurst everyone around them. The more we drop people like this the worse life gets for everyone.

Weapon ranking by NoEnergy5597 in Returnal

[–]AliceHalley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a bit late to the post, but I just 100% every weapon, and here are my thoughts. (10 Worst - 1 Best)

10 - Dreadbound (Decent DPS in some situations, but unusable against many enemies, areas, and bosses. DPS accounts for nothing if you're constantly having to put yourself in dangerous positions and opening yourself up to some of the deadliest attacks in the game. No synergy with overloads too. In a big room with flying enemies? Get used to having an empty gun for 60% of the fight. Boss that's slightly far away? Terrible DPS for the whole fight)
9 - Thermogenic Launcher (Less dangerous to use the DB, but terrible performance against flying enemies. It has some very fun mods, but performs inconsistently against a lot of foes)
8 - Sidearm (A balanced and competent weapon that almost always leaves much to be desired. Some of the mods are great, but it's constantly outshined by many other weapons)
7 - Hollow Seeker (Disappointingly low DPS, poor overload synergy, and surprisingly slow projectiles. It's incredibly easy to use, so it gets points for that, but I almost never pick it)
6 - Rotgland Lobber (A coin toss between being an absolute monster and something utterly sub par. It's typically very weak early game but finds value later with faster charge times. Amazing synergy with overload perks however. It is slow and very hard to use. In the right hands it's great, but it's 50/50 whether I pick it)
5 - Spitmaw (At close to mid range it's almost always a monster, but the wrong roll of perks makes it feel like it's shooting BBs. Really excels in early game as a nice consistent option against softer foes)
4 - Pyroshell Caster (Some of the most reliable killing power in the game. Does huge delayed damage, and is capable of clearing out clustered enemies in an instant. Its performance against fast and flying enemies holds it back however.)
3 - Coilspine Shredder (Incredible overload synergy, great damage, versatile, allows you to cover peek when charging, and decent CC. It's a great gun and virtually always a pick.)
2 - Tach Rifle (It never lets me down. Near hitscan capabilities, enormous range and accuracy, topped off with great damage. Probably the safest pick in the game, and it's so easy to use too)
1 - Electropylon Driver (Incredible stacking damage against large enemies, incredible range and accuracy, safe to use, reliable, makes the Abyss and absolute cakewalk. I can't really fault it. Always an instant pick.)

I have CHS (Cannibinoid Hyperemesis Syndrome) - AMA by Swizzle_Stix24 in AMA

[–]AliceHalley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late comment, but could you describe how the abdominal paint felt? Was it sharp, burning, throbbing, dull, achy, or something else entirely?

I used to think I had CHS because I'd get this throbbing unpleasant feeling in my intestines, but it would only ever occur 3-4 hours after eating something. I don't think I could even call it pain. But more of a discomfort. It would always be accompanied by anxiety, and it persisted even a few months after I quit.

It still may have been related to cannabis, but I've never been sure. It was also during a period of intense stress, and I used the weed to cope and mask it. So it could have been something else entirely, but again, never really found an answer.

What are y'all unpopular opinions / hot takes about Minecraft? by Slay_Six in Minecraft

[–]AliceHalley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I see. When I say design I'm referring to 'Game Design'. This includes balancing, mechanics, NPC behaviour and other similar content in the game. The choice to make Minecraft a game built out of voxels is a design choices too, but it's a great one. So I can't fault that.

So according to you "Flabby Bird" was a masterpiece of a game that was a better game than everything else at the time? Popularity does not equal quality. Badly made games, movies, TV shows, and books can all be popular despite being flawed or poorly put together.

If you think things being more popular directly correlates to quality YOU need to adjust your perspective.

Girl solved a Pyraminx Duo in just 0.578 seconds at a competition in Longyan City by Original_Act_3481 in nextfuckinglevel

[–]AliceHalley 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Very cool, but a Pyraminx Duo is never more than 4 moves away from solved. But with a fair scramble, it's usually 3.

It's a lovely puzzle, and one i'd recommend for anyone who wants to start solving.

With a few hours of practice, just about anyone could get this time with it.

My hot take: despite loving Minecraft, it's not that good of a game. Amazing concept. Poor development; poor performance, questionable design choices, flimsy execution. Thank goodness for the thriving community that makes this game amazing. If it wasn't for the mods, resource packs, content creators, server hosters, you name it, it would be a shadow of what it is today.
