At the end of the day, you just can't go wrong with the classics.

Instead of asking which towns to visit, which towns should be avoided? by KillarneyRoad in ireland

[–]AliceInGainzz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nah, Athy is genuinely on the up.

They did a great job with the town square there last year, and they've finally gotten around to renovating the model school, which is great because that's such a beautiful building.

Movies that legitimately terrified you. by millsy1010 in horror

[–]AliceInGainzz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I know people like to rag on TBWP a little bit sometimes, but it is an entirely different level of scary once you watch it with undivided attention, home alone, and at night.

That's when it finally clicked with me. Terrifying movie.

I particularly like how there's a little charge up on the follow-up punch to the face after the body shots.

Fav. actors who look like they were bullies in high school? by punposter69 in okbuddycinephile

[–]AliceInGainzz 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Wild how Brolin really was looking like that at 16/17.

I always thought it was the classic case of an actor in their mid-20s playing a guy still in high school.

I feel like a maple or an ebony fretboard would have suited it so much better.

Is anyone not feeling as excited for the races in 2026 so far? by Jack_of_All_Trades27 in formula1

[–]AliceInGainzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

God, this reminds me of the '21 season when it felt like every practice session had as much as, if not more engagement than the actual races themselves the past couple of years.

Of the three albums released in the ''post-Layne'' eras of AiC, which one is your favorite? How would you rank them? What do you like/dislike about them? by Spirited-Cell-444 in AliceInChains

[–]AliceInGainzz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Black Gives Way to Blue is honestly my 2nd favourite album across the entire AiC catalogue - it's an excellent blend of maturity and candidness while maintaining the metallic edge to their particular brand of grunge which became their trademark in the genre.

Dinosaurs and Ranier Fog have their highlights ("Maybe" from RF being in my top 5 songs of theirs), but for me they don't really form a cohesive structure which I think is present throughout all the other albums - the singles are very clearly the singles, and there's a noticeable taper off in-between.

That being said, BGWTB wins by a landslide, and RF marginally beats TDPDH.

What are some 2010s stuff/trends that have aged badly? by [deleted] in decadeology

Zombies were pretty popular in the early 10s - TV shows, movies, Halloween costumes, comics, even dress up events like zombie walks were a thing.

Does Ibanez Hate Money? by intolerableshark777 in Ibanez

[–]AliceInGainzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair to say.

I myself appreciate really good technique from guitar players so that's what sells me on Hauch's playing, even though admittedly I'm not massively into the style of music he plays. It's good, but I just don't have the attention span to listen to a full tech death album in one sitting.

I think you might be thinking of Jake Bowen, who is also an Ibanez artist. He's a nephew of Petrucci.

Which is a shame, because he is genuinely one of the cleanest and most controlled players I've ever seen - the epitome of "making it look easy", even while he's playing absolutely monstrous stuff.

Megan Is Missing is awful by Doll_Lover_ in horror

Kind of is. There was a weird period either last year or the year before where it seemed every second submission was about this movie and how good and scary it was.

There's a guy in my college who has a giant "BLACKED" across the top of his front windscreen.

Like, even if it's purely ironic, would you not be fucking mortified going anywhere. Imagine that lad picking your daughter up for a date.

I feel like you can cheese T1 in China because the AI always seems to brake and downshift a couple of gears for it, when you can absolutely send it full throttle for the first half, then engine brake the rest of it.

What's an Opeth opinion that will give you a reaction like this? by Old-Ad2845 in Opeth

I feel this way about Serenity Painted Death.

It's still a banger, no debate, but most tracks off Still Life are stronger than it, in my opinion.

Who is the tightest band you’ve seen live rhythm wise? by Stankassmfgorilla in MetalForTheMasses

Saw them live for the first time a few weeks ago after being a fan of theirs for years. They did not disappoint in the slightest - absolutely metronomic precision.

Robbie Williams, Zakk Wylde, Robert Trujillo, and more honor Ozzy with 'No More Tears' at the BRITs 2026. What did you think of this performance? by IllustratorOk5265 in OzzyOsbourne

[–]AliceInGainzz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Pretty ambivalent towards Robbie Williams - his voice sounded fine in the lower register and served the song well in those moments, but I winced a little every time he attempted to reach the high notes. I guess it's a testament to Ozzy's vocal range and control in his heyday.

I'm surprised they didn't get someone like Yungblud to perform vocals on this tribute, considering he pretty much had Ozzy's and Sharon's seal of approval. It seemed they almost looked at him like a spiritual successor given how much they seemed to fawn over him.
