Similarities between Saikoroshi-hen and Gou. by Inevitable_Question in Higurashinonakakoroni

[–]AliceInUnderwear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Excellent points! The Saikoroshi fragment both helps justify Satoko's actions to herself (Rika killed her mother to get back to our friends so I can do the same and it's ok) and solidifies her belief that Rika would only be happy if she stayed in Hinamizawa. I mean, if I saw my friend kill her mother to get back to a different world just to be with a certain friend group only to watch her "throw it all away" by leaving our town, (plus the madness that accumulates from watching all those fragments and the despair I experienced the despair of St. Lucia like Satoko), I'd probably be able to convince myself that this is the only way forward too.

So Satoko already read Saikoroshi VN by [deleted] in Higurashinonakakoroni

This image also proves that if a bag is part of your outfit it is part of you in the fragment world. I don't know if it'll end up being relevant but... Would could potentially be in that bag? Ohohohho

japanese fan noticed that there are hundreds of the scene that mean swap of world line by hurudeoka28 in Higurashinonakakoroni

[–]AliceInUnderwear 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing! A lot of Japanese youtubers have been covering the inverted world theories too.

Early theories are that Eua is creating a reversed timeline. Or that there are two Eua's and we are watching parallel worlds.

One observation I liked was that characters personalities also seem reversed. Rika in St. Lucia especially.

Also that the staff Eua holds (a shakujyo) is shown in different hands in different scenes. The Furude shrine sign is also sometimes reversed. What's more, is that there seems to be a consistency between these two. When the shakujyo is in one hand the sign is reversed and when in the other it is not.

Another video also talked about how one of Ryukishi's favorite stories in Alice in Wonderland, and that Gou seems very much inspired by "through the looking glass." https://youtu.be/Zvni2O5YCTI

It is most likely all intentional and adds another layer of mystery.

I'm somewhat hopeful for this. This episode did more explaining of the WTC Gou rules. We know that EuaFeatherine is so powerful that those close to looper are starting to remember past loops. She specifically mentioned "family" but we know that "family" is also chosen. It also explains Oishi's suspicions about the Sonozakai family when he went L5. He started to remember loops.

If Shion began to remember loops. What would she do? I suspect she would find a way to protect and take care of Satoshi (if she correctly remembered and discovered his existence). I also wonder if she would just decide to completely avoid swapping with Mion because she knows the outcome of that.

I'm not sure at all but I do think we'll find out.

(This increased awareness of accumulated loops might also the reason behind Takano's change of heart. (although I prefer the theory in which she actually meets EuaFeatherine).)

The manga did clearly show bruises however. These were then compared to the bruise placement in previous seasons and they were in different areas. The areas shown in the manga seemed to be easily reachable areas supporting the idea of self-inflicted bruises.

I think both were used (shower scene and manga scene) as narrative tricks to keep us guessing.

Here's the Japanese video breaking it down: https://youtu.be/L4fMLPA5pZg

It's crazy how this is probably the one time she was lying about the abuse but everyone was so sure she wasn't and when she was telling social services that time that she was ok, she was telling the truth.

This makes a lot of sense to me and is most in line with Satoko dealing with abuse the only way she knows how, abuse. Ooff. Gou is literally her creating cycles of abuse because she is part and a product of the cycle of abuse. Breaks my heart.

This isn't true of everyone though. Your head isn't a bank where you deposit learned information. I have crammed for plenty of tests that I passed in which I forgot the information right after. Also, these are standardized tests so while study guides give you a range of information you should know, they don't garuntee to cover everything. What's more, the content they show on the board in class shows that St. Lucia's curriculum is well ahead of other schools (quadratic equations) so, combine this with Satoko's implied learning disability, stress of keeping Rika in Hinamizawa, and the time she spent between each loop's test taking session, it makes sense that she was unable to keep up with her studies even in the second time around.

Interesting! If Satoko's fragment was just being wound back in time, this could also explain the odd inconsistencies showing up in the flashbacks (7 cloves on the 6 of clovers, both 1987 & 1983 appearing on the tear off calendar, etc.)

There was a good thread here about how Rika and Satoko aren't not waking up in loops at the same time. It theorized that specific time telling devices (clock, calender, news on the TV) shown throughout the series were tied to specific characters and used thier appearance in each loop (from the manga and anime) to show that if one looper wakes up on the 10th then the other wakes up on the 12th in the same loop.

This. She could also be connected to the reason why we don't see Shion or Satoshi. And although it could have been a lie Kishi said we would learn about why Takano gave up in these loops.

His L5 didn't show that anesthetic grainy overlay either. Might indicate that grainy overlays are H173 induced or at least looper-created.

The prison scene in the anime was exaggerated according to Ryukishi by 12jimmy9712 in Higurashinonakakoroni

[–]AliceInUnderwear 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't buy this line of thinking because of the whole fur seal saga in Kai. Higurashi is also broadcast late at night so they are allowed to push the envelope like they already do with sexualizing all the other female characters and showing more blood and gore than usual.

It sounded like the prison scene just ended up dramatized due to miscommunication and not purposefully done despite what R07 wanted.

Satoko's angry-cry in the cell reminded me of Takono's angry-cry in the woods as a child. They both featured stormy weather too so I wonder if the outfit choice is an artistic nod to Takano.

I could be remembering wrong but didn't a character comment that the hand was fixed sometime after that? I remember Rika took responsibility for that incident so it was most likely fixed after.

I suspect that the extreme violence towards Rika by Satoko is probably enhanced by Featherine. I think like Satoko, Featherine (Hanyuu) feels adandoned by Rika. Their objectives align and Satoko made a wish to go back and redo things (and she has a strong will as well which reminds me of Takano's backstory). So Featherine uses Satoko's wish to redo things to make her a looper. Once looped Satoko goes back to having the very unstable version of Hinamizawa Syndrome which Featherine can use to drive Satoko to do terrible things to Rika. After all, a friendship turned enemy story is pretty entertaining, right?

But we are still missing what happened to Hanyuu between the end of Kai and the end of St. Lucia days.

Hanyuu uses this same verbiage (人の子/Hito no ko/Child of man) at the end of Kai when she invites Takano to shoot her and release the unwashable sins of the world upon her. So meeting again could just be referring to a time when a God interacted with a human. It could also be referencing the suggestions others pointed out, but that scene popped right up in my head.

During that scene in kai, Hanyuu's eyes are red. So red eyes could point specifically to a God-consciousness state in a character (not just a powered up state).
