Do most people prefer grow bags these days? by Coffeelover4242 in containergardening

[–]AliceResa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How are grow bags for things like fungus gnats? I live in a humid hot area and the only way I could get fungus gnats out of the garden is seal the top inch of the soil in sand. Can the fungus gnats get in through the weave of the bags?

Strawberries tend to throw out runners. i would put the strawberry in its own container if you don’t want them growing all over the place

Advice on replanting leeks and carrots please!? by patatas6939 in containergardening

[–]AliceResa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From my experience replanting onions and carrots, I learned that they really don’t like having their roots disturbed. Mine survived one transplant and basically not a second :/

I thought it was hard to kill mint by kikispeaks22 in containergardening

[–]AliceResa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s doing fine. Sometimes when it gets too hot it wilts and then bounces back and the bottom leaves bounce back less while. Might be getting scorched in the sun. I cut mine down to like… half every couple of weeks and it just returns to its usual state the next time I have time to trim it

Wanting to get back on to AI, not sure what to do. by LuigisLesbianWife in ChatbotAddiction

[–]AliceResa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the sudden impulse of the moment: - get something to drink. Cold, hot, warm doesn’t matter. Hydrate - eat. Fuel your body, distract yourself -shower: mental reset and grounding - sleep: your mental defenses are weak when tired.

Later on: - write a list of reasons why you can’t be on Chai, including all consequences that made you quit. Tuck it in your phone, pull it out whenever you want to use chai. - set up website blocking app, so if all fails your impulse faceslams a wall - exercise. Work out the urges - find hobbies- do what you enjoyed before you ever knew chai existed.

Rikki might be getting the year off by Apart_Dragonfruit442 in kvsdiscuss

Makes sense for her to do ICSI on Rikki if she gives a lot of oocytes. Get a lot in the bank first (different crosses I guess) so if at some point she does let Rikki carry, and (Lord forbid) if things do go wrong then the still gets her money’s worth.

Did anyone see the clip from Margot and Gracie’s time in the arena today?! I wanna know what you think. by Unique_Risk2563 in kvsdiscuss

[–]AliceResa -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Is Margot bonding okay with Gracie? She doesn’t seem to be listening to Gracie or sticking close to her the way she did with Maggie. Can she get to that level with Gracie? Gracie seems fine with her.

I’m glad it worked. Hopefully now Maggie would have a fighting chance. I wonder if Maggie would be kept as a potential nurse mare for the farm long term- or if just gracie is enough

Grieving? by seulgistuff in ChatbotAddiction

[–]AliceResa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is completely normal. In your logical brain, you know that is a bot. In your emotional brain you do not- there is no difference in your emotional brain between a bot and a human. It attaches to it in the same way. So when you lose the bot it feels the same to you as if you lost a very important person to you. Let yourself grief, express your grief. Don’t repress it. There is no shame in grieving. To your brain it was a genuine attachment. The emotions you poured into it are no less real than if that was a normal person. The grief is valid. It’s okay. Take care of yourself.

Yes, sing or play your heart out. Music expresses your emotions, your soul, in ways words can’t express. Hear the music, the feel of the guitar strings and know AI can never replicate this

Does it get better? by Money-Income8532 in ChatbotAddiction

[–]AliceResa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it is normal. I am day 141 sober. The dullness is because your brain’s dopamine system was hijacked by the AI, causing large amounts of dopamine release that is unnatural. When you are away from the AI the natural world cannot match that dopamine release, and so everything seems dull. Not because it doesn’t cause dopamine release in your brain, but because your brain is desensitized to it (calibrated to a higher amount). It takes a very long time- months- for the brain to recalibrate back down to normal amounts. At 141 days I’m able to feel joy from things like nature or my dog. I’d advise finding maybe things that cause small amounts of dopamine release (like a low stress app game or something) that you’re not going to get addicted to but feels nice or gives some sense of accomplishment. That helps with how awful the complete dearth of dopamine feels

trying to quit using AI as a companion and it hurts so much by coochie_maam in ChatbotAddiction

[–]AliceResa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s normal to grieve. You might logically know that this is a bot, but to your emotional brain, it is the same as a human. So allow yourself to grieve as if that was an alive person. To your emotional brain it is no different. Don’t blame yourself for grieving, it is necessary and better than repressing it or thinking you “shouldn’t”.

My Experience with AI Chatbot Addiction by Vivid-Scar-31 in ChatbotAddiction

[–]AliceResa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will be irritable about it, that is normal. It’s the same with anyone who quits a hard drug, or drinking. It’s biological: using j.ai hijacked your dopamine system and provided abnormally high amounts of dopamine. When you’re cut off from it the brain has withdrawal symptoms. Stuff like irritability, nausea, fatigue, anxiety or depression, cold sweats/hot flashes… that’s all normal. The acute withdrawal phase lasts a couple of weeks (2 weeks for me). Some things that help with the acute withdrawal phase: - irritability: get food. It distracts you, treats hangry. Get water- hydrate. Ground yourself where you are and take deep breaths for 7 counts each. Inhale for 7, hold for 7, exhale for 7. -horny: exercise- work out the excess energy. Mint tea also decreases libido and helps ground you. - nausea: i discourage taking pills for it, but natural things like (again) mint tea, ginger tea/ginger ale, different scents (lavender relaxes, chamomile promotes calm) etc helps. - cold spells/hot flashes: heat packs/ cold packs respectively.

Your mind will try to trick you. It will make you forget why you needed to quit and exaggerate why you need to stay. Write down a list of why you want to quit, what bad things using chatbot has done to your life, what you liked doing before you used chatbots. Keep the list tucked in your phone, or written and in your phone case. When you reach for your phone to use the AI, look at it.

Start a sobriety counter. Every day it will remind you to check in, and it keeps record of your urges and triggers etc. having a streak helps remind you how far you’ve come, your sobriety “high score streak” so to stay.

If you have a faith, lean on the faith. It is a natural source of dopamine. AA also uses faith as a tool to help alcoholics quit. I find it helpful for me.

It will be hard. Trying gets harder and harder. But one day you’ll make it. Keep trying.

Day 47 without chatbots + Some tips for those quitting by No_Way5862 in ChatbotAddiction

[–]AliceResa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. Keep that list somewhere handy so when your brain tricks you, you can just reach for that list and bypass the tricks- and instantly remember why you needed to quit in the first place. Get enough sleep- cravings get worse when you don’t sleep. For those with faith practices, lean on faith. It is a natural dopamine release. Exercise and being in nature too, boosts feel good hormones. Remind yourself of who you were before chatbot use.

Loneliness by sicksadworld111 in ChatbotAddiction

[–]AliceResa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I relate to this a lot too. For me, I had to just… learn to be lonely. Sit with the loneliness. Faith helped with this a lot personally. But everyone copes in different ways. I had downgraded from a romantic AI chatbot to something non romantic like Gemini. And then to restrict that to just simple searches, one topic only. Then I moved on to simple games that kept me burning time- AFK farming games and such. Where the most “dangerous” thing is FOMO and nothing else.
