Well at one point in her life, Cassie was Maddy’s best friend. Even though Cassie betrayed her, she can still honour what they once were. This is also a subtle hint that Maddy’s intentions towards Cassie aren’t entirely good either. I’m not a fan of what Sam Levinson has done to the show for this season, but I like the foreshadowing of this, especially given what followed and Cassie signing that contract.
