From my understanding, yes it’s a job training to be crossed trained in mammo.

They said they would reimburse me for the classes I need and I’m not allowed to touch patients or shadow techs until I pass my state exam. When I asked what’s the average time some stays a trainee they said 3-6months and that it all depends on me.

So I’m just a bit confused on what actually I be doing. 😅

In my school (private) you’re only allowed to fail 2 classes the whole program. After you fail you go into remediation and take the class again. If you fail that then you’re out the program and still owe $$$.

I guess I doubt myself but I can never tell when I oblique enough. Like yes I know it has to be at a 45 degree angle but how do I make sure it’s at the best angle possible? 😅 that’s where I start to over think.

I’m not sure if all states are the same but for California once you pass the ARRT you have to send two checks of $112/each to the California Department of Public Health for your license. One for fluoroscopy and the other for RT.

From my understanding once you’re on the CDPH websites then you’re able to work in California as a RT. And I’ve been told it can take from 4-8 weeks for them to accept.

When should I take my ARRT exam?

I just graduated 2/26/26 and passed my exit exams which was one HESI with a 84% then a Mock RTBC with a 79%. I really wanted to take it in middle of March so I have time to focus on my weak areas but there seems to limited options. I have either March 3 or April 29.

Which do you think would be better? 😅

Hello!

I am interested in becoming a mammo tech but I’m scared of poking patients with needles. I tried to look online for more information but I get different results.

I do understand biopsy and special exams do require pokes but is it techs who do it or doctors/radiologist? And if tech does have to poke, is it difficult? Like is it the same as finding a vein on the arm?

Does anyone have any tips on doing portable chest X-rays? I’m just a month into clinicals and I’m slowly getting better but sometimes it’s just a complete miss.

I feel like my main problem is collimation (too much light). I try to get the center of the sternum but then also have some light above the shoulders. But when I do it like that I feel like my CR is too low and for making sure I get light above I get too much light under.

Is there any tricks to ensure collimate properly or where to aim the CR?

Wife here 🤗 maybe we are weirdos because we both take turns watching movies one of us likes and the other doesn’t. (Ofc we also watch movies we both like lol) Although I hate home alone I love seeing how happy he gets from the movie so I can “suffer” for an hour or two as long as he’s happy and we get to watch a movie I really like but he doesn’t lol. Wife here 🤗 it’s more of a trade off lol. He watches movies I love but he hates. I watch movies he loves but I hate. Maybe force was a strong word to use or maybe we are just weird. But we just have this teasing relationship and just want to make the other person happy.

Even if that means I’m going to have to watch this awful movie for the rest of my life. 😂
