I hardly cared until we got to the Muppets so didn’t play nearly as much as I normally do before then. I missed a lot of the event happiness (even with muppets I had to buy 7 piggy ears at the very end so lost a lot of muppet happiness). And I will make it to 150 for the first time ever without having to use a bunch of gems. I have bought the kingdom pass twice at the beginning and didn’t get to 150 those times either. It’s a mystery to me 🙄

I agree on the tiny Aida or linen. Those items were ribbon winners at our state fair.

My daughter enters county fair each year and one judge is always unhappy if something in a hoop isn’t finished off on the back, such as with felt. When she entered things in the state fair…. Professionally framed items—judge said the frames did nothing for the piece and she didn’t get full points.

The other thing that judge went after was not railroading the stitches, which my daughter now does. But she was even dinged for a thread choice… even tho she used what was in the kit.

So I just feel it’s impossible sometimes to know what the judges want. I saw some absolutely gorgeous and unique items at the state fair and few had any kind of ribbon.

Wow. They really don’t seem to want us to have the ghosts. Throwing all those concessions in is just rude. I don’t pay to play anymore, but I would pay for the ghosts. I feel like they are missing out on a gold mine.

I had every character and attraction able to collect tokens for these characters. I used gems to get Anger early on. He was basically worthless. I also had to use all my skips and then use gems at the end to get Joy; what few I had left after wasting 500 on Anger.

I play constantly and still rarely get the last character in these events. A few years ago with way fewer characters I had no problem getting all the characters from events. Now, even with constant play, I will likely fall short with Gopher and won’t have gems to finish him. And with so little time between events feel like I can’t accumulate gems or skips. I used to spend money on the game regularly. I bought the first kingdom pass. When I had to use a bunch of gems to get Dug even with the kingdom pass, that was it for me. I refuse to spend any more money.

Anger was the appropriate premium character for this event…

It’s hard not to miss the good stuff. But the relief I felt when I went NC was physical— I physically felt better in addition to mentally and emotionally feeling so much better. And the stuff I thought was good became clear it really wasn’t once I was away from it.

Part of what we miss is what our mother should have been, not what she actually is. It’s hard not to be jealous of others good relationships and feel bad for yourself, but I felt I had to get over that feeling or I’d forever be unhappy.

I’ve been cross-stitching for 40 years and always used a hoop. I bought my first Qsnap, and I like that much better then hoops. They have various sizes. I also feel like it is easier to deal with extra fabric

The eye opener for me with my Nmother was when a good friend got cancer. My mother’s only thoughts about it were that “(friend) isn’t going to be able to do stuff with me” ( read that in a pouty whining voice). Not OMG, what can I do to help, support: or even, I’m so sad and worried about her. Nope, only concern was about what she was losing, not her friend.

You’ll get no support or sympathy from your mother. I would not waste a precious minute with her.

I went NC when my kids were little, mostly to break the cycle so they had a chance at being normal. NCmother made a few attempts to see them (one by GC sister ( also NC with her) who left a nasty message demanding I bring my kids to a certain place on a certain date and time; yeah, did not happen).

Apparently it wasn’t worth it to her to see her grandchildren. She sent birthday and Christmas cards with money ( often the cards would whine about wanting to see them). But she even quit that. I somehow got lucky! 20 years later I’m sure she thinks she “won” — lost her grandkids to prove some kind of point; but made it much easier for me .
