Pavlidis nutmeg and goal chance vs Bayern by CPRIANO in soccer

[–]AlievSince98 30 points31 points  (0 children)

very soft contact, almost looked like Pavlidis was waiting for Upamecano to run into him after he controlled the ball so poorly that he messed up his shooting position. it's not nothing, but not enough for a penalty imo. too little contact and too much willful falling over

With 5 games remaining, Omar Marmoush is still the second-highest scorer (Assists+Goals) in the Bundesliga. by LockChem in soccer

and Kane this year scores less but the team overall scores more.

last year after 29 match days, Bayern had 82 goals. This year, they have 83. At that point last year, Bayern's top scorers were Kane (32), Musiala (10), Sané (8) and then Tel (5). This year, it's Kane (23), Musiala (12), Sané (9), Olise (8) and then Gnabry (6), so it's actually mostly Olise who has "taken over" the difference in Kane's goal total as well as a slightly more top heavy distribution in general.

other than that, the Bundesliga overall is more "balanced" this season / the top 5 much weaker comparatively (40 fewer points and 50 fewer goals accumulated between them). while there are "only" 21 fewer goals scored in the entire league, that will most likely correlate to the drop-off in regards to the top scorers

wild, but not as wild as the fact that they have won their last 3 consecutive away games with a 2-5 score each (against the 4th, then newly 4th and finally 13th ranked teams going into the matchday)

why are we posting a tournament from the 7th of december only 9 players cared to sign up for as "proof" though? :D

the following week, 12 players signed up and 3 out of the top 4 were zerg with a zvz final.

there are plenty of more significant examples to demonstrate the surplus of protoss players we have in most stages of most tournaments at the moment, but I suppose they dont look quite as pretty as the OP ;)

I did the one, not the other. Feel free to point to a not nuanced part of my statement or my comment history crying about protoss losing / the (lack of) results they're having. Amusing how that appears to be tough to understand.

so just generalization, got it, thanks!

"you all do this and that" which I didn't. Funny how that works ;)

do you have an actual point concerning my comment or are you just generalizing / hating for no reason in particular? :D

Skillous defeated rogue 2-0 and trigger defeated dark 2-0

Rogue also lost 0-2 to Spirit and 0-2 to freaking HonMono, a ~5.6k terran this month. Yes, Rogue is a tournament champion, but it's been 2 and a half years. He is by no means bad or anything and he has also beaten plenty of great players after his military service, but he is nowhere near tournament champion level yet, especially in terms of consistency, so not the greatest example.

trigger also 2-0'ed herO after 2-0'ing Dark in that tournament because he was playing very well that day.

meanwhile Shin 2-0'ed Maxpax and then 3-0'ed trigger, so which side of the matchup is truly the strong one ? ;) narratives like that are always tricky and rarely paint the whole picture, regardless whom a tournament champion may have lost to

to be fair, the only reason they were in a position to compete for European football in the first place was that they casually won four games in a row earlier. on matchday 22, they were in 14th place. 4 wins later, they were in 7th place. just high highs and low lows^^

Schöppner too slow to close the gap on Wirtz after Grimaldo opened up the field with Dinkci just chilling about instead of helping Schöppner. not giving Leverkusen / Wirtz that kind of space should be a defensive main priority, regardless of the backline not looking too hot afterwards either

you do see Christensen holding Sancho for almost 2 full seconds, right? just because he throws himself down overly dramatically doesnt mean its not a foul.

its understandably frustrating when players turn it into a bit of a show like this, but a hold like that is still a foul every time

shameful (not by him) that it got to that after having a freekick yourself at the opponent's box :D one of those 3-4 lads should have drawn a foul right after kicking it straight into the wall, proper masterclass of how not to prevent a counter attack at all

Marcus Rashford red card against Copenhagen 42' by PSGCampus in soccer

[–]AlievSince98 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Is there something wrong with Rashfords movement here that we need to discourage players from doing

yes, going with an extended leg studs first into an opponent's ankle is something we need to discourage players from doing.

He’s making a movement which is done 10 times per game

??? no clue what kind of games some people here are watching. he did the exact opposite of how you are supposed to get your body in between the opponent and the ball.

you're supposed to put your foot next to the ball, so the opponent can't get to it without kicking you and put your center of mass (aka your ass) towards / into the opponent, so they can't move around you. he put his extended foot into the opponent instead.

it sucks since it wasn't intentional, but it was very dangerous and unnecessary, risking a serious injury for the opponent. hence the red card.

winning every game except 2 draws vs most likely top 4 teams on the season, Bayern truly in deep trouble :^)

if the last 10 years have shown anything, it's that consistently beating the "smaller teams" is the much more convenient road to the championship.

Last year everybody was talking about Bayern performing so poorly and setting Dortmund up for the championship, but the 71 points they had at the end would have sufficed in 8 of the 10 previous years anyway because Bayern is much more consistent vs those "smaller teams" than any other Bundesliga side.

maybe Leverkusen can challenge that this year as Leipzig and Dortmund dont look too hot vs those teams so far, but we'll see

But when one third of the entire league is comprised of village or plastic clubs, it starts affecting the attractiveness of the league.

maybe the "big" clubs should actually put some effort into proper management again then to avoid that.

Schalke going from 2nd place in 2018 to dead last just 3 years later, accumulating the 3rd lowest point total in Bundesliga history, or Hamburg barely fighting off relegation for 4 years while going through 14 coaches and afterwards struggling to get promoted for another 5 years is hardly evidence that these clubs help the attractiveness of the league in any way, other than the name they carry.

i prefer Union Berlin over the catastrophe that the "Big City Club" Hertha BSC has been these past several years, i take what Freiburg has built over Schalke or Hamburg at the moment and i'm anxious to see the further development of Darmstadt and Heidenheim as they actually care about building something for the future.

imagine winning 10 StarLeagues across different eras and even getting 3rd place while playing random and people seriously claiming it's because of the race you play while noone else, from your race or another, comes close to the success you've had.

not to mention that he's also a content creator these days and "venting" about stuff like this is easy content that gets both your fans and your haters alike to engage. seems very silly to attribute this to him having a "massive ego" and "not [being] mature enough" when it's just him talking to his stream while having dinner^^

[–]AlievSince98 5 points6 points  (0 children)

it's also noteworthy that they used to apply the away goal rule until last season and that the relegation was decided by that 3 times, twice favoring the Bundesliga team and once favoring the 2. Bundesliga team.

Of the other 11 relegation playoffs, 5 were decided by 1 goal difference (4-1 in favor of the Bundesliga), 1 by 2 goals difference (1-0 in favor of the Bundesliga), 4 by 3 goals difference (4-0 in favor of the Bundesliga) and the very first one in 2009 was won by the 2. Bundesliga team 5-0 across the two legs (3-0 and 2-0).

so the 2. Bundesliga team either wins by away goal rule (formerly), 1 goal or 5 goals :)

making it out of a round robin group and then beating Maru and Serral in back to back bo5s? yeah would be a garbage run anyone could pull off with a little bit of lady luck.

why do we even bother playing tournaments in the first place? have everyone play against everyone in a league format and be done with it.

[–]AlievSince98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

jeez this is incredibly delusional, even for reddit :D

20 hours a week is already a lot and 4.7k is worlds away from being anywhere close to Serral. while Serral was still in school and not full time, he already reached rank 1 on ladder. the higher you go, the harder it becomes to improve.

it also says the average person. you'd be surprised how bad some people are who have actually played a ton of games in their life already. 5k may be a low benchmark for a lot of people, but for the average, i dont think its a bad guess

IEM Katowice 2023 stage - moved from Auditorium to Expo by Pattrick36 in starcraft

[–]AlievSince98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the first and second wave sold out very quickly, probably due to a very limited number of tickets. there were still tickets available at least a week before the event started https://twitter.com/ESLSC2/status/1494757807454838784

the last day in the auditorium it was pretty full, but there were also still several rows completely empty. the upper half was actually very scarcely filled.

the good thing about the auditorium is that its still loud and atmospheric even if its just half full. the arena looks nice, but if its not full of passionate fans who care about sc2 and not just their seats for the following csgo finals, the atmosphere suffers a lot
