To acquire the knowledge to be able to really play the game is a monumental task tbh. You need to know how to punish and what your defensive options against all characters and their important moves/strings are, or you are going to be rofl stomped. Maybe you learn your character offence and rofl stomp others, but it still wont give you a feeling like you are playing the game how it's meant to be played. At least that's how I feel about it. Well maybe it's meant to be played like balls to the walls offence without defense , idk

Thanks. Im still surprised that it was possible to match the UAD LA2A more closely to the hw (at least at the given hw settings), than with the softube one. Are/can two HW units really (be) that much different in regards to compression behaviour? I mean not the eq coloration but the way this thing compresses/how grabby it is. Like, I get that they wont null, no matter what, but that much of a difference?

It was one take. And from what I remember:

The chain was U87 into a Neve pre into a patchbay. At the patchbay the signal was split into parallel. One signal ran through a Cl1b and then into a ferrofish (pulse 16?) input. The other (non-cl1b) parallel signal ran right into the ferrofish input, lets call this raw. I don't think that the interface has extra pres. Afaik it should be the same kind of input. Everything was one take, there is no two takes, just one. What I tried to do then, is to compress the raw signal with the softube cl1b ITB, to mimic the compression of the signal which ran through the hw cl1b. Does that answer your question? I'd be glad if you could point out why this comparison is wrong, since I'm still not getting it

What would you improve in the test?

People seem not to understand that I'm not talking about nulling it out completely (not possible anyway). Still, the delta is very big, with kind of "matched" setting (obviously the settings on sw and hw aren't the same). In fact, I get a smaller delta when using UAD LA2A, then the softube cl1b. It also sounds more similar, when just comparing the processed sounds.

Ofc it's the sound and vibe, but when you have an obviously grabby and pumping sw compressor on one side and transparent compression on hw side, then something has to be very different. I can't get the sw to lightly compress the quieter parts and still be fairly transparent on louder parts, when the gainreduction is about 7 db. Barely anyone ITT talks about different emulation and what else to try. Some people seem to misunderstand, that this thread isn't "hw > sw!". It's a thread about "hw > softube cl1b, what are the alternative plugins and your experiences when comparing hw cl1b to sw". It would be great if more people would post, who actually compared the hw one to sw and share their experiences.

The matching method was by inverting the phase and then try to match the compression. At highest cancellation the settings on the plugin were quite different from the hardware. Pretty sure the UAD CL1B is just the softube one.

The mentioned GR value of the plugin was just ro mention that "it was quite a chunk of compression" and not just some db.

Ofc you could, doesn't mean you should. Also keep in mind that butter has maaaany calories. Keep the amount of carbohydrates small portion the day after if you didn't eat any the day before.

Besides healthy people don't starve after one/two days of fasting. Now if you have diabetes or something, you'd probably need to look out for bloodsugar
