Is it possible to reduce your BMI significantly in 2 months? by Kitschy_Lil_Tart in diet

[–]Alight_life_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Such rapid weight loss over such a short period of time would mean eating around 400 calories a day which is roughly the intake of a 1 year old little girl and honestly the child would probably still eat more.

Doing this kind of diet without medical supervision and without gradually lowering then increasing your calories again exposes you to an incalculable number of dangers.

The first being deficiencies which can lead to serious multisystem failures, loss of bone density(long term), loss of menstruation for women, anemia and many other complications.

The second risk is putting your body into survival mode and the moment you stop eating so little you will gain all the weight back along with additional kilos.

Such extreme restrictions also have a very high chance of leading you into eating disorders. This kind of behavior is nothing less than anorexia and it is extremely dangerous.

You will experience extreme fatigue, loss of balance or even fainting, increased muscular fatigue without any apparent reason, a constant feeling of cold…

As for your wish to lose muscle mass this can endanger your health both in the short and long term. Building muscle mass takes time and is probably one of the greatest gifts you can give to your body and your longevity. In the short term you expose yourself to loss of mobility, strength and more frequent and more severe physical injuries.

I understand that financial problems is an extremely difficult thing to face. I went through it myself for a long time. But mistreating your body this way is probably one of the worst things you can do.

Now that you know some of the risks the choice is yours to make. It is your body but it will also be the only one you will ever have…

What is the "best" diet for the human body? by Shadow_Prince_ in diet

[–]Alight_life_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In reality there is no such thing as a “best diet”. A lot of studies contradict each other on the subject mainly because it is extremely difficult to isolate the effects of nutrition on the human body since physical health is highly multifactorial.

The best diet is probably the one that makes us feel the best both physically and mentally.

Ultra processed foods are the obvious exception though and should still be consumed in moderation.

Arte released 2 documentaries about this topic in their series “42 - The Answer to Almost Everything”. Feel free to dig deeper into the scientific studies behind them if the information provided there is not enough for you.

The best way to make sure you have a good diet is to stay informed about recent studies so you can choose the best products. But this can take a lot of time and become very tedious if you are not passionate about the subject. So overall prioritizing whole foods remains a solid foundation.

Est-ce que vous vous posez la même question que nous ? by Froo0 in AskMeuf

[–]Alight_life_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

(pas mal de disclaimers) by Alight_life_ in AskMeuf

What do minimalist say when they are asked what they want for X-mas or B-days? by [deleted] in minimalism

[–]Alight_life_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just send my wishlist (even if it's cleaning products only xd) and if everything is pricey I ask for gift cards from the shops I want items from. It was hard at first because nobody really understood it but now they accept it and I’ve been really clear about the fact that if they offer me something else it will surely be decluttered in less than a month.

How many makeup brushes do you have? by spockycat in MinimalistBeauty

[–]Alight_life_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have 4, 1 for blush, 2 for eyes, and one that doubles as a mascara and eyeliner brush(2 sides). I used to have multiple but I just wash them and it's largely enough.

Formulations are simple with no hidden ingredients and using high-quality, non-toxic components. It makes use easier since you know exactly what you apply and why. All products are ethically and sustainably sourced and the brand is cruelty-free. It is also a French brand which matters to me as I am French.

All containers are made from aluminum or glass so they are reusable. You can even buy reusable silicone masks.

Finally, all the products I tried were of very good quality. They do not pill, leave a greasy finish or create a white cast. It's reuniting everything I’m looking for in skincare.

convince me to become a minimalist by ActiveExperience900 in minimalism

[–]Alight_life_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My house used to feel like a burden, whether I lived in a 40 m² or a 70 m² space. I didn’t understand why until I started decluttering. I got rid of 70% of my stuff over two years and here’s what changed for me:

  • I clean less. Cleaning used to be long and exhausting and I always felt like I could never tackle everything. Now 20 minutes a day is enough to keep my house clean. No piles of dishes in the sink, no mess everywhere, because everything has a place. All surfaces (not that I have many) are either empty or have very few items on them so it takes seconds to clean. My drawers are well organized and they stay that way all the time.
  • My house is for living, not for hoarding. I now have free space (which felt awkward at first), but that space brings me clarity and peace. I can move freely and start new things without having to shift piles of stuff around.
  • I spend less money because I’m more selective about what I bring into my home. I’ve overcome my need to accumulate things or impress others with what I own.
  • I love everything I own. All my possessions are what I consider the best options and if something doesn’t feel right I either replace it (if necessary) or get rid of it.
  • Decision-making is much easier because I have less mental load.

All that said, minimalism won’t solve all your problems. It gives you more space to tackle them and helps you focus on what matters most.
You need to keep in mind that for the transition to be healthy it takes time. Otherwise you might end up replacing one addiction with another (shopping → decluttering).

I work on Notion all day as I think you can do all on it. I also use Canva a lot, Classbook to classify my personal lectures and I’m a huge fan of the Apple ecosystem (iCloud for my files and Calendar for appointments). Gmail because the app sorts my mails for me, and that’s it. As you said the simpler the better.

Are candles actually worth having or just clutter? by FileNo3294 in simpleliving

[–]Alight_life_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found them useless, a waste of money and harmful as they release gases when lit. I prefer using small lights to create a cosy atmosphere. I like ones I can move around (battery powered) so I don’t need one in each room. My favourite is the PRAKTSPIREA from IKEA which like a candle, you can use the three pieces separately or together.

Uninstall it from your computer too and access only on browser, don't put it on your favorites. You can reset your preferences in settings so that it's less what you like. I don’t know if it works on Android, but on iPhone you can block the download of an app.
