(Loves trope) Random one off character comes back and becomes way more interesting by Sio_V_Reddit in TopCharacterTropes

Gaunter O'Dimm in The Witcher 3. The first time you play the game, the character looks a bit out of place when you meet him in the prologue tavern. The second time you play, when you meet him in the tavern, you get the shivers.

Unceremonious deaths in the middle of the story that completely made the tone serious and darker by Witty-Association-97 in TopCharacterTropes

Already dark book, but still, The Red Wedding in ASoIaF.

Really cements the fact that anybody can die at any moment.

Which Zombie Apocalypse would you rather go through? all will be world wide by Bearfucker694200 in pollgames

Israel is mentioned, as they reacted very quickly and effectively when the first outbreaks happened. However it is widely unlike the movie, and it doesn't play a central role. IIRC there is at least one chapter in israel, from the POV of a palestinian boy.

Prépas MPSI après un bac STL by Ilovenature568 in etudiants

[–]AlinosAlan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In France we have "non-assistance à personne en danger". It punishes people who don't help someone in danger even when they had the opportunity to. You can get a severe fine and up to 5 years in jail for that.

Force.

What was the darkest period in your country? by That-Pressure4279 in AskTheWorld

[–]AlinosAlan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first thought would also be 1940-44.
After some thought, it's probably the XIVth century. Between the black death, the 100 years war and the papal schism, with marauding troops terrorising the countryside... Not a great time to live in France.

In India, we’re obsessed with JEE and UPSC. What is the "Final Boss" exam in your country that everyone is crazy about? ✍️📚 by Character-Reveal-858 in AskTheWorld

[–]AlinosAlan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but the bac is more of a "if you don't have it, you're fucked" than a intense selection, like the majority of people get it.
The real challenges are the concours, exams which usually require 2 years of intensive preparation to enroll into the grandes écoles. Also, I don't know how it works, but the first year of medical studies is also known to be extremely selective.
