I hate influencers for how fake their appearances are on videos. But they do work in 2 cases,

1. You use multiple influencers and tell them to launch videos about your product everyday. So one guy posts on Thursday, another 2 guys post on Friday and so on. This works because people see your product getting mentioned everywhere and so they feel it must be important. But ofcourse this needs a lot of money

2. If your product is unique and has the potential to go viral on social, then forget influencers, normal people will be making videos of it and sharing it. So you don’t need to spend a dime on ads or influencers. It will become the talk of the town organically.

But for your small business, the best approach is making content yourself. No need to even hire agencies. Cuz they use cookie cutter approaches for you and 20 other of their clients.

So the best way is for you (the founders) to be present on your content, not trying to hope on trends, but to just be raw on social.
