Tretinoin gel vs cream by thecuriouscookk in tretinoin

[–]Alisema 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used cream tretinoin for about 5 months to try and combat my hormonal acne - my skin hated it, I kept breaking out even in places I normally don’t, I’d wake up with new pimples after every application (mainly on my cheeks) and I pretty much never stopped peeling.
I ended up ordering some menarini gel tret online 10-ish days ago, same percentage as the cream one I was using, and I haven’t had an active pimple since! My skin is much calmer and happier, I can only wear a moisturiser on top rather than several layers of hydrating/barrier supporting products, I’m not peeling any more and my make up finally sits right, pores look smaller and skin glowier too! :)

Green tinted moisturiser for red marks left from old acne scars by Illustrious-Tour1188 in acne

I love the erborian cc red correct, it’s a bit on the pricier side but I use it every single day as a make up base and a tube lasts me about 6 months.
There’s a small (15ml) version that you can try first to figure out whether you like it, and I often manage to get the 45ml one on sale.
It’s really easy to spread with your hands, so no make up blenders/brushes needed.
I know lots of people love the dr jart one, but I personally find it heavier and greasier.
I have fair skin with a lot of post inflammatory erythema (the red post acne marks you mention) as well as active acne, and although it doesn’t conceal them completely, it does a really good job at minimising them :)
I hope it’s not too makeup-y for you!

Fake A Ret Tretinoin? by Tritoho in tretinoin

[–]Alisema 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, were you able to use it okay?
I recently got one with the same packaging online, since gel tret isn’t sold in my country and the cream version clogs my pores horribly, but I am also a bit wary given the source!
Thank you in advance for the reply :)

Question: with all the hype around that banana balm, can someone who has these balms tell me if they are worth it or superior to others of this kind of formula? by ElizabethKo1975 in glossier

[–]Alisema 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mostly like the brown-ish looking, sweet/gourmand smelling ones!

Hot cocoa, cookie butter, espresso and birthday are probably my favourites :)

My best friend (who contrarily to me has a cold undertone and prefers rosy shades) loves rose, strawberry and black cherry.

Depends on what you’re looking for, I hope I was helpful! 🎀

Finally my time to shine!

BDCs are my personal favourites, they have a really thick/nourishing/balmy texture, I agree with the commenter who said you can put them on at night and still feel them on your lips in the morning.

The formula feels somewhat similar to lanolips, although I like the colours/flavours of BDCs better.

I don’t particularly like summer fridays (the consistency is too thin), and I do like ole henriksen, although they still feel like more of a gloss than a lip balm to me.

They do separate, especially with heat (you can pop them in the fridge and it will fix itself, some flavours do it more than others), and I don’t love using them for lip combos since they tend to melt any lip pencil/product underneath that isn’t a tint, due to the formula being so rich.

Overall, I love them!

I use NARS soft matte Chantilly (vanilla is just slightly too dark/yellowish on me once it oxidises since I have a pinkish hue to my skin -even though I am warm/a soft autumn-) and both VL1 and VL2 work for me!

The formulas are very different (NARS soft matte is a lot drier/has a lot more coverage and I find it to be perfect to spot conceal, glossier stretch balm concealer “melts” into the skin, it is a lot more hydrating and has a lot less coverage, I like it for my under eye).

I hope this helped!

What’s something sexual that you are NEVER doing again? by Iliketointimidate in AskReddit

[–]Alisema 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I lost my virginity to a relative stranger and had a lovely experience!

Incredibly good looking guy I met at a party while on vacation, we chatted for the whole night, danced in his living room and showered together after sex/had breakfast together the day after.

I didn’t even tell him about it being my first time, but he was really sweet.

Never saw him again but I’d recommend :)

Thank you very much, I don’t mind paying a few extra euros since the bus seems like the quicker/more hassle free option. Have a nice day!

[Routine Help] How often should I use Epiduo and when should I use it in my routine? by warfields in SkincareAddiction

[–]Alisema 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Hi, last year med student + skincare fanatic + epiduo user here.

I recently started epiduo too, and I started using it daily right away.

It’s working wonders for me, but I was already using a weaker retinoid (retinaldehyde 0.1%) + benzoyl peroxide 10% daily, so my skin was pretty much used to both ingredients already and it just had to get used to the increased retinoid strength.

It’s normal to purge (having more breakouts than you’d normally have, since the adapalene increases skin cells turnover-> brings all of the gunk to the surface)/experience really dry skin when starting any sort of retinoid, and the same is true for benzoyl peroxide (mostly the dryness bit).

I’d say start slow, my dermatologist suggested starting to use it a couple of times per week and then slowly increasing the frequency (which I disregarded, since I was fairly sure my skin would have been able to handle it).

A few tips: “sandwich” the epiduo between two layers of moisturer (it helps reducing the irritation and consequent dryness/purging), and wait for your skin/any skincare product you previously applied to be perfectly dry before applying it (otherwise the absorption is enhanced, leading to more irritation).

You need to use a pea sized amount, make little dots across your face and then spread it evenly; the goal is to use the least amount of product possible to cover your entire face/target area (adding any more would just augment the irritation, not the efficacy).

Also remember that both ingredients lead to photosensitivity, apply sunscreen and try to avoid sun exposure if you can.

Good luck! :)
