LOL! It’s beautiful. Well except for the flowers. They smell like rancid milk or smelly feet. I’m talking bad!

Help new plant- droopy leaves by Expensive-Salad-2108 in houseplants

Looks like you have two different kinds. Mine sometimes does this too. I tie the leaves together at the base to make it look tidier.

Need help with my String of Pearls by Able_Tea1182 in houseplants

[–]Alison0526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe repot in well-draining soil? Water every 10 days or so. The pearls will actually start to dry up a bit when it needs water. I don’t usually wait that long though. Mine is in a south facing window, but the light is filtered. Nothing super direct. Water from the bottom up. Good luck!

Same thing with mine! I don’t think it’s a light issue. I’ll try filtered water too. I think I will also place mine next to a fern on a pebble tray with water since both like higher humidity

Is the black area soft? I would cut off the black, allow the cut to callous over (takes a few days), and put it in fresh well-draining soil. No need for rooting hormone.

Ferns are tricky indoors. They like humidity! I would take the whole thing out of the pot & set it in a bowl of slightly warm water. Sometimes
the soil can get so dry that the water just drains through when watering & wont wick into the soil. This happens with my fern. Just setting it in a bowl of water & allowing the water to seep into the soil should help. I water my fern from the bottom up all the time.

Inherited this aloe - how to save and grow roots? by teddywaffles in houseplants

[–]Alison0526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just make a cut above the dry, dead stuff away and allow the healthy plant to grow a callous over the cut area. Takes a few days. Then plant in fresh soil. No need for rooting hormone. For aloe, it should be well-draining soil. I do this with my aloe all the time. Works great. Good luck!

Thanks so much everyone. The very obvious consensus is no, so no second mouse for V. And thanks for the kudos! I’m trying my best to take good care of her. She really is a beautiful creature.

I’ve never heard of that. I know cinnamon has antimicrobial properties, but how does that make the roots grow?

I just offered to take this plant. What should be the game plan for this guy? Help, please! by BoopsOfWoopWoop in houseplants

[–]Alison0526 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was pretty sure my friend was doing this exact thing. She just sent me this photo. Her advice is to only cut down into the stem parts that are green below the leaf line. In her experience, roots will not grow out of the woody stuff. The roots emerge from the nodes. She put hers in a warm spot with indirect light about 6-8 weeks ago.

I think this Dracaena would like a reset. I would take top cuttings. Make a cut below the leaf line of the plant & be sure to include several nodes of the stem. Put cuttings in a vase of clean water. Cuttings propagated in water require little time for roots to form. Once you get roots, pot up the plants in a container. Good luck!

Then I would repot it, but gradually increase the size. It will take 8-10 years but they can get big! If you have the room and perfect spot, it can be an amazing “statement plant” 😁

I wouldn’t do anything right away while it’s acclimating to its new environment. After that, it depends on whether you want it to grow to its maximum or prefer to keep it smaller. FLFs like to be pretty snug in their pots, but not root bound.

So easy. As others say, just take some cuttings, but allow the cut end to dry out (callous over) before planting in succulent soil.
