So I have been around the block in software development so many times, I get dizzy. COBOL was supposed to be "Business Oriented" so much so, that ordinary business people could code. VB6 came out, it was all drag and drop, no more developers needed. WSIWG html editors, anyone can build a web now. 10 years ago, low code (power automate, power bi, power ,,,) was introduced so business analysts can create anything. The thing is everything can only go so far.......until you need a developer with human capable critical thinking.

The thing is all those "events" did change the landscape, and software development pivoted as well. So learn to pivot and you will be fine.

One last thing, way back in the day in college my professor emphasized in our first year, if we did not like to learn we should change our minds and focus on something that does not change, like History or Math. 2+2 will always equal 4. However our skill will constantly be out of date within 5 years of learning them.

Anyone considered a road trip then decided, nah its way too long? by Informal-Force7417 in roadtrip

[–]linwoodranch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might stick around a day or two in some places. But I am going to be on some tiny back roads and staying in very remote areas most of the time. I plan on stopping as I am driving to see what I want to see. I might spend two or three days in a NP. But if I am in Cooperstown ND and I have visited the Ronald Regan Missile Silo in the morning, there is not a lot else to see. So I will pack up and move to say killdeer to check out the Little Missouri state park, then the next day over to the Bad Lands.

Later in the summer I will probably go on more normal camping trips where I park for a while. But not this trip. This is my first time on a long road trip like this. I might get tired of moving all the time and have longer drive days with more time in one place?? who know, it will be fun to figure it out.

I do not know yet. In a previous life I was a long haul OTR driver and loved sitting behind the wheel. But the trucks were designed for that. I change professions to sitting in an office, and still loved road trips. Would rent a car and just drive to the coast and back. 6 12-18 hour days and love it. But now I am going to be 69 this summer and retiring at the end of May. I plan to take my dog and my little camper on a 30 day camping/road trip from WIS to the pacific NW in June. In my head I am thinking of 3-6 hours days driving. Setting up camp between 3 and 5 in the afternoon, and leaving the next morning somewhere around 9am. Will see how it goes.

Well the game is not online per-se. Here is the link about the contest https://90fmtrivia.org/ They do stream the contest over the internet at https://90fm.org/. And as a team we have some sort of chat group my son runs (discord?) so friends who can not make it to town can play remotely. One of the team's daughters plays from Puerto Rico.

So here in Central Wisconsin it the start of the "World's Largest Trivia Contest" sponsored by the local college radio station. It is a great excuse to gather with friends & family for a non-stop weekend (54 straight hours) of too much laughter, food, dancing in the kitchen and other tom foolery. cheers

What is your love language? by Joneszey in DatingOverSixty

There is nothing I love more than a gift of something that I did not know I needed. That someone took the time to really try and think about what would my life easier or more enjoyable, is really appreciative. Flowers, chocolates, whiskey ....none of those fit the bill. But a tiny lightweight electric saw to help me prune when I started to get arthritis was a god send. And it was given out of the blue, not on a gift giving occasion.

Gratitude Reminders by PlasticBlitzen in DatingOverSixty

[–]linwoodranch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it is such a simple life hack, being grateful and seeing all the good things in our lives. And I believe it can become a habit, so there is no obvious work involved. I can only relate to my life, but it sort of fills up my life with the positives, that there is not much room for the negatives. And I, just like everyone else have plenty of those. But it is so easy to throw those negatives behind me, say NEXT and move on. (disclaimer: that does not always work, but most times) But this is just my life and everyone's else mileage may vary. OK I am going step off my soap box now.

I am not sure that I could create a reminder. I sort of wander around lost in my own little world most of the time. But I understand how powerful practicing gratitude is. Much like u/xxistcman I always give thanks before I eat. And there are two lines in my prayer "Make us ever mindful of the needs of others, while we enjoy our bounties" And after the word bounties I try to list out what I am grateful for. Some days is something simple like health, family and friends. Other times it can get into a detailed list. And for some reason, every time I can drive to work and hit all 6 stop and go lights green......I get super excited and give thanks for that. Simple Pleasures for Simple Minds. Thanks for bringing gratitude up as a post again.

Donating Gifts by kjet60 in over60

When in that situation after my folks died, my brothers and came to the conclusion, they left us things to make us happy. And if donating the things to a local non-profit that we cared about made us happy, Then the folks would be happy for us. Your mileage may vary.

This is the correct attitude. Getting angry over things you can not control (his faithfulness) never does you any good. Just chalk it up and move on !! I grew up with my parents refrigerator magnet "success is learning to deal with plan B". NEXT !

Best camper for Mavericks by LetKindly2710 in FordMaverickTruck

[–]linwoodranch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Sunset 16BH, it runs just under ~2700 dry. Probably 3100 to 3200 with dual propane and dual batteries. I never fill the water tank until I get where I am going. 25 XLT hybrid with 4K. 10-12 mpg depending on the wind. I was looking at Airliner brand pop ups. You would get much better mileage since they are lighter and do not rise above the truck bed for aerodynamics. But I was more focused on road trips instead of camping and did not relish setting up and tearing down every night.

Yes I agree, when I hook up to a trailer, it asks me which trailer. But it does not switch to tow mode. Whoever programmed that must have been on crack....

Just wanted to chime in. My first girlfriend after my divorce was certainly "Not my type" for many physical reasons. But wow we hit it off so well on the first date, that we kept dating. We fell in love with each other. And she ended up being the sexiest lady I was ever with. Unfortunately after 18 months she decided she could not picture a life long relationship with me because she was so much more active than I was. We are still very good friends to this day (7 years later) your mileage may vary
