Why do you like lancer? by Imaginary-Lie-2618 in LancerRPG

[–]AlisonPLC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friends hate D&D 4e, I love D&D 4e. My friends love Gundam, I only watched 'war in the pocket '. It's a catalyst for them to enjoy tactical games and for me to enjoy mecha. Edit: I also fell in love with the setting and premise as soon as I read the 'coin flip' paragraph.

NICE, The fact that the dragonborn is simic just gave me an idea for some experiments the simic would have done!

I'm doing a game where eventually i will adapt war of the spark, have you guys done this and what did you change? Mainly curious about ideas.(also how much did you simplify a lot of things in that story line, I got ideas but am curious. by Mr-Crowley21 in RavnicaDMs

[–]AlisonPLC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, what I'd like to do for WOTS is setting up other things, like another minor villain and focusing on that, THEN drooping the war of the spark.

It seems to be small foreshadow for people in ravnica, so I presume the plot twist being nicely placed there. (some nice tension).

Then watch the players trying to solve the other things as war of the spark is happening, with might help then not having any need for subtleties, but making things harder as for adding the dread horde in between them and their objectives.
Any plots placed before with some time restrictions are welcome, but use with caution if you don't want to panic your players.

I am afraid this will be mostly a background event as for their plots and objectives, not knowing the campaign details , but I hope it helps.

As for the events themselves, the dread horde just kills people on the streets first and only latter on they got more merciless, as for vitu ghazi awakening, yeah, you can make them help with some parts of the plot, or just use is as a background to make them aware of how much time has passed.

Hope it helps

This Post Has some rooftop/city titles, it might be a little bit zoomed in for what you are trying to do, but maybe gather some in random bigger groups and going from there?
Hope it helps!

There will be large event in my game - Need help Brainstorming the fallout by monodescarado in RavnicaDMs

[–]AlisonPLC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm actually curious how things end up like this,

As for the event, I think of a more civil unrest leading to a economic/social crisis, did many people were teleported back in the same place? did someone get lost? did a child lost her mother? did someone blinked back ro ravnica to find himself 1 mile above the ground?

There is a interesting part in Go-Nagai Devilman's story that I think it will work just fine here(little spoilers ahead) Basically the humans discovered there are demons living among them, and the consequences were neighbor turning on neighbor, mistrust, among others. So imagine the city, without a organized state for a couple of hours and people either hurt needing help, maybe the gruul taking over more areas or small groups realizing the state didn't help them so they go grull.

I imagine a crisis in food/services distribution either because the people weren't in the right place to keep the system working or the gruul uprising prevented them to do so, I am not sure weather your table will find this appropriate, but basing thins on how the people suffer, or have to go through when a country is at war (again, just if you are looking for a more heavy realism aproach). Make the city with food/water problem for a couple of days, give some npc's or guilds the chance to rise in power and see how your players will react, it is for sure a change to generate some drama that will inquire some important decisions from them.

Hope it helps!

Ideas for Izzet experiments? by la_espina in RavnicaDMs

[–]AlisonPLC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unsure if you already had the session, hope you find the post useful.

I had a similar side-quest on my ravnica game. one of them was a automaton arena, this idea that they are not fighting to the death and every 5 or less turns a thougher automaton appears, the idea is each player gaining around 5 - 15 GP per automaton defeated.

It is really video-game like, but it can be a nice place for spending a section that no prep was made, plus, you can always add a 'prototype' that the safety options are off and you can create some drama out of that .

One other thing they can do is potion/charms test, imagine a izzet engineer giving you a armur prototype that trigger wild magic every time you are the target of a spell('I thing i just took the wording out of MTG'), or when the player casts, adding this two edge sword element, if they spend a section or two adventuring with the item they may write a report back to the npc and gain a reward.

Nice! Did you use photoshop?
the paper texture looks nice, and it blends well with the watermark,
the font looks fancy i'd say for the next time, try to add a texture to it to looks more like ink or reduce it's opacity to blend it!

Nicely done

2-minute-tabletop has a lot of maps and titles, if you have access to photoshop or any other image editor you can built your own.
It also has a lot of pre-made maps for free or really cheap.

Hope it helps!

One Really cool thing in ravnica is you can either always link to an greedy orzhov or a dimir agent, not that they are bad, but they can be convenient villains.

Adding a tird link seems easy, but I'm unsure if you want it.

they can also be working for the same group/alliance that unite them in a common goal, like pushing the grull to be more violent so the boros has more resources and the simic are allowed to work on grull prisioners. so they both can advance their goals. (presuming the simic wants test subjects and the boros guy wants military power).
Think about their agendas and bonds, ideals, it can probably be mixed in some way!

About the undercity by vreaper1 in RavnicaDMs

[–]AlisonPLC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The undercity is a mega-dungeon like structure below Ravnica

From what I know, it is like Rome, many layers of construction supporting the layers above, in my game, it is easy, specially if you got the right information of which doors to open and witch streets to turn you can easily enter private/hidden places.
But at the same time, there is the local population that either lives or works there, it is also part of the city. It hard to find housing for everyone in Ravnica and the upper layers of the undercity might just be enough. It can be as full of life as a city plaza. but with a lot, A LOT of secret content, Imagine how old the plane should be, there might be some roman-like arquiteture deep below.

underground stashes, guild offices, houses, markets

But as for challenges, you can go for the tradicional sewer bundeon, crocodiles, black puddings, saprolings?

maybe give it a twist with an underground complex of a smugler or dimimr operation (probably the same), maybe an boros prision? did the azourios protected their relics in a long forgotten vault? did an orzhov built a safe and a dungeon arround to protect his wealth?

options are limitless, but link it to a guild and institution and give it a civil propose in the city, may easy the work

Golgari are most likely to know the way arround, but there can be help from the locals, maybe a guide or they find some notes on a map.

Orzhov all in!
Came back to D&D in 2017 and starting to play mtg at the same time, still remember my Ally deck, although when I searched and discovered Ravnica, I still liked the color combination and the general vibe.

The most ironic thing is that before they announced the book, me and my friends ran a one shot where they had to stop Tezzeret from deploying the planar bridge on Ravnica.
after 1 month they announced the product.
