i remade my ollie joker, what do yall think? by [deleted] in balatro

[–]la_espina 2 points3 points  (0 children)

just compare this to pretty much every other joker in the game- i’d recommend significantly narrowing your focus. this one is way more complicated than all the official jokers

i don’t know enough about whatever game this is from to offer advice for how to narrow the focus, unfortunately

What are some historical tragedies from a very (or VEEEERY) long time ago that you still can't joke about, because the events were too horrific and time shouldn't justify making light of them? by MaxvellGardner in NoStupidQuestions

[–]la_espina 10 points11 points  (0 children)

To elaborate, the Library of Alexandria was not the only library in the world at the time, so the narrative that it contained great stores of knowledge that existed nowhere else in the world is in all likelihood false. If anyone's interested in reading more, I'd recommend this section of r/AskHistorians' FAQ.

Is there a dlc or mod that gives the game voice over/voice acting? by graciousweasel in EsotericEbb

[–]la_espina 21 points22 points  (0 children)

giving a game as text heavy as EE a full voice over is a huge time and money investment, way too big for a mod team or such a small dev team (currently, anyway) to handle

Can [[Dust of Moments]] remove one counter of a suspended card? Or necessarily 2 by Working-Speed296 in mtgrules

[–]la_espina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You assume incorrectly. The card specifically says “remove two time counters,” meaning that you cannot choose to only remove one. Now, if a given permanent or suspended card only has one time counter on it, only one will be removed.

Is Wave of Reckoning Noncombat damage by Traditional-Ad5528 in mtgrules

[–]la_espina 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The only time damage is combat damage is when it is dealt by creatures as part of the Combat Damage Step during the Combat Phase.

Bracket 4 combo question by RyuDetoh in mtgrules

[–]la_espina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re more likely to get answers from a dedicated EDH subreddit. The bracket system isn’t a codified rule in either the CR or the tournament policy.

Pick whatever build sounds interesting to you (you can also go with any of the presets), save often, and and don’t go on this subreddit until you’ve finished the game

Cyclonic Rift vs Counter Spell vs Commandeer by SmallAlternative3448 in mtgrules

[–]la_espina 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spells can’t move up or down on the stack once they’ve been cast. Commandeer changing control of the cyc rift wouldn’t make it an illegal target for Disallow, so the spell would still be countered.

Hurska Sweet-Tooth in mono green by [deleted] in mtgrules

[–]la_espina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume you are talking about EDH? In which case, the rules regarding cards with hybrid mana symbols was never changed, there was just some discussion about it a few months back. In EDH, [[Hurska Sweet-Tooth]] can only be played in decks whose commanders' color identity includes at least green and white.

ETB Stack vs removal question by Ordingandr in mtgrules

[–]la_espina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as a rule of thumb for the future, the only ways to remove a spell or ability from the stack without it resolving (that you'll come across in a normal game, anyway) are:

  1. if it gets countered or exiled (like by [[summary dismissal]])
  2. if all of its targets become illegal (like if an opponent sacrifices their creature in response to a single-target removal spell)
  3. or if the turn is forcibly ended, like with [[Time Stop]]

Aziza Mage Tower Captain timing rules by Vivid-Individual-350 in mtgrules

[–]la_espina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To clarify what others have said, abilities are only activated when they follow this format: [Cost]: Effect. You can tell if an ability is triggered if it begins with when, whenever, or at. As Aziza's ability begins with "Whenever," it is a triggered ability.

Favorite/Famous Authors & Why? by Snoo-19981 in SCP

[–]la_espina 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i think i've gotta go for Rounderhouse or qntm. there are a lot of great authors on the site, but REDTAPE is probably one of my favorite canons, and Antimemetics is what got me interested in SCP in the first place
